In the places where several hundred years ago there was an inhospitable, impenetrable forest, today our log cabin is located. The wooded landscape was divided up by the workers only in the 13th century at the hands of their master, Olomouc Bishop Bruno of Schauenburg. Each worker was given a measured plot of land, which he had to clear, build a dwelling on it and start farming. And with that they built the foundations of our picturesque village, Ostravice. The first written mention of it comes from the plowman of the Hukvald manor from 1581. However, the materials about the establishment of the village apparently burned in the archive of Hukvald Castle, so it is still shrouded in mystery.
But the most important thing is how it looks today in the place under Lysa hora. No one would describe the landscape as inhospitable. Beautiful nature and sunny meadows are criss-crossed by rivers and bordered by mountain ridges. Wherever the eye can see, the soul dances. Our Roubenka na santi is set in the hills of Ostravica. Breathtaking Beskydy nature, forests, meadows and mountain peaks spread all around. You can enjoy views of them from all windows, from the garden and balcony terrace as well as from the outdoor hot tub.
We renovated the original log cabin with our own hands in order to preserve its nostalgic atmosphere, while serving for your maximum possible rest. That's also why we built a Finnish sauna with a relaxation room in the basement and put a wine cellar at your disposal, filled to the ceiling with various flavors of white and red.
The cottage has 2 bedrooms, a living room with a kitchen, a sauna and a wine cellar. Couples, families with children and groups of friends come to us.
2 BEDROOMS
One bedroom is located on the ground floor, the other in the attic. In both you will find a double bed and a sofa, which can become a bed for a third person if necessary. You can fall asleep while observing the original beams and watch the cracks that time has drawn on them. There is a TV in the upper bedroom, so if you are traveling with children, they can spend the morning with fairy tales while you snooze contentedly in the lower bedroom.
LIVING ROOM
In the living room there is a giant sofa bed that can accommodate two sleepers if needed. During the day, you can sit on it and watch movies on the flat screen, or play a board game on the table. In the evening, drop by our wine shop and choose what is most pleasing to your taste buds. In winter, don't forget to warm up in the beautiful oval fireplace. You always have wood ready right next to you, so you don't have to run around the forest and collect twigs yourself. But the heat is also provided by the central heating, so even if you forget to bring it, you won't freeze with us.
BATHROOM
The bathroom on the ground floor is equipped with a luxurious, free-standing bathtub. Line the bathroom with candles, pour yourself a glass of wine and prepare a bath fit for kings. If you complement everything with pleasant music, you will come out of the spa as a completely new person. When else do you have time to enjoy an hour to yourself in the tub than during your vacation?
The equipped kitchenette offers everything you need to be completely self-sufficient in terms of food. In pleasant summer weather, we recommend setting up an outdoor table under a parasol on the large terrace, letting the gentle breeze blow you around and enjoying the view of the trees and hills.
The children will surely like it if you spread a blanket for them in our garden and let them have a picnic. In the meantime, you can have a coffee on the terrace upstairs and check from above to see if the children are doing anything wrong. Here you can open a book, enjoy a romantic moment for two, or open a wine with friends from our wine shop.
WINE ROOM WITH SEATING
The wine cellar is available to you in winter and summer. You can take the bottle away or sit in our cellar in privacy. Wooden benches with blankets serve mainly as a rest area after a sauna, but since it offers a wonderful view of the surroundings, it can also be used as a romantic retreat in winter.
We choose the wines ourselves. For white we prefer Czech winemakers, for red we prefer foreign, especially French wines. The offer always includes several dozen bottles, so you can taste and deepen your sommelier skills.
BARBECUE ON THE TERRACE
There is a large grill ready for you on the terrace, so the hot coals will take care of dinner. If you forget to bring your own meat and vegetables, go to the shop, which is 1.5 km from the cottage.
In winter, you can hide from the blizzard in the living area and sit together at the solid wood table with the soothing crackling of the fireplace.
You can really do anything with us. Whether you prefer an active holiday full of walks, cycling trips or skiing, or a maximum passive relaxation time, a stay with us will definitely fulfill your dreams.
FINNISH SAUNA
A Finnish sauna has been built in the basement for body and soul relaxation. If you are an experienced sauna user, you know that short stays in the sauna must be interspersed with rest away from the blazing heat. The rest area with a sink, shower and a wonderful view is equipped with blankets so you don't get too cold. It's also good to have a good drink here. And even though you'll be surrounded by great wines right here, we recommend drinking water and leaving the wine for later. In the summer, the deckchairs on the terrace will also serve you well for relaxation.
POOL AND HOT TUB
From warm spring to autumn, we prepare a seasonal pool and hot tub on the terrace. Here we can only recommend meditation with a glass of wine. Only a few hot tubs offer such a wonderful view as ours. The free-standing pool is more for getting hot bodies wet - if you want to have a good swim, we recommend one of the nearby swimming pools.
TRIPS
It would be a shame not to explore the surroundings, because the Beskydy offers many natural beauties. In addition, you can stick to the "teddy bear" routes, which easily tire children's legs. For example, you can go to Medvědí skála - a sandstone tooth with a beautiful view of the surroundings.
If you are a fan of the anarchist rioter Petr Bezruč, you can visit his cabin. The Silesian Regional Museum has kept the interior of the log cabin in its original form, which was designed by the poet himself. You can thus walk in his footsteps and touch the past of the Beskydy Mountains, which are so closely connected with his work. There is also a woodshed in close proximity to the log cabin, in which the museum exhibition is located.
A walk to the Smrčina mountain will stun you with its many romantic views and nooks and crannies. Colorful butterflies will accompany you along the paths, decorated with blueberries and blackberries. Make a stop at the Liščí díry rock formation, where you can enjoy the unusual view of Lysá hora to your heart's content.
You can carefully admire virgin nature in the nearby nature reserve Mazácký Grúnik. Beech, spruce, fir and maple trees will draw you into their greenery and help you clear your head of everyday worries. Enjoy a genuine woodland symphony led by the rhythmic drumming of woodpeckers and woodpeckers, complemented by a variety of talented bird songstresses.
SKIING
You can get to know Ostra Hora, Smrčina and Staškov Mountain very well with the help of a perfectly groomed cross-country trail. You can hop on near the cottage and enjoy a whole day of hiking in the area.
If you prefer downhill skiing to tackling contours, then the Ostrá or Malenovice ski areas will come in handy. The nearest ski lift is located 4 km from our cottage.
What’s there for children?
The children are completely happy in our giant garden. The land is terraced, so climbing a gentle hill all day will surely tire the children. We also have a small sandpit at the cottage for the little ones.
The Beskydy Mountains are ideal for trips with children. You can go "on the bear's paws", which are color-marked routes, also suitable for children. For example, you can handle the green "hare" trail even with a stroller.
If the children are willing to learn something, take them along the Lysá hora educational trail. The route is 16.5 km long and quite demanding, so it is more suitable for older children. It starts at the railway station in Ostravica and has a total of 15 stops, where you will learn stories about caves and treasures, about the robber Ondráš and how the landscape looked like here before and how it is now.
In the summer, you can go to the nearby swimming pools with your children. The closest one is located in Frýdlant nad Ostravicí. But if you prefer a place where you can frolic in chemical-free water, we recommend the beautiful Bečva biotope, where water purification is the concern of cleverly planted aquatic plants.
The rope maze Opičárna is 1.5 kilometers away from the cottage, and the tricky routes full of obstacles will torment not only children, but also adults. If you complete more than one route, your muscles will make themselves known in the evening and the next day. Although we have the sauna!
