All tourists staying in hotels near the market square and looking for accommodation in the artistic Kazimierz know that Krakow is beautiful. What if you could get to know the city from a different perspective? Instead of staying in one of the tenement houses, why not live in an atmospheric apartment with a view of the hills? It takes 20 minutes to get to the center and there you can enjoy everything that Krakow has to offer. Experience history, culture and art at every gate, enjoy delicious food, take your time walking along the Vistula River. And on days when you feel like going into nature instead of going to the city, get on your bike and go in the opposite direction, along the Trail of the Eagles' Nests. Along the way, admire amazing rock formations and mysterious castles. You don't even have to take two wheels with you, because we have them for you. Together with their cozy apartment, they are waiting in our 3-hectare forest garden on the edge of the Podskalański Gorge. A stone's throw from the city, but so far from it that you can completely forget yourself.
We named our habitat near Krakow Teclomir. In the former Vilnius region, on Lake Wiszniewo, there was an estate that came into the possession of my family decades ago. His name was Teclomir because it previously belonged to Tekla Mirska. It was there, among the wilderness, that the insurgents fighting against tsarism hid. The estate is long gone, but with this small gesture I decided to preserve the memory of the history of that place. And just like in the old Teclomir, here you will also have the opportunity to hide from the whole world in a slightly more tamed wilderness. And if you are curious about this story, I will be happy to tell it to you around the campfire.
The Podskalański Apartment is located in a building in our habitat on the edge of the Podskalański Gorge. Our garden is huge, 3 hectares, and adjacent to the forest. There is a view of trees and hills all around, and even the Tatra Mountains in the distance. There are two houses here: one ours and the other, which we call Khutor, with two apartments.
The small apartment you will rent has a separate entrance from the corridor in Khutor. It consists of a kitchen and a comfortable room with a bathroom and a balcony.
Our entire forest area with a fireplace and our own orchard will be at your disposal. Feel free to take advantage of all the benefits! We live next door and you can meet us here. We are open and we love getting to know our guests, but we do not impose ourselves if you prefer to spend time in your own company.
If you want to cook something, you will find nothing in our kitchen. Although small, it is equipped with a table set for two people, a capsule coffee and tea machine, a stove, an oven, a microwave, a dishwasher and a fridge. For hungry people, we have emergency snacks in the minibar, wine, juices, beer, milk and water. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishes, pots and cooking utensils.
A nearby restaurant that we can recommend is located in Chochołowy Dwór on the way to Olkusz. It is worth booking a table. But if you go to Krakow, almost unlimited culinary possibilities await you. The Krakow gastronomic scene is diverse and developing incredibly. You can choose from restaurants serving Polish, Italian, Middle Eastern and Asian cuisine, charming confectioneries and cafes. You won't come back from this trip hungry!
You will definitely not be bored here, because, like most of our guests, you will certainly treat this place as a starting point for exploring the area. And regardless of whether you choose to visit beautiful Krakow, a bike trip along mountain trails or climbing in the Ojcowski National Park, we can assure you that you will be happy to come back here to relax after a long day. Evenings and afternoons can be spent on making a bonfire and relaxing in our large garden. And in the mornings, before you set off, to eat breakfast on the balcony overlooking the forest.
Cracow
It is about 10 km to the border of Krakow, to Rynek 16 itself. In the former capital, you can organize your time in hundreds of ways, which only plays in your soul. If you like traditional and historical, you can visit Wawel and Sukiennice and the museum in their underground. You can spend a delightful day in Kazimierz full of cafes and galleries or visit museums: the great Mocak, the National Museum with always interesting exhibitions or the little-known Stained Glass Museum. Check what Krakow theaters are playing and whether there is a music or film festival going on right now. Or less popularly: take a trip to revitalizing Nowa Huta - maybe you can join an interesting architectural walk?
Locks
On the Trail of the Eagles' Nests, which starts in nearby Korzkiew, there are several castles waiting for you to discover. They stretch all the way to Częstochowa, through the entire Krakow-Częstochowa Upland. Why are there so many here? Yes, due to the terrain. They were willingly built on hard-to-reach limestone rocks (like eagle's nests). You can go on a bicycle or car trip to Ojców, Pieskowa Skała, Ogrodzieniec or Bobolice.
Bicycle trips (bike rental: PLN 50)
We cordially invite all lovers of two wheels to visit us - especially those who are not afraid of going uphill. There are great mountain trails around us, marked and unmarked. You can go on a trip along the Trail of the Eagles' Nests, go to Dolineki Krakowskie and Ojców, drive through four Jurassic gates, and even get to Żarki-Letniska in the north. The possibilities are endless. We have 2 decent mountain bikes for you to rent (PLN 50/day).
Ojców National Park
Although the smallest in Poland, Ojcowski National Park attracts fans of legends, climbing, mysterious caves and rock formations. It is here that the Castle on Pieskowa Skała is located, which was used as a location for films and series such as: Janosik or Ogniem i Mieczem. As many as 17 species of bats live here, and you will definitely meet some of them during your visit to Jakiniaciemna. However, avoid visiting on weekends, because the trail can be crowded. Amazing limestone formations and gorges are much nicer to admire in the off-season.
What’s there for children?
Our apartment is intended for a couple, because there is neither space nor special attractions for children. However, if you would like to come to us with a baby, nothing stands in the way. We have a cot for babies that we can put in your room. Just let us know in advance because we need to prepare them.
What’s there for employees?
Fast internet and a desk with an office chair - we have very comfortable working conditions here. In addition, additional equipment and unlimited coffee from the coffee machine. And even better: such a beautiful view outside the window and so many interesting things to do that a person is doubly motivated to finish work faster. Breaks on the balcony overlooking the green hills only remind you of how many nice things await after the end of duties.
