Karczemka came into our hands together with Marian. Marian is in his teens and the previous owner didn't want to stress him out with the move. He decided that it would be better for Marian. Once in a while she sends him a carton of cans, and we still can't guarantee that Marian won't come and nuzzle you when you're enjoying zander in white wine or snake cream in our restaurant. And the cuisine we have here is not only delicious, but also picturesque, no less than the landscape along the Elbląg Canal. We would like to exhibit the landscapes painted on plates by our chef in a museum.

“What can a 'city' lady find among forests and lakes, in such a wilderness?” In 1889, Matylda, whose correspondence was in our collection, asked her friend Klara in a letter. We answer the doubts of the modern Matylda: a city lady, tired of working at a desk, bored with everyday life, a connoisseur of meticulously carried out renovations, hungry for a bit of luxury, will find a lot for herself here. From the lush garden he will look at Lake Piniewo and plan trips along the trail of arcaded houses in nearby Żuławy. In a sudden need for exercise, he can sit in a kayak and move up the canal or get on a bike and go for a trip along it. We will rent her both a bike and a kayak. After returning, if you are tired, we will invite you to the sauna, for a massage, or to the hot tub. And if the lady has her chosen one with her, so much the better. We are a perfect choice for romantic weekends and even Marian will not disturb you in your ecstasy among the nature of Karczemka.

PS The owners of the farm are 6 friendly pairs of veterinarians. There were times when we hosted a cow here. Do we need to mention that all Matildas come to us with their pets?

"Klara! How beautiful Karczemka is! Try to imagine a narrow spit of land surrounded by water, with an old mill and a park on it. (...) A park with ubiquitous oaks and linden trees (...) How distant the city and its entertainment seem to me," wrote Matylda.
The manor farm, picturesquely situated on Lake Piniewo, houses several historic buildings.

Life revolves primarily around the Mill – the one with the mint veranda. Here you'll find our restaurant "Szara Reneta," the orangery, and the fireplace room. Three apartments are also available for rent here.

Other apartments and rooms are located in the Miller's Villa, the Old Shipwreck building, the Coach House, or the Fisherman's House. Not all of them are currently available for booking on Slowhop, but we will gradually expand the selection. The rooms vary in size, and each is decorated slightly differently, but in a similar style. Each has a private bathroom. Each has a TV. Only the apartment in Rybaczówka has a private kitchen; all others have only coffee and tea making facilities. We also offer accommodations for those who want to relax with a larger group of friends or family, yet value privacy and intimacy. We have prepared two villas for you in the Karczemka Siedlisko area, just a 5-minute drive away, across the canal and Lake Piniewo, where the access to the Siedlisko leads over a historic bridge (Villa Piniewo and Villa Rybaki).

The farm buildings begin approximately 300 meters from the S7 expressway, but the complex is spacious and surrounded by nature. We guarantee that you will breathe deeply and experience peace and quiet here.

"Well, imagine [My Dear], most dishes here are prepared from the bounty of the waters and forests. (...) Now I understand what extraordinary things the emperor discovered in this corner of the world. Until now, I'd only read about such dishes, borscht, and broths in books (...)" – this was written in Matylda's letter from 1898. I wonder what she would write today if she saw the dishes served at the "Szara Reneta" restaurant by our chef, Tomasz Bonisławski (just check out his Instagram!).

The menu is short, and the dishes are seasonal and made with the freshest ingredients. You'll find things like wild boar in red wine and dried mushrooms, fried pike-perch, and pierogi with deer. For vegetarians, we offer tagliatelle with bolete and truffle, and roasted cauliflower. You'll also have the opportunity to try snakehead soup or Masurian fish and crayfish soup.

Prices are approximately 60-70 PLN for a main course, approximately 25 PLN for soup, and approximately 40-45 PLN for pasta/dumplings.

Breakfast is served buffet-style from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM. If you're leaving early, that's no problem. We'll prepare lunch boxes for you on the go (even 4:00 AM isn't too early for us).

At 5:00 PM, just like the Queen of England, we serve "Five O'Clock Tea" on the tea terrace overlooking the canal. Room service is available from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM.

The Miller's Villa houses a unique, atmospheric wine cellar with a rich collection of wines from around the world. We organize tastings there, often in intimate settings, by candlelight and with wine stories. A fireplace, wooden finishes, and a peaceful, historic atmosphere complete the overall atmosphere – the perfect place for a fun evening.

We should also note that the "Szara Reneta" restaurant is located in the Mill. If you're staying in another building, remember that you'll have to walk a short distance for breakfast or dinner.

If you're wondering how to organize your time here, we recommend enjoying the benefits of the beautifully situated farmstead while alternating between exploring the Elbląg Canal area and the wider Warmia and Żuławy Vistula regions.

We are located on Lake Piniewo, which lies on the canal route. We offer:

– motorboats
– which you can use to navigate the lake or venture further afield.

Unfortunately, swimming is not permitted in the lake where we are located.

We also offer bicycles, and if you're wondering where to ride them, we'll be happy to suggest a route for your trip.

For hedonistic pleasures, we offer a sauna with a window overlooking Lake Piniewo, a spruce tub surrounded by greenery in the gazebo located on the lake's shore, and we also invite you to the outdoor jacuzzi located in the rose garden.

Feel free to enjoy the grounds and common areas of the farmstead. On cooler days, we suggest settling into comfortable armchairs and sofas, retreating to the conservatory to read books, chatting, or imagining life here in the past. In the warmer months, the action unfolds in the lush garden – on loungers, hammocks, and by the water. We have fishing rods, badminton rackets, and blankets for you to spread out in the grass. There's also a mini gym outside. We organize table football tournaments, Finnish bowling, and other team-building activities.

We recommend daily walks around the area, along the canal. You can also cycle along the same route.

Kayaking on the Elbląg Canal is also worth considering, starting not far from here, in Buczyniec. You can leave your car there and paddle out, and the organizers will pick you up wherever you can.

Of course, cruises on the Elbląg Canal are a major attraction. No wonder, where else in Poland can you sail on grass? Cruises run on various sections. There are routes lasting 2 hours or 4.5 hours. A sample route is from nearby Buczyniec to Elbląg, or a shorter route to Jelenia. The carrier provides a return bus to the starting point. Cruises run from early May to the end of September.

Nearby cities:
– Elbląg – its distinctive old/new town is a highlight. It is one of the oldest cities in Poland and also the lowest-lying. It was completely destroyed during World War II. Elbląg's "Old Town" was rebuilt in a style known as retroversion – in keeping with the former urban layout, but with a very loose reference to historical style and ornamentation.
– Morąg – belongs to the cittàslow network, or "slow cities" with a friendly urban infrastructure and places for rest and recreation, where life is good. You can visit the fascinating Teutonic castle here, which from the outside appears to be a ruin, but inside, in addition to valuable Renaissance polychromes, hides a rather controversial décor filled with trinkets.
– Ostróda – you can start your cruise on the Elbląg Canal right here, as the canal begins in the picturesquely situated Ostróda (on 5 lakes) (the best beach is supposedly on Lake Sajmino); it's worth visiting ul. Sienkiewicza, lined with beautiful historic villas and townhouses,
– Lidzbark Warmiński – home to the Warmian Bishops' Castle, said to be the most valuable Gothic monument in Poland, and the charming Krasicki Orangery.
– Malbork – a city in northern Poland, on the Nogat River, in the Pomeranian Voivodeship. The most famous attraction is the monumental Malbork Castle – the largest brick castle in the world.
– The castle was built in the 13th century by the Teutonic Order and served as the seat of the Grand Masters. The fortress consists of three parts: the High, Middle, and Low Castles. It currently houses a museum and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
– Olsztynek – a small town in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, located approximately 40 km south of Karczemka. It has a rich history dating back to the 14th century. Key attractions:
Olsztynek Castle – a Gothic Teutonic castle from the 14th century, now a museum.
Olsztynek Open-Air Museum (Museum of Folk Architecture) – one of the largest open-air museums in Poland, showcasing the traditional architecture of Warmia, Mazury, and Powiśle.
This quiet, historic town is popular with tourists visiting the Warmia and Mazury region.
-Grunwald – a village in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, known primarily for one of the most important battles in Polish history. On July 15, 1410, the Battle of Grunwald took place here, in which Polish-Lithuanian forces led by Władysław II Jagiełło and Vytautas defeated the Teutonic Order.
Today, the Grunwald Fields house a monument and museum, and re-enactments of the battle are held annually, attracting thousands of tourists.
-Iława – a town in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, situated on Lake Jeziorak, the longest lake in Poland. It's a popular destination for recreation and sailing. Iława and the surrounding area are associated with the character of Mr. Samochodzik, the protagonist of a series of adventure books by Zbigniew Nienacki. In his novels (including "Nowe według Pana Samochodzika"), the action often takes place in Masuria, around the region's lakes and historical monuments, which has contributed to the region's popularity among young readers.
- Frombork - (often confused with "Flombork") is a city on the Vistula Lagoon, strongly associated with Nicolaus Copernicus. Copernicus lived and worked here as a canon of Warmia for many years. In Frombork, he conducted astronomical observations, and it was here that he wrote his most famous work – De revolutionibus orbium coelestium, in which he presented the heliocentric theory.
The city's most important landmark is the Archcathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Andrew in Frombork, where Copernicus is buried. Cathedral Hill, with its towers and defensive walls, is one of the region's most valuable historical attractions.

Not far north of Karczemka, the Żuławy Wiślane region begins. This flat, horizon-spanning land, situated at the lowest elevation in Poland, was once inhabited by settlers from the Netherlands, the Mennonites. Today, you can admire true gems of their wooden architecture here. We recommend taking a tour of the arcaded houses (visit Stablewo, Orłowo, Żuławki, and Cyganek – here, at the Mały Holender restaurant, you can enjoy meatball soup and taste Żuławy Werderkäse cheese).

We welcome visits from children, but we must warn you that we haven't adapted the farm specifically with them in mind. We have books, board games, and extensive green space around us, but you won't find a playground, for example. Please also bear in mind that we are right by the water, and while fishing in the canal is pleasant, you should also keep an eye on the kids. If you think this form of family recreation suits you, we cordially invite you. We organize numerous art workshops for children, including building nesting boxes, kite-making, and culinary workshops, such as baking pizza or delicious cupcakes. For children, the farm also has a mini zoo where you can observe the animals and their habits.

Our internet allows you to work only to a not very advanced degree, because it is not the fastest in the world. We are still waiting for the optical fiber, which will be available in a few months. You can always rely on the Internet from a hot spot, it does not disappoint.

On the farm there will be several places where you can sit down with your laptop - on sofas and armchairs. Most rooms have desks or dressing tables. If you want a room with a desk, let us know.

We also have a conference room overlooking the lake, where you can work in a group, and even a projector.
