It's too nice here to treat this house as a place where you just come to sleep. A one-night visit doesn't seem like the best idea. You would be sorry. Just like us a dozen or so years ago, it was a pity not to choose this half-timbered house on the top of the Tarczynki Mountain for your place to live, and you must know that in search of a habitat for renovation, we circled the whole of Poland. From the Low Beskids we went east, from there to the coast and then south again. No place compares to it. None had a terrace overlooking the spectacles put on every evening as the sun went down; thirteen hectares of land, on which we saw a lush garden created by our own work; a former cowshed under whose arched vaults we would arrange a Great Room with soft armchairs for reading and long discussions.
Brodsky reportedly said that if someone obeyed the highway code, it was only because he had read the poems beforehand. And I don't know what comes first: whether this place soothes and soothes with its beauty, or whether it attracts people with a kind disposition from a distance. The fact is that nice people come to me. Believe me, in these several years, no one unpleasant has come yet. There is plenty of space here, but not for bad emotions. And with your openness, time for long breakfasts under the pergola, walks around the smallest village of the Western Sudetes and staring at meadow bells - so completely aimless, just because they are charming - will also be found.
I invite you to a restored half-timbered house, probably older than 1844 (this is the date of one of the parts of the house and it does not seem to be the oldest), located on the top of the Tarczynki mountain. It is surrounded by a large garden that I care for with passion, meadows and forests around, and the terrace offers a view of the surrounding hills. Tarczyn is located right next to Wleń, a historic village in the Bóbr Valley Landscape Park.
The house has 5 rooms that can accommodate 2 to 4 people. Each room has a private bathroom. They are all located on the first floor of the house, there is also a hall with a table and books and access to a 75-meter terrace.
On the ground floor there is a common living room (Great Room, 100 m²) with access to a smaller terrace and the garden, a kitchen for guests and my apartment.
Dom nad Polami is primarily a place for people who value peace, quiet and an intimate atmosphere. I rarely have a full complement of guests here, because the main rule is that we all feel comfortable here and have space for ourselves. Your pets are welcome as long as they are friendly towards other animals: dogs, cats and chickens live here with me.
Because all rooms are located on the first floor and there are 4 steps to the living room, Dom nad Polami is not a place suitable for people with mobility problems.
At guests' disposal there is a kitchen equipped with 2 induction hobs, a kettle, a fridge, a set of dishes and cutlery, a toaster, a casserole plate, kitchen cabinets, a sink. You can prepare breakfast or a simple dinner here.
Whether you will be bored in such a beautiful place and surroundings depends only on you. If this is what you feel like, there is a lush, one-hectare garden at your disposal with many corners where you can hide. Sew up for: reading books on a deckchair (use your home library), talking with your favorite person or just enjoying the greenery and all the colors of the local flowers and looking at the sky. For rainy days, we have a lot of board games.
The area has so much to offer that if you decide to spend your holiday exploring or being active, you will have plenty to choose from. One can mention, for example:
– Wleń Castle – the oldest brick castle in Silesia, with the Góra Zamkowa Nature Reserve.
– The Valley of Palaces and Gardens – an area with the largest concentration of palaces in Europe, stretching over approx. 100 km². There are almost 30 of them in the Jeleniogórska Valley: Renaissance mansions, Baroque palaces, castles and other buildings, often surrounded by parks. Some of them were owned by the Habsburgs, Hohenzollerns, Czartoryskis and Radziwiłłs.
– The Ducal Tower in Siedlęcin – the largest and best preserved medieval residential tower in Poland; you can see the only medieval paintings in the world that have been preserved on site, depicting the legend of Sir Lancelot of the Lake.
– Market of regional products and handicrafts in Jelenia Góra.
– Crystal Glassworks "Julia".
– The Water Dam in Pilchowice, which is the second highest (after Solina) dam in Poland.
– Ostrzyca, called the “Silesian Fujiyama”, due to its visual similarity to the Japanese volcano, which offers a 270° view. There are three singletracks in the area: Ostrzyca, Pod Ostrzycą and Zielonki.
– Japanese garden Siruwia in Przesieka – small Japan, stretching over several hectares, at an altitude of 600 m above sea level. They have a mini-museum there with interesting exhibits and you can eat green tea ice cream and drink Japanese wine.
– Cieplice Baths.
– Flea Market in Cieplice.
– Spectacular views from the Pearl of the West road on the route of the Bóbr Valley Landscape Belt.
– Walking routes around the Wrzeszczyńskie and Pilchowickie Lakes (Kapitański Mostek, Dziki Wąwóz).
– You can drive from here to beautiful Dresden in 2 hours.
Tarczyn itself is a very interesting village with preserved historical buildings. You can see how roads were laid out in the past, houses were built or gardens and fruit orchards were cultivated in hundreds. The buildings of this charming town have not been enlarged by any new building for many years.
In the area you will find plenty of walking and cycling routes that will delight you with the most beautiful mountain views. Tarczyn is also surrounded by the valleys of the Bóbr River and the Wierzbnik and Modrzewka streams. They are perfect for kayaking.
What’s there for children?
For children there is a sandbox and a rope with suspended hoops, a meadow and fresh air in any quantities. It's great to fly kites here (if you have a kite).
What’s there for employees?
We have optical fiber here, so the internet works flawlessly, and in each of the rooms there is a table with chairs where you can work. Feel free to use armchairs and sofas in the common room. And after work? It begs to go for a walk around the neighborhood or a bike trip.
