I once spent a night in a shepherd's wagon converted into a small cottage. It was in an English forest, in a clearing. And although it had no comforts, and the shared bathroom with cold water was less friendly than those at campsites, this night was unlike any other. The wooden cottage and the desire to build one in Werchrata would not leave my mind. The search for barracks wagons to renovate came to nothing. That is why I designed the cottage myself, and a local carpenter brought it to life. It started with buying an old agricultural trailer in a local workshop, fitting pine cladding, a few nights on Pinterest and deciding on green windows. That is how it was created. An escape cottage for a single person or a couple, which allows you to effectively cut yourself off from reality. Resplendent in colors drawn from flower wallpaper, created for relaxing by the forest, hammocking with a book and walking through Roztocze fields.
It is impossible not to leave the surrounding forests with a basket full of mushrooms and lips black with berries. Deer, moose and wolves have their home here, and eagles, black storks, cranes, small wagtails and bluethroats fly overhead every now and then. In summer, you can go on a kayaking trip, a bike trip, visit local vineyards, see the waterfall in Monaster and the Devil's Stones or explore the Old Town of Zamość. In winter, it is worth ice-skating, going cross-country skiing or taking part in a sleigh ride. But above all, it is worth waking up slowly here, slowly stretching in bed and, gazing at the trees, starting the day with a smile.
Działy's wagon was inspired by an English shepherd's cottage and Drzymała's wagon. Made of pine wood with green details, it stands in the heart of Roztocze in the magical town of Werchrata, near the Horyniec Zdrój health resort.
In the wagon you will find: a bed with a view of the forest, a small kitchen and a bathroom. It is surrounded by a green plot, which is located in a summer cottage estate. Our neighbors are 200m away from us, so you will be able to enjoy peace and quiet.
The cottage is ideal for a weekend trip out of town and a break from reality.
The kitchen is small but well-equipped. There is tableware, dishes, bowls, glasses, a supply of tea and coffee. For brewing it - a coffee pot. In front of the house there is a place for a bonfire with a grill, we also have a cauldron. In the season, the surrounding forests are filled to the brim with berries and mushrooms.
If you want to stock up on local delicacies, you can get our favorite sausage (and other cold cuts) from Mr. Zbigniew Wolańczyk in traditional cold cuts in Narol on ul. Zielona 8. The best Suzette pancakes are served at Cafe Sanacja in Horyniec, and coffee tastes exceptional at Cafe Vero in Zamość (ul. Hrubieszowska 9).
Welcome to Roztocze! You will wake up in a comfortable bed with a view of the forest, relax in a hammock, read books, drink coffee on pine steps or sit by a campfire on a cool evening. Around us we have the forests of the South Roztocze Landscape Park and the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, which means even more fragrant forests, plus fields to the horizon, winding rivers and silence as if sown with poppy seeds.
Another interesting solution for exploring the area are bicycle trips and hiking trails. This part of Roztocze is little known and rarely visited, so the lack of crowds and maybe even people is guaranteed. Climbing Długi Goraj, the highest peak of Roztocze, is a treat for nature lovers, especially bats. It was here that Mateusz Piesiak took a photo awarded by Wildlife Photographer of the Year.
Roztocze has its own small (sometimes pre-war) vineyards, so it is worth trying local grape varieties. And for water lovers, a trip to Horyniec Zdrój will be a treat, where you can drink sulfur water at the Sanacja café.
Beer lovers will be interested in the building of the Brewery in Zwierzyniec, founded by Stanisław Kostka Zamoyski at the beginning of the 19th century. At first, English porter-type beer was brewed in the buildings. Currently, the brewery brews Zwierzyniec beer, which can be tasted in the bar located on the premises. Zwierzyniec is also an ideal place for swimming and walking - Stawy Echo, located among the forests. Around them, there is a wooden footbridge, and a sandy beach by the shore.
Right next to the Ukrainian border, in Radruż, is the most beautiful church complex in Poland from 1583 (on the UNESCO list). There is a wooden church of St. Paraskeva there. Bełżec, Tomaszów Lubelski, Krasnobród and Górecko Kościelne should also be on your list if you like to look at wooden, historical buildings.
Even if you have never tried cross-country skiing, if you are in our area, you definitely should. Tomaszów Lubelski is the capital of cross-country skiing in the Lublin province, and cross-country skiing itself is one of the more intuitive sports disciplines, so even the most reluctant should be able to cope.
