19 HJ. 25. You will see such an inscription on the brick walls of the stable adjacent to our house. This means that it was built in 1925 by someone with the initials HJ, and we are getting closer to discovering his identity. Everything indicates that his name was Hermann Janzen. They say he was a Mennonite and was sent to Siberia. The fact that we don't know anything for sure stimulates our imagination even more. The plains, interspersed with canals and covered with willows, are full of the stories of the descendants of settlers who came here in the 17th century from the Netherlands and Frisia. We are full of curiosity about the charming towns and villages here, delighting with their architecture and culture. We breathed new life into the canalside settlement with an old orchard, but in such a way that no one would forget that we are located in the Żuławy countryside. It is idyllic, rustic and sympathetic to the past fate of this place. We invite groups who dream of a break from the city to two apartments in the house and one in the stable. We invite you as a family, friends or as a group of new people, because we are a great choice for yoga or creative workshops. We give special consideration to cyclists and, as you might guess, the name of our place comes from our love for bicycles. Riding through the Dutch-like plains of Żuławy will turn your idea of a cycling holiday upside down.
We invite you to a historic habitat located in Żuławy Wiślane. We transformed the former farm into a place of quiet relaxation for families and friendly groups. We will also be happy to welcome groups for yoga or creative workshops.
At your disposal are:
Heavenly Apartment (8-person)
on the ground floor of the house, with three double bedrooms and sleeping for 2 people on the sofa; has an entrance from the main porch,
Herbal Apartment (8-person)
on the first floor of the house, with three double bedrooms and sleeping for 2 people on the sofa, entrance through a green veranda from the garden side,
Stable Apartment (6-person)
in the former stable building, with two double bedrooms and sleeping for 2 people on a sofa, accessed through an external entrance in the stable building.
Our spaces are designed to provide privacy for independent groups relaxing in the habitat at the same time. Each apartment has a separate entrance and guests may not even pass each other within the building. However, if you come to us in several groups, you can open the doors to the staircases, which will allow you to walk between the apartments.
The space in the stable is common to all guests. Their presence will not interfere with the privacy of the residents of the Stable Apartment, who have a separate entrance to the apartment. There is a shared dry sauna in the stables, a large table, armchairs and table football on the first floor.
The house is surrounded by a large garden with beautiful, hundred-year-old apple trees and walnut trees.
It is possible to organize an intimate wedding with us.
There is a great Willa Joker restaurant nearby, which can provide you with tasty catering for intimate celebrations. It's nearby, so if you don't feel like cooking during your stay, you can always go there or order by phone and have it delivered to our place. However, if you prefer to prepare meals yourself - our kitchens are well-equipped.
When visiting Nowy Dwór Gdański, be sure to stop by for delicious ice cream at the Natural Ice Cream Factory.
Why Up With Wheels? Our place was created largely with cyclists in mind. We love cycling and have had the opportunity to check out the local bicycle routes many times - they are excellent. Asphalt roads leading through fields and meadows where cows graze are practically empty. The biggest challenge for cyclists gliding through Żuławy will be the wind blowing through the local areas, but we appreciate that it makes the trips a bit more demanding. There are EuroVelo bicycle routes 2 km from here.
Vast fields and meadows are also a perfect place for hiking or bird watching. Nearby there are charming towns and villages that delight with their architecture and local culture.
Visit the Ceglana Zagroda Regional Chamber in Powalin. This is a place run by enthusiasts, collecting souvenirs from life in the former Powalina. Part of the exhibition is devoted to the family of the former owners of the red brick house who came to the Recovered Territories after the war. Visiting the chamber is possible by prior arrangement.
We also recommend a trip to Nowy Dwór Gdański. Visit the Żuławy Historical Park - a modern museum telling the history of Żuławy Wiślane. You will see there, among others: items related to former Mennonite settlers.
5 km from us there is the Tinkerowy Zakątek stable, where you can take horse riding lessons and, for example, ride along the local country roads.
WORKSHOPS
Do Góra Kołami is an ideal place for workshops. We invite all yoga, psychoeducational and creative groups - our inspiring space will be the perfect background for calming and developmental practices. In the stable you will find space for classes: with mats or art classes.
Speaking of workshops – we can also organize them for you. We have artist friends who will be happy to conduct workshops for your group (for both adults and children):
– ceramic,
– screen printing,
– wicker,
– painting,
– floristic,
– occasional art workshops (e.g. Christmas).
There are many leisurely ways to spend your time there. At your disposal will be a dry sauna (included in the price of your stay, located in the stable building), garden tables and chairs, deckchairs, and a terrace belonging to the Herbal Apartment. During the season, we encourage you to pick apples in our orchard.
We don't say no to intimate hen parties. This means that if you want to come to us to weave wreaths, practice yoga, run on the grass and sit in the sauna, we will welcome you with open arms. However, if you want to organize a party, we do not recommend it. We value peace, quiet and slow relaxation.
Our children always have a great time here. They organize their own games in a large area and use the games available on site. The best way is to come to us with several children, so that they can spend time creatively together.
Once you gather a few children, make it fun for them and invite them to a workshop. We will give you contact details for great girls who will organize ceramics, screen printing and floristry classes on site.
There is plenty of space to work in the habitat. Each apartment has a spacious living room where you can sit at a large table or on a sofa. One of the bedrooms in the Celestial Suite has a desk. On warm days, you can also use the common area in the stable, available to residents of all apartments, where there is a large table, sofas and armchairs.
Due to the size and common spaces, we will be a great choice for workspaces for teams. We have double bedrooms - some of them with single beds, space for brainstorming and working together at tables.
