When the band performing at the Zew Wakes festival visited us, all the instruments started moving. As the organizers themselves write, it plays "wild music", and in our living room you can hear mostly classical and jazz. But as we know, music soothes people. They are even more soothed by the forest surroundings of our house in Czarna, one of the few in this area. Bearing in mind the history of the local lands, our design was modeled on a typical Boyko cottage. And just as they were traditionally divided into two parts, we also divided the house: we live in half of it, and we invite our guests to the cozy rooms of the other half. We invite people from the age of 12, because in the peace and quiet the sounds of the piano and cello in the living room sound more beautiful. We will tell you where to go on the trails and which cultural events are worth your attention, and know that there are a lot of them taking place in the Bieszczady Mountains. Perhaps you will be able to go to a concert in a historic church, but if not, do not miss a trip along the trail of these extraordinary wooden buildings. And before you go, remember that a tasty home-made breakfast will be waiting for you in the dining room.
Borniówka is like a boyko cottage: one-story and divided into two parts. We, the hosts, live on the right side, and on the left there are cozy rooms for you. They will accommodate 2 to 3 people and each of them has their own bathroom.
The common area where you can relax is our terrace lounge with a sofa, armchairs and instruments. If you want to use them, go ahead. Perhaps there will be an opportunity for a chat then. We are happy to get to know our guests and always offer advice on what to do and where to eat, but we also leave space for those who need it. There is also a dining room at your disposal, which is perfect for playing board games in the evenings.
Our log house is not covered only from the outside, as is the case with similar houses, and it also has a wooden structure. Our wood wool insulated cottage is natural and smells beautifully of fir, which makes it cozy and you can truly relax in it.
NOTE: we have our own water intake, but due to the specific nature of the local waters, which smell strongly of hydrogen sulphide, we only use tap water for washing. Don't drink it, we have bottled water for you.
In Borniówka, we work like this: we feed you tasty, home-made breakfasts included in the accommodation price, and as for other meals, we encourage you to eat them in the area. When returning from a trip, you can stop by Ustrzyki Dolne, where you will be served tasty food, e.g. in Czatownia.
In the morning, on the table you will find (subject to availability) rennet cheese from local housewives, great sourdough bread from a family bakery, and if you eat cold meats - products from a local butcher's shop.
We do not have a kitchen for guests, but if you would like to prepare, say, sausages for a barbecue, we will provide you with the opportunity to use ours.
NOTE: we do not drink tap water in Borniówka. Mineral water will be waiting for you.
If we were to say who our place is for, we would say that it is for those who want peace and quiet and do not mind the fact that it takes 40 minutes to get to the High Bieszczady Mountains. In the area you can take a walk, ride a bike, or go on a trip along the trail of wooden Orthodox churches. You can also lie down on a deckchair on our terrace, read, look at the sky, or meditate.
The wooden Orthodox churches in our area are extraordinary monuments on a Polish and European scale, part of the Wooden Architecture Trail. Take the opportunity to get to know them - the furthest ones will be 12 km away. Our favorite is the Orthodox church in Bystre from the beginning of the 19th century. 19th century, restored thanks to the efforts of enthusiasts.
In the immediate vicinity there are mainly simple trails and educational paths. We recommend, for example, the route along the Żukowo ridge to Bystre along the Lipetsk Region. You can go on a longer trip all the way to Uherce Mineralne through Holica, where the observation tower offers a beautiful panorama of the surrounding area. If you need tips on where to go on the trail, ask us and we will share the tips.
We also invite cyclists, but especially those who are orientated in the field. There are forest roads around, available for two-wheeler enthusiasts, but there are no marked trails.
As culture lovers, we will also tell you that there is a lot going on in the Bieszczady Mountains. On the 1st Saturday of August, the Bieszczady Arts Festival takes place, and right after it, on Sunday, there is a Boyko fair. At stands with local products you can buy handicrafts and taste local cuisine: knish or fuczka. At Bieszczadzka Sobania, organized in cooperation with the Rural Women's Club, you can eat equally tasty food and listen to local music. And if you feel like listening to stronger sounds, go to the ZEW waking up festival in Ustrzyki Dolne.
What’s there for children?
Our home is a haven for adults, where we invite you for a deep reset.
What’s there for employees?
Our internet works well enough to allow us to work remotely (we do it ourselves), but the GSM signal works very poorly. If you want to call, you will probably have to walk to the hill nearby.
