Are you wondering what Vincentka mineral water from Luhačovice and the Slovak cable car to Lomnický štít have in common? Are we mixing apples and pears? No, no, we don't mix and we'll tell you - Slovakian. Architect Dušan Jurkovič. Specifically here in Luhačovice, his handwriting is inspired by folk art and ornaments. You can discover all this with your own eyes and feet in the corners of the spa. Sure, you'll think it's just another place where people go for treatment, but... We'll be happy to mislead you and hopefully convince you otherwise.
But watch out! This is not just about the charm of the spa town, colonnades or old villas. It is also about the endless hills and meadows of the White Carpathians, old wooden houses or forgotten stories and hidden secrets. And we invite you to discover them and enjoy them with us. So don't hesitate to pack your hiking boots in your backpacks and prepare your bikes for the trek.
I, Darja, together with my husband Vilém, have created a place for relaxation in nature and we invite you to join us. To the hill, to the house above the valley, where we believe you will catch the flow and enjoy your slow ;)
You will see for yourself that we hid the cottage in a nice place. For your own eyes, if you go on a journey - I will not go here to our hill. So the answer to the silent questions in your head is yes, you better pack snow chains in winter.
But back to our little house. He grew up on a hill above the valley of the spa town. So you will have about half and half. A little secluded when you crave chirping birds and each other's company, yet close to the city center where you can indulge in culture or visit cafes when you decide to socialize.
On the ground floor of the house you will find a living room connected to the kitchen and bathroom. There is also a stove to warm you up in the winter, and to keep your feet warm, the house also has underfloor heating.
Upstairs there are two separate bedrooms - each with a double bed and another full-sized bed for one or two.
TERRACE & GARDENS
Directly from the living room and kitchen with a French window you can reach the terrace with seating. From there it is just a step to the large garden and the garden grill. You can thus find your own place for an undisturbed rest or think about which bush to pluck a tasty treat from in the summer.
PRIVATE WELLNESS
We have prepared a wood-heated bathing barrel for our guests. After winter skiing or hiking in the hills, you can refresh your tired muscles in warm mineral water.
WATER
And there's one more thing we'd like to tell you. You already know that we are above the spa town. And since a spa means mineral springs, you can count on such water here in our house as well. No, don't worry, the water isn't bad, it's drinkable, but your unaccustomed nose may not react kindly to it at first.
Does anyone aspire to the order of the golden spoon? Even if not, ditch all the diets and indulge in some holiday treats, including those in the form of chocolate chip pancakes, what do you say?
You can sit at the kitchen table or on the terrace, where the garden grill and fireplace will be your best companions.
Our house is surrounded by a garden with fruit trees, fruit bushes and a vegetable garden. And when the season comes, don't be shy to offer yourself. We don't need to tell you that these goodies taste completely different from the ones from the supermarket ;)
We don't know where to start. In our opinion, there is a lot to discover here, and it doesn't matter whether you prefer wandering around the city, learning about history, wellness or whether you want to ride a bike through the White Carpathians. It doesn't matter whether you are young or old, with or without children. Everyone can choose exactly according to their taste.
But pretty neat...
Hurry to Luhačovice!
It will take you about half an hour on foot from us - and even more precisely, 1 km by road or a little faster by a shortcut ;) And here in Luhačovice, the spa colonnade, the famous Vincentka mineral water or the architecture of the magician Dušan Jurkovič await you. Want to know more about it? In the Museum of Luhačovice Zálesí you will find his cabinet and you can see other exhibitions as well. We really like Jurkovič and the work he created here. In his honor, we also have Jurkovičova Alley, and you can follow it all the way to the dam in Pozlovice. Feel free to go there on roller skates if you want ;)
And we could add the White and Prague districts with their villas, the oldest mineral spring in Luhačovice Aloiska, Bedřich Smetana's House, Jurkovič's House, a chocolate shop in a villa that once used to be a pharmacy... You can spice up the diverse tastes of our town with festivals and don't miss out on not only the multi-genre one - Luhovany Vincent, but also those that take place in the surrounding villages.
Would you believe that we are still only in Luhačovice? And we haven't even mentioned the White Carpathians on the Czech and Slovak sides, the Vizovické hills, Vlachovice with its traditional herb and fruit drying room, the typical log cabins in Valašské Klobouky, the oldest of which dates from the 18th century, the pilgrimage church Malenisko nad Provodem, Uherský Brod, Zlín, where you can follow in Bata's footsteps...
We could seriously list for a long time. But you know you don't have to do anything at all.
Choose what interests you and what you want or don't want to do…
