The first to greet the new day is Alvaro's rooster. He collects his flock of chickens the way we collect fresh eggs every morning. Behind the fence, these actions are followed by the neighbor-sheep, and their unoccupied hands will quickly get a job scratching the shepherd dogs behind the ears. After this daily ritual, you can grab a sunbed, cross the meadow and hide from the world by the Czarny Dunajec river. Or jump into the mountains, because from Witów to the Tatra National Park it's a chamois jump. Just plan a break for sheep's milk ice cream in Dolina Chochołowska. If you are hungry, we send you to Tosia's cousin, who makes dumplings by hand on the other side of the street. We will also be happy to drop you local cheeses, colorful eggs and vegetables from our own garden.
We invite you to a house that used to be my father's carpentry shop. We arranged sleeping on the mezzanine on two double mattresses, so the arrangement is just right for couples, a well-coordinated group of friends or a small family. Kids, however, take a little older - such already in preschool age, because the stairs to the first floor can be a challenge for the little ones. For older children, we have prepared a playground and a lot of rural pleasures.
Come on, the sheep behind the fence are waiting to be cuddled!
Sheep behind the fence is a two-story house in dad's old carpentry shop. On the first level there is a relaxation area: a living room with a sofa, a smart TV with access to Netflix, books and even a radio, a dining table with four armchairs, a fully equipped kitchenette with a coffee-maker and a bathroom with a shower. On the mezzanine with a large window there are two comfortable mattresses (160/200).
If you need more space, you can take a look at our 8-person Hut on the trail: https://slowhop.com/pl/miejsca/2533-szalas-na-szlaku.html
We have a fully equipped kitchenette - for your own creative inventions. On request, we will provide you with local goat cheese, colorful eggs from our happy hens and vegetables from our own garden. We also have a blueberry garden, a young orchard, a large raspberry plant and wild strawberry bushes.
Next to the house there is a dumpling shop with hand-made dumplings, run by my cousin Tosia. It invites you for classic dumplings, but also more intriguing ones: with sheep cheese or mountain trout. In the neighborhood, they also feed well in the family bistro Full Chata (here mainly pizzas, burgers and pasta).
Being in the vicinity of the Chochołowska Valley, be sure to stop for sheep's milk ice cream (''Lódgór'') or a delicious regional dinner at the Ziębówka Restaurant.
There is a meadow in Owce, which leads straight to the Czarny Dunajec River. We recommend taking sunbeds under your arm and going to sunbathe. There is also a garden fireplace, a hammock and benches.
Our hens and neighbors - sheep grazing behind the fence (especially young lambs) do not take prisoners and touch even the most urban hearts. However, take into account the fact that animals have their own smells, and a neighbor who runs a large farm is not able to arrange his machines neatly in a row every day. Through the windows you can see this rural chaos, which is not to everyone's taste.
We are in the mountain village of Witów. Compared to other Podhale resorts, it does not lack anything, maybe only the crowds that can be found there during the season. Mountaineers, however, must be warned that when reaching the nearest peak, Magura Witowska 1232 m above sea level, there is no way to get tired, fortunately, we have only 5 - 10 minutes by car to the nearby valleys: Chochołowska, Kościeliska and Lejowa.
In addition, close to Sheep you will find, among others:
- Witów Ski ski lift (you can see it from the window),
- Chochołowskie Baths (we recommend these in the off-season, as there are no crowds),
- illuminated cross-country trails in Kościelisko (sometimes we do a small loop behind the house),
- bicycle path around the Tatra Mountains (you can bring your bikes or rent them on site).
What’s there for children?
The garden has a large sandbox, a slide and a stork's nest. All the structures were made by Grandpa Alek. In summer, we connect the hose and you can run barefoot on wet grass under the sprinkler. Children can also nibble raspberries and wild strawberries growing in the garden and feed the happy chanterelles with the host. A nice attraction is watching your neighbor's sheep during feeding time.
In winter, we recommend sledding and skiing - the ski lift is nearby, and there are hills for both children and adults. We leave ballers, sleds and apples for your use. In summer, children build dams on the Czarny Dunajec River and look for grasshoppers in the grass.
Our neighbors' children often come to us and a larger group can run around the meadow, organize a bicycle race, or go crazy with cooking in the mud kitchen.
What’s there for employees?
We have free WiFi throughout the cottage and in some places in the garden (fiber optic). However, the best place to work is at the dining table (strategically next to the portafilter). It is also good to work on the balcony and straight from the bed, as long as the views are not too distracting...
