My parents wanted a summer house in Calais and they almost got it. Our Calle is located in Kalu, at calle Kal 12a, in Zatoka Kal. Not to be confused with California! It is as it should be and even better. Our house is located right on the shore of the lake and we go to the pier with coffee in slippers. When Piotr, one of our guests-coffee drinkers, arrives, we go with specialty coffee with a fancy foam heart. Avoiding the duck bombs on the bridge then serves as the best practice of mindfulness. The weather is always nice here, you just need to dress appropriately for it. But most importantly: the coolest people come to us. Some stay with us so long that we start to treat them as neighbors from above. Days are filled with sunbathing, SUP swimming, treasure hunting. It is usually run by the crew of a pirate ship hidden just behind our barn. If the above-mentioned ingredients have just given you an image of a holiday in Bullerbyn, we can only say that the publishers of the book, the action of which takes place in this place, had the same association. We invite you to a guest house for big and small at Lake Święcajty. On the plot there is a house, behind it a small playground, a barn and our treasure: a large garden. In this part there is also a second, pirate playground for children.
At the bottom of the house we are and we live with our guests like Paweł and Gaweł. The whole floor is for you. The space is occupied by 4 rooms and a common area, where there are dining tables, a sofa with a TV, a play area for children and, above all, a kitchenette where you can prepare something to eat. Each room has a slightly different character, although they are all consistent with each other. They all have bathrooms and lake views.
We are separated from the lake by a quiet street that you have to cross to get to the pier. Our plot is fenced, but there is no gate yet, in a word - you can get out of it. We ask dog owners to take care of their safety.
In the photos above you can see meals from our friendly Karczma restaurant, with which we cooperate. The inn is located in Węgorzewo (3.5 km from us) and you will get a 10% discount for the entire stay there. The good news is that meals from the Tavern can also come to you with delivery.
We are planning to serve breakfast, but this idea is still in the works. On site, however, there is a kitchenette available for you on the first floor: with a hob, sink, microwave and, in addition, each room has its own fridge - these are in the kitchen so that they do not buzz around the rooms. The cabinets contain all the necessary accessories that will make you feel comfortable here. You will also find a grill, a place for a bonfire, and sometimes if someone is lucky, they will catch something in the bushes. You can tear.
You can get bored with us, but you don't have to. Certainly the biggest attraction is the water that you have at your fingertips. The lake is shallow for many meters ahead, so you won't jump on your head for sure, but parents of small children will be happy. There are algae, fish, sometimes crayfish appear, but this is rare. Ducks, grebes and even a gray heron live on and around the lake - it can be noisy here in the mornings.
We are in a bay for water sportsmen - so there are fishing boats here, several times in the season someone goes skiing and scooters. Mainly sails reign here - at our height there is an isthmus between Święcajty and Mamry - there is a lot to look at. We have a SUP (one for now). Swimming alone is inspiring and not everyone can do it, because you can meet boredom alone. ;) But in our opinion, it is worth meeting her.
In the village you can rent kayaks, pedal boats or boats with a motor - even cool ones. In the garden you will find a place to take a break from the water. You can hover on hanging chairs or on a buoy. First of all, it's a place for children, because there is a pirate playground. The garden is wild and moles reign there. There is also a barn - still unfinished in 100%, but we have a ping pong table there, and sometimes when our friendly guests come, it turns into a music studio.
We like to read. Somehow it turns out that we most willingly reach for detective stories, and then run in panic, checking if all the doors in the house are closed, but we don't give up. On the first floor you will find a library, which you can use and, with Mroz or Krajewski under your arm, go to the bridge and read.
What’s there for children?
The children are doing very well with us. There is a small playground with a sandbox next to the house. You can sip your coffee while watching the kids play. We try to always have chalk at hand - because there is something to draw on. Further, in the garden, children will find a playground with a pirate ship, swings suspended from a tree, there is also a place to run and play badminton. The garden is wild, so kids can play Indians, cowboys or princess and prince. Our boys like to participate in the fun and suggest what, where and how.
Most of all, however, there is a lake here. There is no lifeguard on it, because it is not a city beach, but one by the house. In the village a little further you will find a village square with a playground for children, a basketball hoop and a place to bathe. Even before the village, there is a swimming pool, which we used to go to as a child - there is a sand for making castles and a nice bottom. We have more algae, but there is also sand by the shore. The important information is that our lake is shallow for a long time - it works 100 percent with small children.
What’s there for employees?
We have WiFi, which also works. :) You can work off your daily wage at an accelerated pace, and then go soak your feet in the lake. In Krzysia's Captain's Office you will find a desk and it is our only room with a desk. The Halinka Apartment has a comfortable sofa. In addition, on the first floor, which is a common space, you can easily find a place to work - there are 2 tables and a sofa.
