I could tell you two things about Sokołowsko. Outline the history of the German Görbersdorf sanatorium, today called "Polish Davos". Mention great names associated with this place, such as Nobel Prize winner Gerhart Hauptmann or Olga Tokarczuk. But I would rather introduce you to Mr. Zygmunt, whose shop you go to for gossip and fresh rolls. There is also Tomek, who guides tours around Grunwald, and there are girls from the Dzika Owca factory. They make soy candles on the ground floor of an old X-ray room. Everyone here also knows that you go to the Smaków Cafe for meringue cake, and to the Zdrowie Kinokawiarnia for books and movies, where Krzysztof Kieślowski used to hang out as a child.
I came here many years ago, for a week that turned into a month. When I left, I already had Alfreda - a two-room apartment of a low standard, but with wonderful high ceilings. I restored it with an architect friend and now, when I live alone 1,200 km from Sokołowsko, I am looking for friendly company for it. Due to only one bedroom, this place will be most comfortable for couples. You can come here for history, for art, for the mountains, for the people. Because it's worth experiencing Sokołowsko - at least once in your life.
Come in, make yourself comfortable. This is Alfreda - an apartment for relaxation.
In a two-room apartment in atmospheric Sokołowsko. The apartment is located in a post-German building that used to be a hotel for spa patients.
After opening the door you will see a hall with a hanger and a large mirror. Straight ahead is the entrance to the toilet, and next to it there is a passage to the kitchen with dining room and living room. Moving on, you will enter a bedroom with a double bed and a small work desk.
Alfreda has a decent kitchenette, where two people will not have to fight for space on the counter with their elbows. There is an oven, dishwasher, induction hob, fridge - everything at home. There is a shop at "Cukra" in Sokołowsko. Please note that it is not possible to pay by card! This minor drawback, however, is replaced by the absolutely authentic atmosphere of a real, small-town shop and the charm of the owner, Mr. Zygmunt.
In the neighborhood you will find two cafes, which in seasons other than summer open rather only on weekends. Kawiarenka Smaków is famous for its Italian cuisine and meringue cakes, and Kinokawiarnia Zdrowie is worth visiting for coffee, books about Sokołowsko and film screenings. I also recommend the restaurant "Forest Source", run by the owners of the already mentioned Kawiarenka Smaków.
In Krzeszów on Św. Anny 9, there is a fantastic shop with local healthy food. You can buy there strawberry compote in a jar, outstanding cheeses, craft beers.
Sokołowsko is a town that combines history, nature and art. Festivals take place here (the literary Mountains of Literature at the beginning of July, the film Hommage a Kieślowski at the end of August), and the Wild Sheep manufactory invites you to workshops on natural cosmetics and herbs. In the Palm House, you can meet intimate vintage fairs, and watch a movie in the Cinema Cafe. Tomek organizes historical tours every Saturday and Sunday - here you will find details: https://www.facebook.com/sokolowsko.org
The Sudety Mountains stretch around Sokołowska and the most frequently chosen route is the one leading to the Andrzejówka shelter. To the more ambitious, I suggest the idea of getting the so-called Crowns of Sokołowska (these are the peaks: Włostowa, Stożek Wielki, Bukowiec, Suchawa, Katarzyna, Waligóra, Kostrzyn, Wzgórze Niepodległości, Łysa Góra, Garbatka). You can also go to the mountains by bike, especially since we have rentals on site.
My friend also invites her for massages. Get in touch: https://dotykskuteczny.pl/
And if you want to explore the area, it is worth going to the castle in Książ, walking around the rock city in the Czech Republic, seeing the view from Ruprechtický špičák. Apart from the hot Sundays, a very charming place is the Kamyki quarry in Głuszyca Górna. Although I'm not sure if you'll want to move from this Sokołowska at all :)
