We must start with dementia. No Marian will say good night to you here, you don't have to be afraid. The devil just didn't fit in this story. Because although Januszno is not ranked among the most popular Mazovian towns, my husband Mariusz alias Marian and our daughters lead a cheerful and carefree life here. And not in a hellish remote area, because although on the edge of the village, it is only 1.5 hours away from the capital. In the shadow of old alders, where crayfish used to be caught, we built two houses made of straw and clay - one for us, the other for guests. We showed the doubters that it is possible, and the idea for biobuilding was implemented thanks to my stubbornness, a great architect, two dump trucks of clay from Mr. Staś from the neighboring village and straw collected from my parents' field. And also teams with pitchforks that filled an impressive wooden frame with it, and a brave electrician who hung cables on this straw. Today, the rounded clay walls of the ground floor can be stroked, meals can be eaten by the fireplace in a group of up to 8 people, sitting on one of the couches on the first floor, and after the rain let yourself be surprised by the smell of thatched roof.
Days pass here learning the secrets of the garden, drinking coffee on a swing from an old door, sitting on benches, staring at butterflies, eating raspberries from the bushes and lighting a fire in the evenings. But you can also do it differently: play golf, sleep with the kids on a platform among the trees and get lost on the paths of one of the nearby nature reserves. One of them leads to the areas that Władysław Jagiełło visited 23 times. Because once you come here, you want to come back.
Go to Januszno, take a deep breath and just live. We invite you.
We welcome you on the outskirts of the village of Januszno, located in the commune of Pionki on the Zagożdżonka River. Once there were "mud" here, today a perennial garden blooms around two houses made of straw and clay. We enjoy one, the other will please you with its microclimate, rounded walls of the ground floor, which you want to stroke and the view of the manicured greenery. The roof is thatched, which smells nice after the rain.
The interior of the house, which will be at the disposal of 6-8 people (in an eight-person arrangement, two people will sleep on a fold-out sofa in the living room), has 110 m² and three double bedrooms in the attic.
Get to know the interior layout:
– an attic with three bedrooms (two with a double bed and one with two single beds), a living room with sofas, tables and a TV, a bathroom with a shower,
– ground floor, where there is a fireplace, a kitchen with a dining area and a bathroom.
On the ground floor of the building there is a garage, from which our gardeners, called Lavendziarzami, take tools necessary for field work every day - Mariusz and I run a gardening company on a daily basis. We will try to make it as little troublesome as possible for you.
The house is surrounded by a garden - the apple of our eye. It provides sensory experiences - it is full of colors, smells and guests, such as birds and colorful butterflies (we have nesting boxes and houses for insects). There is also a flower meadow and a vegetable garden. We took care of paths, patches of grass, a bench, hammocks, a swing made of old doors and numerous hidden treasures that you can admire, such as an old cast-iron sink or a baker's shovel.
The area is open on three sides, our plot is surrounded by a forest. On the one hand, we have neighbors.
In the kitchen you will find everything a hungry soul needs to prepare a meal. The biggest attraction is the fireplace in the dining area. The pleasure of communing with him extends sitting together at the table. You can also sit with meals in the garden.
Part of our garden is a vegetable garden, from where you can get crispy radishes, juicy tomatoes, fragrant raspberries and arugula for a salad in the season.
A good focal zone begs to be used and prepare sausages, bake potatoes or marshmallows for kids.
Here in Januszno, just over an hour and a half from Warsaw, we have a place for connoisseurs of tranquility, which can be experienced in beautiful natural surroundings. We were so charmed by it that we decided to share this goodness with everyone who wanted to stop for a moment.
We have a whole box of pleasures here for you:
– relaxing sleep in a natural house with a unique microclimate,
– going out every morning, even in slippers, to the vegetable garden for raspberries for oatmeal, tomatoes for scrambled eggs or radishes for cottage cheese,
– a sensually pampering garden, full of beautiful antiques, places to walk and sit,
– coffee drunk on a swing from an old door,
– a space where you can try golfing – we have two carts with clubs for you and a lot of space to play golf,
– snacking on wild strawberries and blackberries during the breaks of hammock naps,
– admiration for the colors of the flower meadow,
– bird concerts,
– picking mushrooms on our plot and in the forest right next to it,
– bicycle trips on paths where you will not meet anyone (we have bicycles on site).
We do not have typical trails in the area, but it is enough to leave the yard and move in any direction to commune with the beauty of nature.
We have bicycle paths where you will not meet anyone. The area is full of wild MTB trails and unofficial road trails where cars are rarely driven. We recommend the black bicycle trail running in the area, which will lead you from Pionki to the Brzeźniczka nature reserve, and from there to the Źródła Królewskie nature reserve. It is 7.5 km long.
Speaking of reserves, know that we are in the buffer zone of the Kozienicki Landscape Park, in which there are a total of 15 nature reserves. The park was created to preserve the natural landscape of the Kozienicki Forest. Over 200 species of birds live there (including the lesser spotted eagle, the kingfisher and a very rare specimen - the bittern). The park is also home to moose, deer, wild boars, beavers and a large population of dormice. The natural curiosities include several species of bats and mud turtles. The pine trees growing in the park are even 200-300 years old. The closest reserves to us are: Pionki, Brzeźniczka and Załamanek. The most popular is the Royal Springs Reserve.
Well, now about the king, and more precisely about Władysław Jagielle, who 23 times passed the Royal Road - the route leading from Krakow to Vilnius. He would stop in Jedlnia or Kozienice and go to the forest to hunt. Today, you can walk along the forest and nature path leading to the Royal Springs, i.e. the place where the king drank water. The route leads through the backwaters of the Zagożdżonka River and is approx. 3 km long (the time needed to cover it is 1.5-2 hours). By the way, you can visit the palace in Kozienice, which is the seat of the Regional Museum.
There is a Staw Górny swimming pool in Pionki, reopened in 2021 after renovation. You will find plenty of water attractions there: wake park, kayak and water bike rental, as well as sailboats, splash park, pleasant green areas, a restaurant with a view of the water and a graduation tower. There are also plenty of benches and wooden loungers.
What’s there for children?
Come with your children, because we have a handful of unusual attractions for them. Because isn't sleeping under a cloud on a platform built between five trees a child's dream come true? It looks like this: the kids take duvets and pillows with them and sleep until the sun wakes them up.
We have created a 30-meter sensory path in the garden. It is not only great fun, but also stimulates the senses. Sensory experiences can be experienced by walking barefoot or touching it with your hands.
There is a little house in the tree that kids love. We also have a swing from an old door and hammocks.
Our garden is magical for children. You can watch insects, butterflies and birds in it. We have five insect houses and nest boxes.
And last but probably the most important. We have a green space here that encourages exploration and various games that stimulate the imagination.
What’s there for employees?
In two bedrooms there are desks at which work is pleasant (ah! those views!) and efficiently, because what outside the window calls to finish work as soon as possible and devote yourself to the charms of the garden. We have fast and hassle-free internet. If you like to work from the couch, you will have several of these with us, laptops can also be taken to the garden.
