Lavender can be added to anything. Every original Provençal herb contains a bit of it. You can bake bread with it, put purple flowers in lemonade, and twigs in sugar. You can make syrup from lavender, it is worth sprinkling it on meat before baking and baking a purple cheesecake. Before I learned all this, I moved to the countryside, and the gardener planted 75 lavender bushes in front of my kitchen window. I made bouquets and wreaths out of them, processed them in the kitchen and learned about the extraordinary properties of this plant. Two years ago, I was gone for good, I left my job and decided to create a space for women, organize workshops, combine my work as a therapist with my passion for hosting people, learning new things and experiencing new things. People come to Zakątek to be inspired by nature, the soothing scent of purple flowers, discovering new flavors, lying in a hammock with a book and meeting. You can also take part in workshops on making lavender products, weaving wreaths or creating bouquets. Maybe there will be some taking place, and if not, there is a good chance that I will organize them for you. A few more important details: two dogs live here - King Draga and the cat Maniek. There is a gate to the forest, 8 km to the sea, and in the area there are wonderful bicycle routes leading along the cliffs. And three houses overlooking a lavender field with 2,300 bushes are waiting for you.
Near a lavender field and overlooking 2,300 bushes, there are three air-conditioned, year-round cottages: Beate, Grosso and Blue Scent. Each of them has a terrace overlooking the meadow and purple bushes.
Grosso and Beate are 50 m². Downstairs there is a living room with a sofa, a table, a kitchenette and a bathroom with a shower. Upstairs there is an open mezzanine with a double bed and two fold-out armchairs. Both are ideal for 4 people, but thanks to the sofa bed, they can accommodate 6 people.
Blue Scent is 27 m². Downstairs there is a living room with a fold-out sofa, a kitchenette and a bathroom with a shower, and upstairs there is an open mezzanine with a double mattress (the space is low and you can't stand upright in it). This cottage is perfect for a couple or single travelers.
The entire area of Zakątek covers 7 ha. There is a house where I live with my husband, Marek, a lavender studio and a main building with a lounge where you can watch a movie, listen to music, play board games or read. For the sake of our two dogs (King and Draga) and our cat Mańek, I invite you to the Pet-Free Corner.
I encourage my guests to help me care for lavender, and I also invite them to workshops organized in Zakątek (herbal, bouquet, wreath or facet workshops, during which we lock lavender bouquets in a spindle) and musical meetings (Music and Lavender series). If I have time, I am happy to organize ad hoc workshops for guests.
All guests can meet in the Lawendowy Biesiadnik - a house specially designed for common feasts, cooking, conversations and board games. Here you will find an equipped kitchen and a huge table. There is also an antique, pre-war sideboard here - a gem that I managed to find.
Each cottage has a kitchenette, but you can also cook in the guest house, where there is a kitchen. There will also be a fireplace at your disposal. You can come to my studio with purple curtains for a lavender infusion, lavender lemonade or coffee. You can sit there at tables overlooking the field. You can also find tables in the field, and tea with lavender, drunk in the company of purple bushes, tastes delicious.
Hares live in Lawendowe Zakątek, partridges are regular visitors, you can also meet badgers and hear cranes flying overhead. These are not the only animals, because our dogs and cat live with us in Machowina. There is a forest behind the fence, the gate is next to our house, I can let you out to wander among the trees.
Each of the houses has its own terrace, where you can relax with a soothing view of the purple bushes and the meadow, but a large part of our 7 ha of land is also at your disposal (if a part is not available, we inform you about it with a special sign). You can walk between the rows of lavender, relax in one of the corners on a purple bench (you can choose from corners: creating goals, doing nothing, good thoughts and shedding weight), drop by for coffee or lemonade in the lavender studio, hide out for a movie in the main building . You can swing with a book in a hammock, make a fire or cook something together in the guest house.
If you feel like it, you can take part in workshops and music days organized in the corner. You can also participate in the production of lavender products and create bouquets and weave wreaths with me.
The Gnilna River flows through Machowino, flowing into the Słupia, and you can sail down the Słupia. An interesting fact is that mountain species of riffles such as graylings and salmon live in the river.
Our area is a paradise for cyclists. Nearby there is a bicycle trail called Through the Green Heart of Pomerania, leading from Ustka to Słupsk. It partially coincides with the USB bicycle trail (abbreviation of the names of the towns: Ustka, Słupsk, Bytów). Next, there is the international R-10 route, which on the section between Ustka and Rowy runs on the former embankment of the railway line, demolished after World War II. You can also drive through the interesting Griffin Ring, presenting the architecture of the region. You can go on a trip to Lake Gardno and climb the observation tower there. The Baltic Seaside Trail runs almost on the very shore of the Baltic Sea, from which you can easily go to the beach, for example for a quick swim or a walk on the sand. I will be happy to go on a bicycle trip with you and show you my favorite routes along the cliff.
Be sure to go from Zakątek to Słupsk (13 km by car), because this city can really surprise you. For example, this is where the world's largest collection of Witkacy's works is located. The collection includes approximately 260 portraits, drawings and graphics. The city has even prepared a tourist trail leading in the artist's footsteps. More information, including about the family game, can be found on the official website of Słupsk (https://www.slupsk.pl/turysta/trasy-turystyczne/ Szukaac-witkacego). In Słupsk, take a walk along the Słupia River and stop by the Witches' Tower, where a branch of the Baltic Gallery of Contemporary Art is located. On the roof of the tower there is a witch flying in the wind - a memory of the trial from 1701, which ended with the burning of Trina Papisten, accused of witchcraft.
The closest you can experience the sea is in Poddąbie (10 km), and Ustka is 13 km from Zakątek. While in the latter, you can visit the Blucher Bunkers, a complex of fortifications from the 1930s. Currently, it is a museum which, including the underground part of the battery, can be visited.
I also recommend to your attention:
– Clay Farm in Smołdzino, an arts and crafts shop with clay products, where you can also take part in workshops (you need to make an appointment for these),
– Open-air museum in Kluki, i.e. the Słowińska Village Museum,
– the lighthouse and the Łącka Dune in Czołpin,
– Góra Rowokół,
– Veneda vineyard in Ustka.
What’s there for children?
Children, if they want, can work with me in the lavender field. I will teach them how to cut flowers, arrange them and make bouquets. I'm always happy to have little helpers. On request, I can organize lavender workshops for children.
What’s there for employees?
There are no desks in the cottages, but if you want to work, you can do it at the dining tables or use the main building or my studio, where there are small tables. The Internet works flawlessly and is also available on the terrace.
