Our house in Smołdzino could sing like this: "It's me, the inconspicuous type. Nobody knows what's inside me." Because no one who passes Kościuszki Street in a town in the Słowiński National Park knows how much this charming little creature hides. That it has as much as 240 m² of space, including 2 living rooms, 5 bedrooms on the first floor and a large, open kitchen straight from British interior design magazines. That behind it there is a garden bordering a vast forest stretching all the way to Gardno. Few people know that it has its own history. Thanks to the inquisitiveness of local historians, we managed to determine that 100 years ago, Herbert Müller's colonial shop selling soap and jam was located on the ground floor. There was a cafe next door and apparently there was a beautiful glass conservatory in the garden. From 1945, there was a pharmacy on the ground floor. My mother, a pharmacist, was sent to her facility. In the 1990s, during privatization, she bought the house from the commune, which has been in our family ever since. It may also be in yours for a few days.
We had in mind: it should be family-friendly and spacious. So that during reunions, joint holidays and anniversaries there will be a place to spend time together, but with a break for everyone who needs it.
The ground floor of the house is a common area: 2 living rooms with two fold-out sofas, a large dining room with a bookcase and an open, spacious kitchen. In addition, a terrace with garden furniture, a view of the apple tree, garden and forest.
On the first floor there are bedrooms:
· 4 bedrooms with a large double bed,
· 1 apartment up the stairs with two rooms with double beds (good for a family with children, because there is space under the ceiling and there is less privacy).
12 people can sleep in our beds, and additionally, if you are interested in this option, 4 people can sleep two on fold-out sofas.
There are three bathrooms on the first floor: one in the apartment up the stairs, the other two next to them, in the corridor.
We will tell you where it is best to buy home-made eggs in Smołdzino, and if you come to us in June, there is a good chance that you will pick cherries from our garden.
Smołdzino is a tiny town in the Słowiński National Park. Life here goes on at its leisurely rhythm, and although our house is located on one of the city streets, it is difficult to find a more leisurely place to relax. There is a large garden right behind the house, and the plot borders directly on the forest stretching to Lake Gardno.
At location:
– you can sit down with a cup of coffee in the garden, where you can absorb the atmosphere of the surrounding forest,
– you will spend a cozy evening by the fireplace in the living room,
– you will have a barbecue in the garden,
– you can play billiards and darts in the basement room,
– you will have many family dinners in one of two living rooms with large tables,
– you can relax with a book on the terrace in front of the house.
In the area there are:
– Słowiński National Park, with moving dunes that are unique on a European scale: they cover 500 ha, but only part of them is available to tourists. Our tips for visiting the SPN dunes:
· the highest point, Łącka Góra, is over 40 m and from its top there are beautiful views of Łebsko, the Baltic Sea and Rowokół Hill,
· put a fishing hat on your head, pack some water and go on a trip along the seashore to the Czołpińska Dune, a 4-5 hour trip, but the views reward the effort,
· in Czołpin there is a beach with the so-called "ghost forest" - these are the remains of a flooded forest from 3,000 (!) years ago, which was exposed by the Baltic Sea a few years ago after one of the storms.
– The lighthouse in Czołpin – one of the most beautifully located in Poland – with a view of the sea, surrounding lakes and dunes. You can reach the lighthouse from the parking lot or from the sea by crossing the dunes. The trip will not only provide you with unforgettable views, but will also strengthen your body (lots of stairs!). Don't forget to take a water bottle ;)
– Lake Gardno, ideal for water sports enthusiasts: on the Retowo side there is a water bike and equipment rental and a kite/windsurfing school. A small marina is available to tourists from the direction of Gardna Wielka. PS You don't need a patent. After arranging the trip in advance, you will be taken by an experienced skipper.
What’s there for children?
Feel free to come to us with your children. There are two boxes of toys at home, there are books in the library, and we have prepared a cot for babies. Our plot is fenced, so you can safely play in the old orchard. In the area you can watch horses, run in the meadows and have fun on the beach.
What’s there for employees?
Our house will be an excellent choice for workation. We have fiber-optic internet that does not disappoint and plenty of space to work. The situation may be slightly worse with the GSM network, but if instead of a telephone you only need instant messengers, staying in touch will not be a problem. Brainstorming sessions can take place in one of our two lounges with large tables. And thanks to 5 separate bedrooms on the first floor, you will be comfortable.
If someone needs privacy away from the rest of the household, we have prepared a separate work station in the basement.
