We had to bring a 32-ton crawler excavator to the Rościszów meadow. She got stuck in a ravine on her way up a 22-degree slope. It went downhill from there. We managed to successfully prepare a ledge in the rock on which our house stood, as well as level the area. In the spring there will be a flower meadow here. It will burst with colors surrounded by planted trees and a vegetable garden based on the principles of permakutura. The three most important were written down in 1929 by Joseph Russell Smith. They read: take care of the earth, take care of people, share the excess. We accept it as our motto, which is why we wanted to offer you half a hectare of undisturbed privacy with a view of the valley of the Kłomnica stream, the gentle hills of Owl Mountains and the surrounding forests.
A black house in a Norwegian climate, with relaxing interiors filled with pine wood and pleasant details, has the magical property of disappearing. It melts with the onset of darkness, and provides separation from reality for a small group of newcomers. You can stay anywhere from here or move in any direction to find yourself on forest paths leading to the mountains. In the forests, there are glossy blackthorns, Australian arils, stinkhorns and club rots. You will also find them in the atlas of mushrooms. Our neighbors are mouflons in large herds, you can also meet deer, roe deer and foxes. One of them kept us company by the fire. We don't know if he's the same one who snatched the shoes left on the terrace. However, we do not want to separate ourselves from the forest. It is supposed to be here: naturally, ecologically and in the future self-sufficient.
Set your status to out of town and come reboot.
We invite you to a black house with a magical property of disappearing. After dark, our house becomes completely invisible. And everything is correct, because here, by the valley of the Kłomnica stream, on the edge of the forest and in the immediate vicinity of the Sowie Mountains Landscape Park, people come here to disappear from the world's sight for a moment and separate from reality. The house has a modern shape and is based on ecological assumptions. Its well-thought-out interiors, decorated in black and white colors with green accents, are a comfortable asylum for 2-4 people. An additional two can sleep on the sofa bed in the living room.
The house with a Scandinavian character has 55 m². On the first floor there are two separate bedrooms and a toilet. In the larger bedroom, we have prepared a bed with a medical grade mattress, over 20 cm thick and 200 x 200 cm, with a view of the wall of trees and the mountainside. On the ground floor there is a bathroom with a shower, a kitchenette and a dining room connected to the living room with a fold-out corner. In this space there are also: a fireplace stove and a couch located by the panoramic window. This is the perfect place to take a nap and relax with a book, your own or from our small library. There is a 35-meter terrace in front of the house. In the utility storage there are: wood for the fireplace and a grill. There is also a fireplace on the plot.
You can come to us for work holidays. Both bedrooms have small desks. The internet works fine, we have strengthened its signal from the terrace side so that working outside is also possible.
We have half a hectare of land surrounded by forest. There are no neighbors, although recently the fox was sitting with us by the fire. It is possible to visit other animals: cows, wild boars, roe deer, deer, and perhaps even mouflons.
The house was built on the basis of natural raw materials and is filled with such materials. We have an ecological septic tank (so please use the cosmetics waiting at home), compost bins and water from a deep well, which is drinkable and very tasty. We want the house to become fully self-sufficient over time. By introducing our own cleaning here, we try not to interfere too much with nature and not separate it from the forest. We want to grow our own food, so a greenhouse and a permaculture garden were created for this purpose. We will appreciate if you want to water it during the warm months.
We did not want to concrete our plot. The asphalt road ends about 400 meters before the plot. The remaining distance is covered by an unpaved road, covered with stones. The passage can be a bit difficult in winter, but a plow comes here and it is usually possible even without a 4x4 drive. If the entry is not possible, you can leave the car downstairs or make an appointment with us - we have an off-road car.
In the kitchen (as well as in the entire interior), our aim was to prepare everything that may be useful during a shorter or longer separation from reality. On the way, just visit a local store and you won't be going anywhere anymore. For coffee lovers, we have a pressure coffee maker and coffee. You can enjoy it on the terrace. The same goes for tea lovers waiting to be brewed. You will have plenty of pots, dishes, plates and glasses. We remembered about the salad spoons and vegetable peelers. And if you miss something in the kitchen, let us know, we will fill it in for the future.
You can come to Cicha Woda for trout from the pond, and in Lasocin for honey. To the forest for mushrooms and vegetables to our garden.
Over the Rościszowska valley, we implemented our forest project. It was created from two needs: space and contact with nature. These were born in us when, after a forced return from India caused by a pandemic, we got stuck in a renovated apartment for a month. We felt how much we needed a place to escape and disconnect for a while.
We found them in the Owl Mountains, just over an hour from Wrocław. You can hide here, breathe, catch your balance and enjoy your company. You can move from here to the mountains (just go in any direction) or not move at all, enjoying the area filled with nature and listening to a nature playlist. Her biggest hits are: the chirping of crickets, the buzzing of bees, the hooting of owls and the grunting of wild boars. You don't need any other music, just like a TV set, because the performances are played by nature around the clock.
The first is the view here, which is best enjoyed from the terrace. The plot is surrounded by deciduous trees that explode with juicy green in the spring, caress the eyes with its intense shade in the summer, and delight with a whole palette of colors in autumn. The view of the forest and the mountain will be the first thing you see when you wake up in the master bedroom.
Forest walks are within walking distance. You can go to Lasocin, go through ravines or wander aimlessly, exploring untrodden paths and enjoying the complete lack of people.
The forests surrounding us are full of mushrooms that can be picked all year round. Avid mushroom pickers will be delighted by the variety of specimens found here (note! not all of them are edible), you can come across: oyster mushrooms, pine seat (called goat's beard), glossy blackgrass, Australian plague, stink stinkhorn and club rot. Our record: twenty different edible species of mushrooms collected during one trip.
We believe that a bonfire is good at any time of the year, especially in winter, when you watch the stars in its company. Sometimes you can also count on the company of a fox. And if not a fireplace, then a fireplace waiting inside.
Directly from the plot you can go to Wielka Sowa, the highest peak of the Owl Mountains. You'll get there in less than two hours. The beginning is not a trail, but forest paths. However, you can drive up to the village bordering on us and start the trail from there.
At Lake Bielawskie you will find a sandy beach, a swimming pool and a water equipment rental. And at Lake Bystrzyckie you can walk on a footbridge, visit the aquarium and drop into the Grodno castle. An interesting fact: at the bottom of Lake Bystrzyckie there is a sunken mining settlement of Schlesiertal (Silesian Valley).
In Osówka, 15 km away, you can visit the underground city. It is an underground network of tunnels and rooms dug by prisoners, commissioned by the Nazis, the purpose of which remains a mystery to this day. You try to dispel it while walking one of the routes - extreme, which is located sixteen floors underground and has a length of 1500 m.
Downhill and cross-country trails are within a dozen or so kilometers. For cross-country skiing, we recommend the area of Wielka Sowa, Przełęcz Jugowska and Walimska, and Bielawska Polanka. You can go skiing to Rzeczka and Sokolec or to Jugów and to the slope of Wielka Sowa.
For bike lovers, there are MTB trails in the area, and for horse lovers - a stud farm in the village.
We could go on for a long time, but we know from experience that sometimes less is enough for well-being.
What’s there for children?
The stairs leading to the second floor are secured only with a rope. We also don't have any special attractions for children.
Due to the surroundings, the steep plot, the presence of rocks and a pond, we invite families with older children to visit us.
If you want to come with the younger ones, please let us know.
