There is a wooden house with a fireplace at the foot of Sněžka, looking out over the quiet surroundings from a hill, and it doesn't look as if it is in Karpacz at all, but somewhere in upper Tyrol. This impression is very accurate because, in the 16th century, religious refugees from Zillertal came to our Giant Mountains. They built their own houses here, in their own way, with high floors on embellished pillars. We restored one of them, furnished it with eye-catching décor and gave it back to our guests with a garden passing into a forest and a trail leading to Krucze Skały (you can go there in your slippers, but we don't advise it). We will tell you where the most beautiful sunrise is, where you will be swallowed by fog and why it is not worth doing everything that others do in Karpacz. We know local secrets and places which few people know about - if you are interested, we will whisper them in your ear.
Generally, it's like grandma's house during the holidays - we have creaky doors, wooden floors, soft blankets, which we wrap ourselves in while sitting by the fireplace late at night. We also have a bathtub that makes bubbles (recommended after a day spent on the trails), a coffee machine that saves mornings and a terrace from which you can see the Milky Way in the Giant Mountains. We are getting ready for a renovation that will revitalise our old place, so if you want to visit a really old house with a soul that groans from old age, this is the time. After that, it will only get more modern.
The villa is not an ordinary old wooden house, but an architecturally unusual building under the supervision of a conservator of monuments. We have therefore tried to equip its interiors in such a way that it is unconventional and at the same time very comfortable for its guests.
We have space for 2-8 adults with children and a quadruped, and the layout of the rooms looks like this:
- downstairs a bedroom with a double bed and a bathroom with a shower,
- upstairs a bedroom, living room with a kitchen and a bathroom with a bathtub (with hydromassage).
We serve our guests the best natural linen bedding and towels.
The regional character is emphasized by the old, restored and hand-painted wardrobes and chests that you will find in our interiors. Glass, ceramics, linen and local cuisine are the legacy of these lands, which we try to emphasize by showing the work of local creators and artists. On the walls of the villa you will find graphics by Iwan Friedrich that we have collected over the years, there are also old skis and horned sleighs emphasizing the spirit of the region.
The renovation is behind us, the house is refreshed and sleek. The bathrooms have undergone a thorough renovation, and the floors are indeed old German, but cast from reinforced concrete and we have put new boards on them (they have aged nicely) and they do not creak.
The house seems to have turned upside down, because you have to climb to the first floor to get to the living room, kitchen, dining room, one bedroom and bathroom, and you run down the stairs to the master bedroom and bathroom with shower. We also have two terraces, one open for sunny days, the other covered for rainy afternoons with a book.
The villa is surrounded by a huge garden with old trees and hundred-year-old rhododendrons that currently outgrow the house! When they bloom in May and June, the spectacle is invaluable! The garden is located on a hill, which additionally creates its picturesque image, naturally transitioning into the forest.
We put the house at your disposal with a well-equipped kitchen, where you can indulge yourself:
- 4-burner stove with electric oven,
- fridge-freezer,
- dishwasher,
- microwave,
- electric tea kettle and coffee maker,
- tableware for 12 people, dishes, pots.
The nearest shop is just around the corner. We will also give you a few addresses where you will find regional delicacies, and you can go to friendly Hosts for breakfast (just let us know in advance).
When we go to the mountains, we leave boredom far behind and enjoy it to the fullest, and there is plenty to do. No car, because you can get everywhere on foot. We have it tested, as well as what you can do in the area.
In spring and summer:
- we usually walk in the forest, pick mushrooms and listen to the birds singing,
- we have a barbecue, lie in the garden and admire the views from the terrace,
- we run up Śnieżka and walk along mountain trails,
- we go to the Szklarki and Kamieńczyk waterfalls,
- we climb Krucze Skały,
- we ride horses,
- we swim in the nearby pool, and with the kids we go to the aquapark,
- we visit the Wang temple,
- we have fun on the summer toboggan run.
In autumn and winter:
- we wrap ourselves in a blanket and warm up with a book by the fireplace,
- we go skiing (ski lifts: Kopa, Biały Jar, Kolorowa and many, many others)
- we go crazy on the winter toboggan run again,
- we skate,
- we climb Śnieżka with the right equipment,
- ... and when it's too cold, we rush to the swimming pool (Tropicana Water Park 2.6 km) and warm up in the sauna.
VOGUE POLSKA magazine appreciated us, describing our place in its annual holiday supplement TRAVEL, where this year the most beautiful places in the Polish mountains were described. Thus, we can call ourselves a vogue place! :)
