Piłatowszczyzna consists of 15 letters, but only four houses. But what to expect from Podlasie, the land of the ends of the world? There are so many of them here that you can run rankings as to which one is the most definitive. Asphalt smoothly turns into cobblestone heads, and after a while into gravel and eternal dust. The roads seem to lead somewhere, but more often they go nowhere, dissolving among the swamps. Orthodox cemeteries have Slavic burial mounds as neighbors, and the Tatar mosque is just a short walk from the Jewish cemetery. You can see this cultural melting pot on the plate, you can hear it in the pronunciation.
Maybe it was this diversity that attracted Bunia to this place? Or maybe it was the Knyszyńska Forest, in whose greenery the Green House was hidden? Suffice it to say that in the 1980s she came from Warsaw to Podlasie with a suitcase in her hand and the decision that from now on she would spend half a year here. She didn't have a driver's license, shopped at a traveling shop, and spent most of her time gardening and entertaining friends. When my sister and I started taking care of our Podlasie Bullerbyn, we refreshed it a bit, making room for 7 guests in two bedrooms and an open attic. The world is rushing somewhere, but here life still flows like water in ponds visible from the terrace - calmly and without haste. The Internet appeared, but the mobile shop disappeared, so you have to walk 4 km to get fresh rolls to the Eastern Road.
If you like this retreat and want to see what it looks like at God's place behind the stove, I invite you to the green thresholds - open from May to the end of September. Don't be a cause of dog sadness - take furries with you.

I am a designer from Warsaw. I currently live and work here, but I have also lived in Brazil, Portugal and London. I love to travel and move whenever I can. The Green House belonged to my Bunia, who loved the countryside and spent 6 months a year here. Now me and my sister Asia take care of the house. We associate this place with total freedom. As children, we spent long holidays with Bunia, discovering the secrets of the Forest, helping in the garden and inventing new games every day, in one of the most beautiful places in Poland. Now we come here with our families and we are happy to share this unique place with others.
