It is said that a picture says more than 1000 words. But wait until you get there. When the vision turns into a three-dimensional reality, there is a risk of delight - at the sight of a mountain valley bathed in sunlight, fallow deer lounging on the slope and mowing the pasture evenly. We invite you to the green end of Ochotnica Dolna, at the foot of Lubań. We have a quiet guesthouse with breakfasts to order, 5 hectares of land, a herd of spotted fallow deer and a dog Brutus - the favorite of all guests.
It is enough to go behind the fence on the trail, and people come especially in October for the spectacle of autumn colors and the rut broadcast. On summer nights, you can admire the Perseid rain and listen to the crickets, the brook and the hooting of the owls. You knock on your neighbor's door for fresh trout, as well as eggs, dried mushrooms and honey. The condition is checked during the Ochotnica Challenge, and the delight of nature is experienced at the top of Sokolica. I don't think you need to convince anyone about Gorce and Pieniny. Come to our end of the world and fall in love at first sight.
Welcome to our home. We want you to make yourself at home here, near Luban, and feel at ease. That is why we discreetly run our agritourism, at the same time making sure that you do not miss anything.
We have rooms for you: 2, 3 and 4 people. Each room has a separate bathroom with a shower, a set of towels and soap.
- A double room (eastern, with a balcony) has two single beds that can be joined together.
- Triple room (South) with three single beds (two of them are connected).
- Quadruple room (southern) with a double bed and two single beds.
The entire attic is occupied by a 6-person apartment. The apartment consists of two bedrooms with bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, a living area with a dining table and a seating area with a TV.
Bedroom No. 1 has a double bed and a sofa bed for two people.
Bedroom 2 has two single beds that can be joined together and a single sofa bed. This bedroom has skylights.
One large window from the apartment overlooks the fallow deer pasture, the other window by the dining table has a view of the trail and Mount Lubań - something beautiful. The window from both bedrooms overlooks the garden, the hut and the mountains.
In the common area for all guests there is a kitchenette (on the first floor), and on the ground floor there is a large kitchen with a dining room, an adjacent common toilet, exit to the terrace.
In our area there is also:
- Bacówka, a small wooden house where you can grill, spend a nice evening and play board games,
- place for a bonfire,
- playground,
- fallow deer and sheep pasture.
At home we have:
- shared kitchenette,
- shared large kitchen with dining room on the ground floor,
- a fully equipped kitchen in the apartment.
We also serve a buffet breakfast (upon request) in the large dining room on the ground floor. We try to serve you the best local products and dishes from the heart.
Our advantage is that we are located off the beaten track, but it also means that we do not have a shop in front of the house, you have to drive to the nearest one by car or bike about 1.5 km.
Let's start with our own backyard. Time spent with animals provides peace and is even therapeutic. You can hand-feed fallow deer, find out that goats are very similar to dogs and watch how sheep mow the grass evenly. You can spend the evenings on the covered terrace, by the fire or in the shepherd's hut, where there is a stone grill, tables and a place to sit.
Gorce and Pieniny do not need to be advertised to anyone. They are great at delighting walkers, avid athletes, and sight-seekers. Our house is located near Lubań, as the name suggests, so you don't have to travel anywhere to go on the trail.
- 300 meters from our house leads the trail to Lubań, with a beautiful panorama of the Tatra Mountains and Lake Czorsztyńskie. A trip for 5-6 hours for tourists of average fitness.
- 10 kilometers in the direction of Nowy Targ is the Knurowska Pass, where you can leave your car and climb Turbacz and Jaworzyna Kamienicka (here too, about 6 hours should be enough). You can also follow the black trail and reach Stawek Pucułowski (5.5 hours from the pass both ways).
- For an afternoon walk, we suggest a 4-5 hour, not very tiring hike to Pańska Przehybka and return via Magurki. From Ochotnica Górna you need to go to the estate Jaczcze - approx. 12 km.
- To Gorc from Ochotnica (counting from the moment when the trail leaves the road in Gorcowe) it takes 5 hours both ways.
We can also recommend you two natural tourist attractions worth attention.
1. Four lookout towers: Gorc, Lubań, Koziarz and Magurki - you can put a stamp on each tower, you get a badge after conquering all four - it's a fun challenge not only for kids, but also for adults. The ascents are not difficult, but the views are fantastic.
2. Ochotnica Challenge: this is an attraction for seasoned cyclists and pedal lovers. A bicycle challenge during which 16 different climbs are conquered, the most difficult ones have 39 degrees. The event was initiated by a native Ochotniczanka Kasia Niewiadoma and this challenge is signed with her name. This is a real test for cyclists, but doable.
Now let's move on to Pieniny.
Not very high, but incredibly picturesque due to the views from the steep peaks of the Dunajec River. Several-hour trips to Sokolica or Trzy Korony, despite sometimes steep climbs, are within reach of tourists who are not experienced in mountain expeditions. It is also worth remembering about the highest peak of the Pieniny Mountains - Wysoka, which actually lies on the border with Slovakia.
From Krościenko nad Dunajcem (16 km from Ochotnica) you will climb Trzy Korony (4 hours round trip from Krościenko) and Sokolica (Kroscienka-Trzy Korony-Sokolica-Kroscienko - approx. 6 hours).
You can get to Wysoka - from Szlachtowa (yellow trail starts at the sawmill) or from Jaworki (beginning in the famous Homole Gorge, or a bit further in the Biała Woda reserve).
As if the mountains weren't enough, it's time for Beskid Sądecki.
From Szczawnica there is a trail to Przehyba (approx. 6 h), and from Biała Woda to Wielki Rogacz (approx. 5 h).
And Beskid Wyspowy.
- Mogielica (entrance to the trail from Szczawa - 22 km) entrance about 4.4 hours.
In addition to the mountains:
- Dunajec, so also rafting, kayaking, Velo Dunajec - beautiful views.
- Zalew Czorsztyński, for SUP, kayaking and fishing. You can visit the museum at the castle in Niedzica.
- In Szczawnica (22 km) you can rent bikes (PLN 4/h) and go along the Dunajec gorge to the Red Monastery in Slovakia (about 1.5 hours one way by bike, on foot - 2.5 hours), mostly on a flat path. You can return with a rented bike or go down the Dunajec gorge with raftsmen or a canoe (an option rather for those who have already been canoeing).
- From Szczawnica you can take the cable car to Palenica. There are also gravity slides in Kluszkowce (26 km) and Tatrzańska Łomnica in Slovakia (72 km).
- The historic churches in Krościenko nad Dunajcem, Trybsz and Dębno are worth seeing in the area.
- There are many places in the vicinity where you can pick mushrooms and catch trout - we will tell you where and what.
- An interesting alternative, especially when the weather is bad, is a trip to the caves in Slovakia. The nearest caves are Bielianska Cave (65-72 km) and Vazecka Cave (109-115 km).
What’s there for children?
The first and greatest joy for children are our pets. The kids run to the fallow deer in every free moment, because even-toed ungulates are hungry. Hand-feeding spotted fallow deer is quite an experience.
We cannot fail to mention our small and friendly dog Brutus (a name in spite of that). Brutus loves children.
In the yard we also have hills that are perfect for sledges and a playground (swing, house, slide, sandbox).
