The classic country cottage dates back to 1933. Then it stood at an altitude of 800 meters above sea level, on the southern slopes of the highest hill of the Beskid Wyspowy. It was empty when we found it, and a fox lived in a stone cellar. The cottage would probably meet the fate of many Lesser Poland households. It would be turned into firewood and be gone forever. After an initial review, we announced a modernization action. Lisica had to move to the barn, and we, together with local experts on the subject, got to work. We used boards from the façade, beams from the old barn and stones from the underpinnings (the dilapidated barn had to be dismantled in the end). We put a panoramic window in the living room, turned the cowshed into a bedroom, and planted a part of the meadow from the seeds shaken from the hay in the attic. We added a gazebo and a terrace. Today, from it, from the tub with hot water and in front of the new window, you will have a view like from the observation tower on Mogielica. Well, maybe a bit narrower, but undisturbed - to the Slovak Tatras, Gorce, Pieniny and the hills of Beskid Sądecki.
When the characteristic two-syllable "krrek-krrek" reaches your ears, it is a sign that you have heard a corncrake. Rather, do not count on more, because they are very timid birds and lead a secretive lifestyle. You'll sooner see a black cricket, whose hosts give concerts here constantly. Beneath our house there is a parish - that's what the locals call the valley, where deer meet in autumn. With the wind comes summer respite, the opportunity to fly kites and clean air in winter. In winter, you can jump from a hot tub straight into the snowdrifts and go sledding directly from the terrace. The nearest trails start 90 meters from the gate, and their network in Mogielica is over 25 km. There is something nice for everyone and at every season. Come see the world from above.
We are waving to you from 800 m above sea level, from the southern slopes of Mogielica in the Beskid Wyspowy. We have a modernized cottage from 1933 for you, in the living room of which we have installed a panoramic window so that you can enjoy an unrestricted view of the Slovak Tatra Mountains, Gorce Mountains and Pieniny Mountains.
The house has a classic layout of a country cottage. Consists of:
– hall,
– rooms with kitchen,
– a bedroom with a double bed in the place of the former barn,
- bathrooms,
– an open attic space with two double beds and a children's corner with a cot. Larch stairs lead to this space.
The house at height will provide comfortable shelter for 7 people - a family, two couples or a group of friends. We added a spacious terrace and a gazebo with wooden furniture. The house is year-round, heated by electricity, but those interested can light an antique wood stove (it probably has a hundred on its neck, so training is necessary).
We recreated the original facade, equipped the interior with partially antique furniture and equipment (brass door handles, antique goat), made wooden floors and finished with larch, spruce and sandstone.
At your disposal there will also be: a tub with a jacuzzi, a hammock among the trees, ski and bicycle rooms and a large parking lot. A small charcoal grill is also available free of charge. We also have a larger gas grill (paid extra).
There is also an old plum orchard and an old ash tree on the plot of over one hectare. Our neighbor's house is located close to the house and he lives there seasonally.
In winter, winter tires and sometimes even chains are necessary :-). It may happen that the last 100 m of the road will be cleared of snow with a delay.
We have a modern kitchen for you with elements made of old boards. We equipped it with: ceramic hob, oven, microwave with grill option, kettle, fridge, dishwasher and a capsule coffee machine (a supply of capsules is also waiting). You will not run out of dishes, knives, cups or glasses. You will be able to indulge in the pleasures of cooking without interruption. We have water from a deep well, it is very tasty, drink it straight from the tap. Outside, there is a grill and a gazebo with a large table waiting for you.
9 km from the house there is the Dworska Restaurant in Kamienica. You can go there for lunch and horse riding, because there is a stable nearby, and you can also order food with delivery. This option (but usually for a group of more than 4 people) is also available in several places in Limanowa (certainly in the Matras inn). In the high season (from the beginning of summer holidays, from Friday to Sunday, and also on long weekends) at the exit to the ski slopes in Kamienica (in the car park at the beginning of the ski slopes in Mogielica), housewives from the village housewives' circle display their specialties (lunch desserts).
You will have 100 meters to the forest, and in it you can count on an abundance of mushrooms (especially red mushrooms and porcini mushrooms). If you want eggs from happy hens, we can provide them for you.
If boredom, then with a view of the mountains. And from above, because here you will be at an altitude of 800 m above sea level.
You will enjoy the view of the Slovak Tatra Mountains (with Gerlach, Lodowy Szczyt and Łomnický Szczyt), Gorce Mountains (with Turbacz and Gorce) and the Pieniny Mountains:
– sitting in front of the panoramic window in the living room,
– resting on a deckchair on the terrace,
– relaxing in a hot tub with a jacuzzi, which gives the most pleasure in the evenings.
The view here is unlimited and unobstructed, because there are maybe 4 buildings on the horizon. Almost the same view, only a bit wider, from the observation tower on Mogielica, on whose southern slopes our cottage is located.
In addition to the view and places to admire it, we also have other pleasures for you:
– a gazebo with wooden furniture for common feasting and board game games,
– frequent winds that allow you to fly kites – one is waiting for you at home,
– a hammock hanging among the trees,
– 1.5 hectares of land and a meadow that we allow to be lush and blooming,
– a sky unpolluted by light, which allows you to remember how many stars there are in the sky,
– in winter, sleds can be used to slide directly from the terrace.
The trails begin about 90 m behind the fence. The asphalt green trail leads to Mogielica - the highest peak of the Beskid Wyspowy, there are also ski and bicycle trails (800 meters from the house there is a bicycle rental). Check the exact route of the routes around Mogielica, which are over 25 km long, at routemogielica.pl. One of the nearby bicycle routes is ideal for families with children. The entire loop is 21 km long. In winter, it is a cross-country skiing track prepared by a snowcat. In winter, the snowdrifts are waist-deep and you can jump into them straight from a hot tub. There are also educational and historical paths around Mogielica (they partially overlap with the PTTK trail and the running and cycling route).
We recommend trips to the nearby forest to pick mushrooms, walks in search of alpine orchids that can be seen here, as well as all kinds of trips during which you will hear and maybe even meet representatives of many species of birds and animals. The forested areas of Mogielica are a refuge for many species. Badgers, otters, dormice, wild boars, lynxes, periodically wolves, capercaillies, redpolls, as well as two species of woodpeckers: white-backed and three-toed woodpeckers live here. Nature is stunning here and is at your fingertips. Deer come to the meadow next to the house, and the autumn rut takes place 250 meters away. In the forest near the house you can look for sheds, i.e. lost antlers.
It is worth going to the Mineral Water Pump Room in Szczawa (10 km in a straight line from the cottage). You can walk along historical and educational paths in the footsteps of partisans and the Cichociemni, who trained partisans in the "Wilk" camp, located on the slopes of Mogielica. In nearby Słopnice, historical reenactments of Allied air drops for Home Army soldiers take place on the Dzielec hill in July. If you would like to see redyk (spring or autumn), go to Szczawnica, Obidza or Ochotnica.
For lovers of history, picturesque churches, old Polish manors, open-air museums and villas dating back to ancient times, we recommend the Wooden Architecture Trail (a map of all objects can be found at: www.drewniana.malopolska.pl).
What’s there for children?
Children can have fun on the 1.5-hectare meadow. Collect flowers in the meadow, chase butterflies, go hunting for animals and mushroom picking. The house has a corner with toys, games and books, as well as a baby cot. Take binoculars and a bird atlas with you, they will certainly provide both children and you with additional experiences.
In winter, playing in the snow, building a snowman or building igloos in snowdrifts. Sledding hill directly from the terrace :-)
It is possible to rent a Deuter baby carrier to take babies over 6 months on the trails, as well as a balance bike (just let us know in advance!).
What’s there for employees?
What makes it easier to work here is silence, which allows you to concentrate and allows you to perform your professional duties much more efficiently. You can work at a large table, from a bed or a terrace, because wifi catches in all places in the house.
