First there was the house, 90 years later we came. And only recently have we found out that we are ruiners. Well, it cannot be denied, because the amount of dust, rubble and boards that we moved are incalculable. But it was worth it. We are grateful to each other every day for this brave decision. Not only did we save the old house from decay, but we also created a cozy Tuscan-English and completely Lower Silesian cottage. For us and for our guests. And although since 2021 we have been trying to restore our old house to its proper splendor, we still have a lot of falling roof tiles on the barn and scratched furniture. We simply like everything that has soul and has outlived its life. Our beds are old and wooden, we serve breakfast on hand-picked porcelain and ceramics, we have polished the floors and discovered their natural beauty. We save what we can, and we choose new ones so that they don't conflict with what we already have.
We invite you to a guest house overlooking the ruins of Gryf Castle. We will serve you a delicious breakfast accompanied by vinyl music, we will tell you what to see in our micro-region and where to go in search of antiques. Make yourself comfortable in our house, hide in the garden, hide in the barn and let the world forget about you. Welcome to the little Bush Great.
In an old Lower Silesian guest house, in the Izera Foothills, which has as much charm as it has for years. It is not even and from the ruler, but that is its charm. So if you like what is old and cozy, we have a suspicion that you will enjoy it here. You will share the house with us (we live on the ground floor) and other guests (there are two guest rooms on the first floor).
- Sady room is a bright double apartment with a bathroom (shower) and a small kitchenette. There is also a round table with two chairs. It overlooks our small orchard and an old lime tree.
- The field room is also a double suite, slightly larger than the orchard room. It has a private bathroom (shower) and a small kitchenette. The room is located on the first floor of our house, and the windows overlook the nearby fields.
The beds are old, wooden (2 meters long) with a large double mattress.
The house is built of brick and under one roof there is a living area and a large barn with recreational space for our guests; in the summer we also serve breakfast there. In the barn there is a sofa, armchairs, a children's corner, games, books, a gramophone. The barn is a place to rest in the summer.
In the garden there are hammocks, deckchairs, rest.
The apartments have their own kitchenettes, and there is no shortage of good restaurants in the area. We, if you are willing, will prepare breakfast for you. Such from the heart and using local ingredients (of course, as far as possible).
We serve something sweet (French toast, waffles or pancakes) and savory (e.g. baked feta, scrambled eggs, quiche), always something hot. There are cheeses, meats, vegetables, drinks. We prepare classic, vegetarian and vegan breakfasts. In the summer we serve them for you in the barn. You can also order breakfast in the room.
The attractions do not give you a headache, but your legs may hurt. Especially here. There is the Jizera Foothills and the Kaczawskie Mountains, from the garden you can see Stóg Izerski (you can, for example, take the gondola lift and then go down or follow further trails), follow the blue trail from Lubomierz towards Lwówek Śląski (north) and walk along the slopes of Kamienny and Kołodziej, from where there is a beautiful view of the valley, Lubomierz, Milęcice and the panorama of the Jizera Mountains and the Karkonosze Mountains. You can wade through balks and narrow paths to reach the ruins of the farm in Nagórze. And during the Open Gardens of the Jizera Foothills and the Day of Open Half-timbered Houses, you can look behind fences and doors in places that are usually inaccessible.
The next walking direction (within sight) is the ruins of Gryf Castle and the baroque chapel of St. Leopold. Just go up about 100 m to the nearby fields to see the entire panorama of the Jizera Mountains and the Karkonosze Mountains, including Śnieżka!
Besides, we are close to everything. It's only a 20-minute drive to the Czech Republic and 40 minutes to the beautiful German town of Görlitz. The Jizera Mountains trails, Czocha Castle, the Świeradów Zdrój health resort, Jelenia Góra (on singletracks) and Cieplice, and the picturesque Lubomierz - all these attractions are located within a 10-30 minute drive from our house. It is worth booking more time in Lubomierz. There is a Kargul and Pawlak museum, a market square with arcades, a town hall, a historic bridge, baroque sculptures and a church towering over the town. In August, the National Comedy Film Festival takes place here, and in October, Lubomierska Jesień, promoting local producers and artists. Be sure to see it up close and look inside the Benedictine monastery and take a walk in the monastery park. In winter, there is cross-country skiing in Jakuszyce, skiing, e.g. on Stog Izerski, and sledding right in front of the house. We will be happy to help you choose a route to explore the area, because this is our thing!
Another favorite activity is jumble hunting. If you also love what is old and has soul, we will be happy to share our addresses with you.
- In Cieplice (a district of Jelenia Góra) there is our favorite antique shop "Skarbiec pod arcami".
- There is also a market in Cieplice every Sunday and there are antiques.
- There is an antiques shop in Pasiecznik.
- You can also buy antiques at local markets - on Thursday in Lubomierz, on Saturday in Mirsk.
What’s there for children?
Our children follow their parents, so we take them to places that interest us. We highly recommend the Living Museum of Ceramics in Bolesławiec - in the summer it is worth calling and booking a place for a ceramics painting workshop. We also highly recommend the educational zoo in Görlitz. In Pławna you can visit Magic Pławna: the world of Silesian legends.
It is worth heading for the sledge in the vicinity of the chapel in the village. In our barn there is a children's corner with toys.
