Our house had many names, many owners, and at least two different addresses. Because the history of Banachówka is not only the history of our family, but the over 200-year-old chronicle of the previous hosts. Thanks to post-German postcards and notes, we know that Ernestina Neumann replaced the terrace with a covered porch. And that Heinrich Scholz, after several years of hosting, was shot by Klara Kiesewalter. And when the boarding house came into the hands of Miss Helena Hayn and Helena Vogel, it had been in operation for a whole year and even had a telephone connected. In 1995, my parents took over the keys, treating this place as our second home. Over the next years, dad with a truly uhlan fantasy converted the attic into rooms, built a garden swimming pool with Olympic dimensions and was everywhere where renovation support was needed. But the latest chapters of Banachówka's chronicle are now written by me, together with my husband Grześ and my mother's ladle.
We rent the house exclusively for several families or groups of friends, because it can comfortably accommodate up to 25 guests in nine rooms, each of which has its own bathroom. A large veranda (thank you for it, Ernestina!), a fireplace room and a spacious yard encourage you to spend time together. In the Jizera Mountains, however, it is not worth limiting yourself to seeing only the nearest neighbourhood. Forest paths, running and cycling routes, and even ghosts from the mines are waiting to be discovered. Because Banachówka is the land of childhood, the place of first kisses, scratched knees and broth noodles, sucked in with a loud slurp.
We invite you warmly!
We rent the banachówka exclusively, but you need to know a few things before arriving. First of all, my mother, who uses Banach's kitchen, has her permanent flat in the extension. He makes preserves for himself and for you, prepares meals. We give you a kitchenette with basic equipment for cooking. You will probably not prepare a dinner for the whole group here, but breakfast or dinner - as much as possible. Secondly, due to the age of the house, turn on the faucet first and then go into the shower. It takes a while for the warm water to reach the top. Third, for several years there hasn't been enough snow to make it difficult to get there. However, we always make our guests aware of the necessity to take the chains with them if the conditions suddenly change (so we also sensitize you).
The house consists of a ground floor and two floors. There are two rooms on the ground floor. The first is a glazed porch that can seat 30 people at the table, with the aforementioned kitchen facilities present behind the bar. The second room - slightly smaller - is a fireplace room with a piano, sofas and a children's corner. On the floors there are rooms - a total of 9 - each with its own bathroom. We have a total of 16 single beds and 7 double beds.
In the immediate vicinity of Banachówka, there are two places for a bonfire and one for a barbecue. There is also a playground, swimming pool and playground for children.
Sometimes we hear from guests that we have a better stocked kitchen than in their own home. And we just try to take care of a place where everyone will find something for themselves. The kitchen is no exception. Because we love to cook ourselves and we feel like a spoonful of nutella on crispy pancakes, we are happy to prepare meals for you - but here we will add that, above all, in the summer season.
However, if you come in low season in a larger group and for a longer stay, ask about the possibility of preparing food. And the fork knife can we figure out something?
In addition, we share preserves, we know where they make good cold cuts and delicious goat cheese.
We are happy to provide you with trusted addresses!
Our place is created for a nice rest and a good meeting of a larger group of friends. Therefore, we suspect that you are interested in attractions that can be done in a larger group. So we're flying with ideas!
# 1 Bike tour
Have you heard about single tracks? These one-way bike paths win the hearts of beginners and advanced riders alike. The trails in Świeradów-Zdrój were one of the first in our country, and are currently over 20 km long in total. Nothing prevents you from going on a bike also to the Czech Republic, where an additional 50 km of well-groomed routes await.
# 2 Cross-country running
Is there anyone in the room who has not heard of Jakuszyce? Every year, this capital of cross-country skiing attracts runners from all over the country thanks to its various routes, stretching both on the Polish and Czech sides. On site, you will also easily find numerous ski equipment rentals.
# 3 Skiing
As for the ski slopes, the closest one is in Świeradów-Zdrój (SKI & amp; SUN). Another one can be found in Szklarska Poręba (Dolina Szczęścia and Ski Arena Szrenica). There are nurseries and rentals at both.
# 4 Sitting by the fire together
There are two places for bonfires and one for a barbecue near the house. Since the Jizera Mountains are famous for their extremely dark skies, it is worth looking not only in the eyes, but also upwards when frying sausages or heating marshmallows.
# 5 Celebrating meals
We will not cheat the facts: we love food. And with our kitchen, we try to encourage mindfulness during meals, joyful crunching of carrots and putting some extra on the plate.
# 6 Celebrating… anything
Birthday? Anniversary? Meeting after years? Find your own reason to celebrate! We will be happy to help you with preparations, ordering a cake or decorating our two larger rooms, which will accommodate all guests.
# 7 Hiking in the Jizera Mountains
Somehow, the Jizera Mountains managed to keep empty trails in many places and private pleasures in the form of, for example, forest waterfalls. The nearest walking trail (yellow) starts just 500 meters from Banachówka and leads all the way to Świeradów. However, you don't have to use the trails at all - if you feel like it, just keep walking aimlessly. Who knows where you will end up?
# 8 Passage of the underground route in Krobica
As the guides of the underground route point out, due to the narrow corridors, people with claustrophobia are unlikely to find themselves here. The route follows the traces of the old shipyards, and it is worth knowing that the first mentions of mining operating here come from 1512. Today the mine is leased by one of the guides, fascinated by the atmosphere of this place. You can also decide on night tours or mineral exploration workshops. For more information and contact if you wish to book, please visit https://podziemna-wieza.pl/
# 9 Pancake expedition at Hut Górzystów
There is no other mountain shelter in Poland that is so associated with pancakes. Hut Górzystów has been run by one family for many years, and true gourmets are attracted to its modest thresholds at Hala Izerskich. There are several options to get to Chatka, if you decide to set off from Świeradów, you can shorten the route by deciding to take the gondola lift to Stóg Izerski.
What’s there for children?
Anything can happen in Banachówka. The playground does not end with a swing or a wooden house, but continues in the footsteps of the Jizera streams, forest paths and mud puddles. In winter, we encourage you to build snowmen in the yard, go skiing in Szklarska Poręba or Świeradów and wild tobogganing. During the other seasons, the area offers unlimited possibilities for free frolics, running in puddles or rolling on the grass.
Among the interesting attractions, it is worth visiting Krobica, which houses an old mine, with a prepared tourist route. The local guides not only show you about the tunnels, but also organize workshops on searching for minerals and night tours with the ghosts living in this place. They also invite you to a family field game and classes on baking bread with an Izera witch. All information can be found at https://podziemna-wieza.pl/
