A happy accident, coincidence, or fate—call it what you will. My surname is Tannenberg, which means fir mountain. We dreamed of an old house with a soul that we wanted to renovate, and during our search, fate brought us to Gniewoszów near Jedlnik. We didn't know then that the peak had previously been called Dreitannenberg: Three Fir Hill. The moment was symbolic, because I was pregnant, and there were now three of us. There was no other option but to take it. Our plan for the house, which stands at 705 meters above sea level and is connected to a barn, was: preserve what we could. Preserve the character of the old house and add new ones that don't pretend to be the same. Expose the wooden trusses, one of which told us it was a house from 1833. Finish the bedrooms on the renovated first floor with larch, so it would be cozy and in harmony with nature. When it became clear that the part of the house adjacent to the barn couldn't be saved, we left it open, and that's how the patio was created. And when I searched a book of old Polish proverbs for inspiration for the name, it turned out that the fir tree was once called "gota." It was also said that it talks to the sky because it's so tall. And our roofless house, under the clearest sky in the area, talks to it too. Call this chain of events what you will.

I am a mother, psychologist, climate activist and owner of Gonny. I devoted the last four years of my life to renovating this 200-year-old house in the Bystrzyckie Mountains in the Kłodzko region. I have lived in Wrocław for over 25 years, I love this city, traveling, skiing, cinema, good design, minimalism and contact with nature. I know what a "good place" means to me and I put all my heart into making you feel it in my home. I am fascinated by the idea of kintsugi (gluing old broken ceramics with gold - the joints are visible and create a new quality), I renovated the house according to it - I do not hide the history of the place with its "imperfections", the old walls show traces of the entire history of the house. I restored many of the old pieces of furniture at home myself. We combined the ruins of the building with beautiful larch and comfortable interiors. In Gonna you will see how the spirit of the old house and the history of the place intertwine with modern minimalism.
