You can paddle your kayak here. Take a course to Grzynda, where there is one of the transfers on the route along the Budkowiczanka River. Several dozen meters from the shore, on the edge of the Stobrawsko-Turawskie forests, full of hidden ponds and dune fields, there is an oblong brick building. Its previous owners produced wooden clogs trimmed with leather imported from Wrocław. I learned this from company notebooks found in the attic. Since then, the 123-year-old house has fallen into disrepair. And it would probably have met the fate of oblivion, if at some point it had not fallen into the hands of two madmen with a penchant for recreating what was.
We don't have TV, dishwasher or wifi. We have an Abyssinian pump and a centrifuge where milk can be made into cream. We also have a climate that I can proudly say: unique. It evokes the elegance of the 1920s. Elements of the rural architecture of the 19th-century Upper Silesia, such as wooden casement windows and village locks with large keys, have been preserved. Grzynda invites a family or social group of six people to close meetings in the kitchen with a tiled stove, a relaxing sleep in two bedrooms and the whole enormity of the surrounding nature to discover. All this to gain peace in the heart, in the head and in the body.
Roztomili, Grzynda jus na Woułs checko!
Grzynda Cottage is a 123-year-old brick summer house, which I affectionately call "Silesian Dachshund". After careful renovation and conservation, it delights with its interior recreating old Silesian buildings. Here there is an atmosphere, chic and elegance straight from the 1920s, but there is no TV, wifi, and dishwasher. I created this place to spend time together and relax. As a child, I dreamed of becoming a monument conservator. The desire to transfer the elements that are fading into oblivion into today's times stayed with me in adulthood. my way to a local, talented carpenter, with whom we made renovation and renovation revolutions together and gave the house a second youth.
Returning to the good old age of my summer house, I would like to point out that the whole house has wooden thresholds and old wooden windows (wooden casement windows) and doors with reconstructed old metal locks with large keys, which are professionally called country locks.
At the moment, the entire downstairs area of 80 square meters will be at your disposal. The heart of the house is the kitchen with a tiled stove. From it you can go to the bathroom with a spectacular crystal chandelier, shower, chest of drawers and two sinks.
Two rooms can accommodate 6 people together. The interiors are filled with antique furniture and accessories collected over the years.
At your disposal will be:
– Brick Mesalians – a room in a romantic style with a double bed (double bed),
– Hilda's Room - a very spacious room (18 m²) with two single beds and a desk.
An additional sleeping space is created by a fold-out sofa, it is also possible to place a cot in the selected bedroom.
In addition, at your disposal will be:
– a library with books and games in a spacious corridor,
- terrace,
– garden kitchen with a place for a grill and a smokehouse, a place for a bonfire with a cauldron and space to relax in the open air.
Grzynda is located on the quiet Budkowiczanka river, on the edge of the Stobrawsko-Turawskie forests. The area of the cottage is fenced with a rustic fence. There are 6 hectares of land around, with a forest, a river and plenty of space for unhurried walks. Because that's why Grzynda Cottage was created - to come here and relax.
The heart of the house is the kitchen. Traditionally, in Silesian houses, it is a warm and cordial meeting place. The whole family usually sat in the kitchen, because there was a stove, next to which the oldest inhabitants of the houses - starziki in Silesia, told stories to the whole family. It is no different in Grzynda. I wanted to create a meeting kitchen that invites you to gather, talk and sit a bit longer.
Tradition meets modernity here. On the one hand - an induction hob, on the other - a tiled stove with a horseshoe, fired with wood or coal. The kind you sometimes remember from your childhood and holidays at your grandma's. The Abyssinian pump was reconstructed and the centrifuge, i.e. the churn for making cream, was renovated. I hand over the house to you in its entirety, that's why you rule the kitchen. Everything you need to prepare any meal is there. Importantly, there is no dishwasher in the kitchen.
Outside, you will be able to use the garden kitchen with a place for a grill and a smokehouse, as well as a place for a bonfire with a cauldron.
When it comes to attractions, I will admit openly that you come to Grzynda Cottage primarily to take a break from everything. Additional activities are unhurried and optional. Throughout the year, forest paths, bicycle routes, a home library and the peace of Grzynda are at your disposal.
What else would I draw your attention to?
– the journey here starts from a private bridge, which you cross to get here, then you pass a meadow and horses, a forest, a neighbor's house and you are there :) – the area has a total of 6 hectares, where you can walk as much as you want;
- next to Grzynda Cottage, fenced with a rustic fence, there are several places to relax: a garden kitchen with a place for a grill and a smokehouse, a place for a bonfire with a cauldron, a space with wooden deckchairs in the square in front of the old water mill building;
– if you want to come to Grzynda Cottage with a larger group, we can organize accommodation in a neighboring, family agritourism farm called Stobrawska Grzynda u Kaniów - in total we can accommodate up to 12 people;
– the Budkowiczanka River flows nearby, there is a stop on the rafting route and a transfer place in our area;
– there is the possibility of intimate celebrations, especially in the open air and organizing a party for up to 20 people (we mean intimate family events or those with friends – we avoid the so-called integration or heavily “drinked” events, moreover, we arrange the organization of events before booking accommodation, because they carry, apart from the regular cost for accommodation, additional costs, which I will discuss with you in detail);
– for our guests we have a library at home, Nordic Walking poles, board games and a badminton set.
You must know that the area from the river to the gazebo is touristic - the infrastructure prepared there can be used by canoeists.
What is worth, although not necessary, included in the sightseeing program?
The house is located on the edge of the forests of the Stobrawski Landscape Park. The surrounding forests are full of paths, autumn mushrooms and animals. You can encounter hidden ponds and see dunes reaching up to 30 meters (the largest and most impressive is located in Kosowiec in the Jełowa sand pit, others are, among others, in Dąbrówka Łubiańska, Zagwiździe and Brynica, in total there are about 100 fields in the park dunes and even their trail was created, which can be traveled on foot or by bike). About 250 species of protected animals live in the park (including 165 species of birds, including 18 species that are globally endangered). During your trips you can meet a beaver, cormorant, badger, hoopoe, kingfisher and a whole lot of frogs. An interesting fact: in the forests there is the largest dragonfly in Europe - the hussar ruler.
The areas of the Stobrawski Landscape Park will also appeal to cyclists. Probably the most popular two-wheel route in the area leads around Turawskie Lake, 25 km away from us. The entire length is 28 km. We also have something new - Stobrawska Wstęga, which connects 4 communes (Murów, Popielów, Łubniany and Pokoje) and their most characteristic and interesting attractions. On site you will find all the information you need about the surrounding trails - we have maps and guidebooks in stock,
Coming back to the lakes - there are several of them in the area. The aforementioned Turawskie Lake is specifically a storage reservoir on Mała Panew. You can sail and fish in the lake. To the south of Turawskie Lake there are Małe and Średnie lakes, and in the forests near the villages of Osowiec and Turawa there is also Srebrne Lake (otherwise known as Zielone, Szmaragdowe or Osowiec).
The truth is that if you feel like it, you can come to us by kayak. Budkowiczanka is great for rafting, you can also raft Mała Panew in the vicinity. You can choose kayaks or canoes from a friend who runs a local canoe rental in Zagwiździe.
When it comes to monuments, you should also be satisfied. In the nearby Zagwiździe there is a historic ironworks (the building from 1802 can be visited from May to October). In Turawa you will see the palace of the von Garnier family, and in Ozimek there is the oldest iron suspension bridge in Europe (from 1827).
What’s there for children?
Children are invited for a real holiday in the countryside and sleeping in a house that can be considered grandma's. The area will give children a lot of fun: there is a river and the opportunity to observe canoeists, as well as go rafting, there are horses that you can visit, there are forests that you can walk through and there are also trees that you can climb and have picnics under. Older kids can play master chefs and try their hand at preparing pizza, which they can bake in the oven together with their parents.
We can organize workshops for kids with an interesting abbreviation STEAM, behind which lies active learning to process various materials and teaching manual skills, encouraging them to take creative initiative. Sounds interesting, huh? If you are interested in such workshops for your children, ask about them in advance, because we have to prepare for them - we will organize them when we have at least 4 volunteers (keep in mind that such workshops will be paid additionally).
In addition, those willing to adventure with a tent can spend the night in our area in a tent (just take it with you!), Because the area is large and there are many places created for this purpose.
Below I leave information on local attractions for children, including the nearest playground and botanical garden.
