Our town took its name from the Kashubian word meaning worthless fodder. Supposedly. It is difficult to be sure until the end, since the Goths lived here, and Kashubians and Germans, and everyone put something of their own in this place. It is difficult to argue with history, but we will try anyway so that no one stabs our eyes with this worthlessness. Well, yes, the first value: distance to the sea. A quarter of an hour by car, twice as much by bike and you can race with seagulls on the beach. The second value: Pomeranian traditions. Within a short drive, you can pick a wonderful herb, tuck a Pomeranian sheep or take part in the Black Wedding (try to guess what is going on there). The third value: breakfast. The menu includes, among others baked tomatoes from your own garden, lemonade with fresh herbs, homemade cookies and herring (larger than at once). Guests say that it is tasty, healthy and unforgettable. Thank you!
Anyway, we bow with our friend from Siedlisko Gregorowo, hidden just below Ustka. The habitat creates a house with space for up to 12 guests, which we rent as a whole or as individual rooms, with a shared space downstairs. There is a wild garden around, purring cats underfoot, and horses running across the meadow outside the window.
We invite you to the idyllic fragrant sea!
The town on the outskirts of Siedlisko is called Charnowo. It has quite long traditions, because it appeared in documents for the first time in 1310. Today, people are greeted with the label '' the perfect place to rest '', because on the one hand it is not far from the sea, but on the other far enough not to let them reach here waffle booths.
When in the years 2000-2010, during our studies and immediately afterwards, we traveled together across Europe, we lived in different places. We especially liked the idea of staying overnight not in hotels, but in rooms shared at home, with a delicious morning breakfast. The opportunity to talk to the owner about the area and the opportunity to get tips on what to see or which restaurant to avoid from a distance was a very inspiring experience for us. During our travels, we have made a decision that we also want to create such a place. And this is how our Siedlisko Gregorowo was born.
We rent the habitat entirely for exclusive use or as single rooms. The entire house is 250 square meters and its 5 bedrooms can accommodate a maximum of 12 guests. Each bedroom has its own bathroom. On the ground floor of the house there is a living room, dining room with kitchen, access to the terrace and a fenced garden. When you decide to book the whole thing, you can order breakfast (additionally payable PLN 30 / person). There is also a sauna on site.
You just need a room? Then you can choose a double room. with a double bed (we have three such rooms) or a triple room with a double bed and a single bed (we have two such rooms). All bedrooms have their own bathrooms, and breakfast with local products is included in the rental price. Both you and other guests will have at your disposal a spacious living room with a fireplace, a kitchen with a dining room, a fenced garden, a sauna and a table for board games.
The room on the ground floor is a room with disabled access - no stairs. The only obstacle is the step to the terrace. However, we do not have any handles or other amenities.
Ask about the possibility of preparing breakfast - if we are there during your stay, we will prepare it for an additional fee (PLN 30 per person).
For breakfast, we only serve what we would eat with pleasure: eggs from happy hens from the neighborhood - from Charnów or Niestkowo, goat cheese from Mrs. Ania, our neighbor, seasonal vegetables from the garden or market, herbs from our own herbarium (from which we make infusions and lemonade). , fresh bread from a local bakery, homemade jams, honey from friendly apiaries, cold meats and sausages (of better quality than store bought ones, of course). In addition, freshly ground coffee, homemade cakes and cookies.
Depending on availability, there are also: freshly smoked mackerel or herring in the form of salads - homemade salad, of course, and herring from Ustka.
Horses graze in Siedlisko, you can light a fire on the banks of Słupia or read a book by stretching your legs on a deckchair. We also supplemented the house with a large library, a collection of board games and the possibility of free bike rental.
What's going on in the world? The habitat smoothly turns into a green grove, which you can move around a bit before breakfast. The green grove turns smoothly into meadows and fields where the wind blows and poppies turn red in the summer. If you look at the map, you will see that, with a little bit of combining, you will cycle along dirt roads all the way to the sea. Doesn't that sound like a fun adventure?
Since we are talking about bikes, there is a bicycle trail leading from Ustka to Słupsk by the house. It partially coincides with the so-called bicycle trail. USB (abbreviation of city names: Ustka, Słupsk, Bytów). Next, the international R-10 route runs along the section between Ustka and Rowy, along the former embankment of the railway line, which was dismantled after World War II. There is also an interesting Griffin Ring to drive. For a bit more ambitious, we recommend the access to the Gardno lake (18 km one way) and climbing the local viewpoint. Almost at the very shore of the Baltic Sea runs the Baltic Seaside Trail, from which you can easily go down to the beach, for example for a quick swim or walking on the sand with your feet.
The proximity of the Słupia River is another ace up your sleeve (actually in a life jacket). There are regular canoeing trips on the river where you can row less, more or not at all (not at all) in a hurry.
Let's not forget about the cities. Especially that the nearby Słupsk (14 km by car, 12 km by bike) can really surprise you. For example, the fact that it is here that the largest collection of Witkacy's works is located in the world. Yes, the one from Zakopane! The collection includes approx. 260 portraits, drawings and graphics. The city has even prepared a tourist trail following the artist's footsteps. More information - including the family game - can be found on the official website of Słupsk https://www.slupsk.pl/turysta/trasy-turystyczne/szukajac-witkacego
Once in Słupsk, take a walk along the river and look at the Witches' Tower. On its roof you will see a witch flying in the wind. It is an infamous memory of the trial of 1701, which ended with the burning of Trina Papisten, accused of witchcraft. Currently, Baszta houses a branch of the Baltic Gallery of Contemporary Art.
Now let's head north. There, right by the sea, Ustka awaits with its beaches and city attractions. However, instead of collecting Chinese souvenirs with the inscription I love Ustka, we recommend collecting memories and experiences. Such experiences can be provided by Blucher Bunkers, which are open all year round. Quite a lot is happening there: from archery classes, through individual tours, to treasure hunts. Check out http://bunkryustka.pl/ to find out more. Of course, go to the beaches as well - the less crowded ones can be found in Orzechowo and Poddąbie. The cliffs will provide natural viewpoints.
Or maybe you are interested in getting to know Kashubian culture better? If so, drive to the open-air museum in Kluki, where the Black Wedding takes place at the beginning of May. It is a traditional event inspired by the extraction of black peat by the Slovincians (the so-called Kashubians of the Łeba Region), which was once used to heat houses. Other dates of events such as 'around the fish' or 'farewell to summer' can be found on the open-air museum website https://muzeumkluki.pl/oferta/wydarzenia/
Another interesting point on the cultural map of Pomerania is the Museum of Folk Culture of Pomerania in Swołów. There you will find activities for both children and adults, such as folk medicine, animals in a farmyard and Pomeranian beer. Jump in here: https://muzeum.swolowo.pl/edukacja/
What’s there for children?
We have a play corner in the children's home. Outside, there is a house with a slide, a trampoline, a ball game goal, and badminton rackets. Our pets give children a lot of joy: two cats, a dog and a horse.
As we wrote in the above category, we have great bike paths - also friendly to the youngest. The nearby Ustka offers attractions in the form of beaches or bunkers, and it is worth visiting Słupsk to play in the footsteps of Witkacy. Visiting open-air museums is also a cool idea. Especially that in Swołowo, children can not only learn about the traditions of Pomerania, but also see the animals that live there every day: Polish long-haired sheep, Pomeranian goose or musk ducks.
