There is something about the image of this house, immortalized on postcards from the early 20th century, that makes your heart beat faster. The village was then called Kiesewald, and the house was over 100 years old. Today, it has almost 400 of them on its foundations and is one of the oldest in Michałowice. The legend says that the town located in a valley at 650 m above sea level. founded in the 17th century by three Michał brothers, fleeing from the Czech Republic from religious persecution. I remember the exact moment I got here, stood in the neglected garden and looked at the building for the first time. A few years earlier, visualizing my own house in the Karkonosze Mountains, I bought a rocking chair. I imagined myself wrapped in a woolen blanket, rocking in it on the terrace with a mug of tea burning my tongue and watching the sun disappear behind the mountains. And that's exactly what I saw in that moment. In order to make this vision a reality, a renovation lasting several years was necessary, which Artur and his parents undertook on our own. Recently, we have introduced a few more changes, which meant that today Lavendów is waiting for everyone tired of the city: three cozy apartments, a common glazed room and a wooden house in the garden. On almost a hectare of land there is an old orchard, a lavender field with several hundred bushes, its own vegetable garden and lots of nooks and crannies created for disappearing.
Over the years, we have become a family haven where we make sure that there is a balance between the needs of big and small. So we have a tree house, swings, a playground and a trampoline. We also have secret hiding places with deckchairs, hammocks hung among the trees that call for naps, a terrace (and in a small house a porch) to sit with a cup of your favorite drink and a warming sauna. In the evenings, we turn the common space filled with board games and toys into a cinema room. You can have dinner with the whole family or spend the night in a tipi tent, sing by the fire and set off from here straight on the trails.

A house with a soul and almost 400 years of history. When it came into our possession, it was in a dilapidated state. We decided to give it a second life, and for over 10 years now, it has been repaying us with the charm of a traditional country cottage, its warmth, and coziness. Your senses will be pampered by the harmonious interiors, soothed by the scent of lavender harvested from our 500-seed field and herbs from our garden.
Our nearly hectare farmstead is located on a dead-end street in a quiet valley in Michałowice – a village surrounded by four mountains: Piechowicka Góra, Drewniak, Grzybowiec, and Płoszczań. Legend has it that it was founded by three Michał brothers who fled religious persecution in the Czech Republic in the 17th century.
Our house, on the first floor of which we live, has:
– 3 apartments,
– a glass-enclosed common room with access to a terrace surrounded by a garden,
– a Finnish sauna,
– additional sleeping space above the common room.
The Fireplace Apartment measures 65 m². Its heart is a clay-covered fireplace and a lounge area with sofas. It consists of two separate double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and a kitchenette. It can accommodate up to 8 people. It has direct access to the garden and a view of the playground.
The Lawn Apartment consists of a 25 m² room with a kitchenette and a bathroom with a shower. This room opens directly onto the garden. It is an ideal space for a family with two children or three adults.
The Pastel Apartment is located on the first floor. It is a 20 m², bright, and spacious room with a kitchenette and a bathroom with a shower. Designed for a couple or a family with one or two children. From here, it's very close to the glass-enclosed relaxation area, which offers access to the terrace and garden.
Each space can accommodate travel cots with a mattress for younger children, as well as children's beds and bunk beds for older children.
The interiors feature clay plaster, which regulates humidity and temperature, creating a breathable, pleasant microclimate and clean air.
The garden also features a 50-square-meter Lavender Cottage. On the ground floor, there's a kitchenette, a dining table, a fold-out sofa, and a bathroom with a shower. On the first floor, there's an open-plan bedroom with a double bed and two single beds. It also has room for a cot with rungs. The cottage is decorated in a rustic style and features folk accents. A veranda opens onto the orchard in front of the entrance.
We've made sure to create separate areas in the lush garden, offering each of our guests the opportunity to retreat and relax. For adults, there are spaces with hammocks, loungers, tables and chairs, and large teepee tents with a fire pit, where you can spend the night or have dinner. For children, we have a play area and a treehouse. We have a fire pit, and in the summer, we set up a large swimming pool in the garden. There's also a lavender field and an orchard full of plum, walnut, cherry, sour cherry, and apple trees. When there's no drought, a stream flows around the house, providing refreshment on hot days.
We have two cats: Toffi and Lila, who you'll find in various corners of the garden. Pets are welcome.
Although our house is located on a hill (650 meters above sea level), over the course of our dozen or so years here, we've never needed snow chains to reach us. In the event of persistent snowfall, you'll simply have to wait for a plow.
Breakfast is served daily at 8:30 AM and delivered to your door. Please request it in a separate message before booking.
All apartments feature equipped kitchenettes where you can prepare your favorite dishes. Each apartment has a kitchenette equipped with everything you need to prepare your own meals. However, if you're not in a hurry to cook on vacation, you can order homemade dinners delivered to Lavendowo. There are two dining options. Meals are served at the selected time (until late afternoon). During the week, a two-course dinner (soup + main course) costs 30 PLN, and the option with dessert costs 35 PLN. On weekends, meals are selected from the menu, which incurs a slightly higher cost (approximately 30-40 PLN for the entire meal). Meals can be ordered from the second dining option every morning (except on weekends). Meals can be enjoyed indoors or at tables in the garden, and there is also a covered seating area. A grill and a fire pit are at your disposal on site.
If you'd like to pamper your taste buds with fresh sourdough bread, cheeses, butter, yogurts, and regional delicacies, we'll be happy to recommend places to purchase them.
About 100 meters from our house, there's a restaurant open daily until 10:00 PM (from noon). If your mountain walks are longer than you expected, you can stop in for a warm meal on your way back from the trails.
We won't deny that upon entering our habitat, you feel a slowing down. Breathing deepens, and all your senses experience relaxation and solace. Days pass by indulging in blissful laziness in the garden, which takes on a variety of forms. It usually begins in the morning with a barefoot walk on the grass with a cup of hot coffee in your hands. If you get up early enough, you can spot deer and stags that drop in to feast on our raspberries. Then you read books on the loungers, engage in a yoga or meditation session on the terrace or in the glass-enclosed room, and then take a nap in the hammock. Here you can:
– see a lavender field with over 500 bushes and our harvest, which we transform into lavender oil, hydrosols, bouquets, and scented bags,
– take a session in the Finnish sauna, filled with lavender scent (one session is included in the price, each subsequent session is subject to an additional fee). This offer is limited and intended for adults only (6:00 PM - 10:30 PM with prior reservation and subject to availability).
– organize a bonfire or dinner in a teepee tent (by prior arrangement and reservation). This offer is seasonal.
– sit by the bonfire in the evening (we organize communal bonfires in the summer; in the off-season, we can prepare a bonfire upon your request - for an additional fee).
– relax with a Hawaiian Lomi Lomi massage with a hint of lavender or an Abhyanga massage, as well as a Tibetan bowl massage or a sound bath. Tibetan bowls and KOSHI bells (we can arrange these upon request; they are available for an additional fee).
If you're visiting Michałowice with a penchant for hiking, which we're also not surprised about, you can head straight from Lavendowo. The Szklarka Waterfall (the second-largest waterfall in the Karkonosze Mountains, after Kamieńczyk) is a 1.5-hour hike away. Lavendowo is located beneath the Śnieżne Kotły (Snow Cirques) – twin glacial cirques that cut into the northern slope of the main ridge of the Karkonosze Mountains. They lie between Wielki Szyszak (1509 m above sea level) and Łabski Szczyt (1472 m above sea level). A trip to the Kociołki (Cauldrons) is also worth taking. This group of rocks features over 30 circular, cauldron-shaped depressions. The yellow trail leads to them, which also leads to the Złoty Widok observation platform, which offers a panoramic view of the Karkonosze Mountains and Szklarska Poręba. Benches and deckchairs offer views. A short distance further on, there's a disused quarry.
Other Karkonosze attractions: Zbójnickie Skały (Highland Rocks), Kamieńczyk Waterfall, Wysoki Kamień (High Stone), Wielki Szyszak (Great Szyszak), and Bobrowe Skały (Bobrowe Rocks).
There are numerous cycling routes of varying difficulty in the area: the Giants Cycling Range, with over 70 km of routes named after Slavic gods and demons (the closest is the 19.5 km Piechowice Loop, which runs between Michałowice, Piechowice, and Jagniątków), single-track trails in Michałowice and Świeradów-Zdrój, and the Karkonoski Express pod Reglami (Karkonoski Express pod Reglami).
In winter, you can enjoy skiing in Świeradów-Zdrój, Szrenica, or Harrachov, and cross-country skiing in Jakuszyce.
We can organize: snowshoe hikes with a mountain guide, downhill and cross-country skiing lessons for children and adults, guided mountain hikes, and mountain biking tours in the Karkonosze and Jizera Mountains. We also offer rental equipment (mountain snowshoes, downhill and cross-country skiing equipment, trekking poles, and Nordic walking poles).
It's no secret that we are a child-friendly and child-friendly place. In our garden, in addition to a huge space for running, we have organized: a playground, slides, swings for older and younger children, a trampoline, a tree house, a pitch and a swimming pool that can be extended in the summer season. For the little ones, we have a house and a sandbox. We also have: sleds, bikes and toys.
Inside the house, we have prepared a play corner in the room, which in the evening becomes a cinema room or an exclusive relaxation zone by the sauna. In the room there is a shelf full of board games, a table football table and darts.
You don't have to bring with you: a high chair, children's dishes, a bathtub or a potty. We have them on site. As well as risers under the sink, cots with mattresses for the younger ones and children's beds for older children.
We have also prepared suggestions for additional attractions for children. For an additional fee, it is possible to organize workshops on painting cups and organize lessons in downhill and cross-country skiing (for children and adults). After prior reservation, you can spend the night in a tepee in our garden during the summer season.
On site we rent: bicycles (with child seats) and professional travel carriers (options additionally paid).
