This is a story about what will happen when you enter the phrase: house on a hill in the search engine. And you will start looking at photos. A short while later, you will pack a bus with your several-month-old baby and go from Copenhagen to Poznań (not knowing yet that it will be permanent). There you will come to a place born from the fantasy of a certain professor who, in the 1970s, fulfilled his dream of a Moorish-style house, located on a slope in Kiekrz, on Lake Kierskie. At that time, it was the first building in the "Kierze Manhattan" with a garden-patio inside, collecting rainwater that went to the fountain. The building has a terrace with a wall of Andalusian ceramics, extending also through the entire living room, and arcade arches, providing a panoramic view of the lake (it is covered with greenery in the summer). After living in this space for a year, we got to know it inside out. We destroyed many elements and created them anew. In the 2020s, the heart of the house is a light-filled patio with a glass and opening pyramid, located above the feasting table. We took care of two comfortable bedrooms on the lowest level, a spacious living room with an open fireplace and a floor where you can do yoga, and several spaces to relax in the garden. We are giving you a house full of aesthetic experiences that can become a setting for relaxation, intimate meetings, workshops, remote work and any other opportunity you would like to dream of here.
A modernist villa from the 1970s, built in the Moorish style, stands on a slope in Kiekrz, on the north-western edge of Poznań. It is located in the first line of buildings on Lake Kierskie. It is filled with accents from the Polish People's Republic and straight from Andalusia.
The 150-meter-long interior has three levels and includes:
– living room and terrace space with a fireplace and a toilet at the main entrance level,
– a few steps lower – a kitchen connected to the dining room,
– on the lowest level there are two bedrooms and a bathroom with a bathtub (there is also a side entrance on this level).
One bedroom has a fold-out double bed, a TV and a work desk. The second one consists of two rooms separated by a curtain (for families with children) - in one part there is a large double bed and a fold-out mattress, in the other a single bed for an adult or a child.
The house can comfortably accommodate 5-6 adults (or a group of 7 with children).
The hacienda is located in the city. We have neighbors and the plot is not huge. However, it is green and there are several relaxation zones.
When it was built for a professor from Poznań, inside it had a garden and a fountain fed by rainwater. When we met her, she had a swimming pool inside and mushrooms on the walls. Carefully renovated, it awaits you with a dining room on the patio with a retractable roof and interiors providing an aesthetic experience.
The dining room space located on the patio is the heart of the house, created for feasting, long breakfasts and intimate receptions. The glass pyramid brings in a lot of daylight, and the plants are a substitute for a garden. You can also enjoy the delicacies on the terrace. In one part there is a lounge area with a sofa, in the other there is a large table. From the terrace, through the arcaded arches in autumn, winter and spring, you can admire a panoramic view of Lake Kierskie. In summer, admire the greenery. You can use the electric grill on this terrace.
In a house designed with imagination (which, although located in the city, is in its green, summer part), you can relax in many ways. You can:
– organize a yoga session in the living room – in the warm months, after opening the door to the terrace, the space becomes really large,
– enjoy delicious food prepared yourself or ordered from local restaurants (we recommend tasty sushi and good pizza) in the dining room on the patio or on the terrace,
– sit on the terrace and have a barbecue,
– light a fire in the living room and warm yourself in the warmth of the fire (the fireplace has an open combustion chamber),
– use relaxation areas in the garden – you can crouch under a wooden shelter, drink coffee at a table, swing on a bench or go down the stairs to the area with a hanging armchair,
– whisper a word to us and we will organize a massage for you.
In summer, the view of the water is obscured by greenery, but in early spring, autumn and winter, the terrace offers a view of Lake Kierskie. Take a walk to the Park Beach through the Ecological Park (the distance is approximately one and a half kilometers). There is a path around the lake (approx. 3 km). The surrounding areas are great for walking, cycling and even training for a triathlon. You can light a bonfire at the lake in a designated place and rent water equipment. Parkowa Beach is connected with other beaches on the lake by a bicycle and walking path. There is a sailing sports club and a windsurfing school near the house.
Poznań does not need to be introduced to anyone, if you want to get to know the city better, you can:
– see Pourville Beach by Claude Monet at the National Museum,
– run into the third largest market in Poland with the goats Pyrek and Tyrek,
– take a walk around the palm house in Wilson Park,
– go to the Enigma Cipher Center,
– during the rain, listen to a symphony played by a wall installation composed of pipes and gutters, mounted on the wall of a tenement house at ul. Ostrówek 17,
– visit the Poznań Gate and take an audio tour of Ostrów Tumski,
– go to the ZAMEK Cultural Center – the residence of the last German emperor, Wilhelm II – you can visit it, admire the architecture of the building and check the calendar of cultural events.
One of the bedrooms is dedicated to children. In addition to the bed, over which there is a canopy, there is a corner with toys (with a wooden kitchen in the main role) and shelves made of wood and strings with books and board games.
On the way to the lake, there is an educational path in the Ecological Park that can interest children, and there is a playground by the beach.
As for the stairs in the house - they are not adapted for children, you will have to keep an eye on them.
Hacienda Kiekrz is recommended for work holidays. There is a desk in one of the bedrooms, but you can also work at the table in the dining room, on the sofa in the living room or on the terrace. The Internet works flawlessly!
