My mother dreamed of this house. Nothing unusual. Krakuska, after 8 years of living in the Netherlands, flat as a pancake, wanted to be closer to the mountains. She chose the Beskid Makowski, Podbabiogórze and the then completely non-touristic hamlet of Polany Juszczyńskie. Now, moreover, tourists here as well. This house was designed over 30 years ago by my grandmother, a painter with a passion for architecture, in the style of a Polish manor house. Inside, you can still admire Grandma's oil paintings and furniture designed by her. We have been coming here as a family for years, and now I have refreshed the interiors, filled them with furniture and family heirlooms that I restored, and I want to give it to you. I hope you will also be enchanted by our house on the pass.
Location-wise, it is a kind of foothills, an extension of the backyard for Cracovians, usually avoided by tourists rushing (or standing in traffic jams) to Zakopane. Here you can meet absolutely no one on the trail, climb Brodelowa Góra, eat dumplings with a view of the Tatra Mountains in the shelter on Hala Krupowa, listen to the sound of the Waterfall on Mosorny Potok and experience the magical sunrise on Babia Góra. It's uphill everywhere here, but the views compensate for the shortness of breath. Come in and rest a lot. In motion or still.
The house is exclusively for you - for 8 people and pets. Built in the style of a Polish manor, so perfectly symmetrical, divided into two bedroom wings and a living area closed with sliding doors.
The house consists of:
- vestibule,
- two double bedrooms in the right wing,
- two double bedrooms in the left wing,
- bathrooms with shower and toilet,
- a separate toilet,
- a living area with a large living room connected to the dining room (fireplace, sofas, armchairs, TV, table with chairs), above the living room there is a mezzanine with a reading corner,
- a kitchen equipped with everything you need and even more (there is no dishwasher).
The living room opens onto a large - 40m2 - terrace.
The garden is not large (600m2), but due to the lack of a fence at the back of the plot it gives the impression of space. The plot is fenced from the road and from the neighbors side, and opens onto a meadow.
If you are adventure seekers like me, you will find a lot of great trails in the forest and cross-country in Beskid Makowski. Moving from the house to the south, you can follow the road through the forest (high shoes are needed), through the stream and steeply up to the top of Mount Naroże - from here you have a 360° view of the area. From Naroz you can take the red trail that connects the most important peaks of the Beskids. You can walk to the Shelter at Hala Krupowa (for dumplings and a view of the Tatra Mountains), then to Cupel (which is a great vantage point), Police (where a plane crash took place years ago) and Sokolica, up to Babia Góra.
There are few marked trails in the immediate vicinity, so you can set your own routes, walk through forests and meadows. It is intimate, quiet and deserted. When you take the yellow trail (about 300 meters from the house) you will reach Jawor, to the north there is also Sucha Góra. You don't have to do long walks to reach a peak, but they will be steep walks.
By the yellow trail, in the village, there is Stable Borys - where you can try your hand at riding or go horseback riding.
There are also plenty of streams for wading and rivers (Skawica and Skawa) in the area. Their beds are rocky, the current is rushing, and the banks are perfect for spreading a blanket and listening to the white noise. You can visit the Waterfall on Mosorny Potok (in Zawoja) nearby, which is reached by a short trail smelling of wild garlic. There is also an interesting Black Daniel Park in Zawoja.
From civilization next door:
- Maków Podhalański (Beskid Culture Week there from 29.07),
- Sucha Beskidzka with the famous Inn Rome and the Renaissance castle (Little Wawel).
- Zawoja with the Museum of the Babiogórski National Park, Skansen them. Józef Żak in Zawoja Markowa.
For cycling enthusiasts there are single tracks - Babia Góra Trails and PKL Bike Parks Mosolny Groń.
What’s there for employees?
The internet works flawlessly, sometimes you have to walk around the garden a bit to find mobile coverage. There is a desk in each bedroom and a large table with chairs in the living room.
