Here, you dine on English porcelain, sit on an Art Nouveau sofa (the trip to Warsaw to get it would deserve a story of its own), and take cups from a sideboard that we managed to assemble from three. Two fell apart during the renovation. You sleep here on a mezzanine overlooking the forest, or rather on the stove. In the evenings, you burn in the handmade fireplace, and in the mornings, you watch for deer through the windows. You wander through the interiors, reminiscent of your grandmother's house, or even a bit like an open-air museum, looking at the collected wonders on the walls and touching the beams that are over 150 years old. The furniture we've gathered here can't be bought. You can't build a house with such atmosphere and smell; you have to find it. We found this Lemko chuża near Dukla in the Low Beskids and brought it to Odrzykoń. We carried it by hand, board by board, the last 100 meters, because the lack of a road prevented transport through the forest. The concrete for the foundations was hauled here by a dump truck through a neighbor's field. And despite curses flying through the air, the cottage was built again. We added a terrace so we could sit on it in both sun and rain, with a view of the overwhelming greenery of the forest. The small cottage stands on a hectare of land, a few dozen meters from the larger cottage and our house. This is our place on earth, which we share, because the rural idyll is good for everyone.
You will sleep soundly in an over 150-year-old house that was once a Lemko village. We found it near Dukla in the Low Beskids and brought it to Odrzykoń. We had to carry all the beams down 100 meters by hand, because there is no access to the forest.
Although our grandmothers didn't sleep on the mezzanine, the bedroom there is truly idyllic, angelic and reminiscent of the atmosphere of grandma's house. After climbing the winding stairs to the top, there is a double bed covered with pillows, pillows, pillows, bedspreads and blankets. The mezzanine is huge and boasts a view from it. You can look at the forest through the window and the living room through the railing. It has a decorated sofa, a sideboard and an atmospheric fireplace. We are giving you another bedroom, almost on the stove! The second bedroom is tiny but cozy. It has a fold-out bed that can sleep 2 people.
On the ground floor there is also a kitchen connected to the dining room and a bathroom with a shower. And in front of the house there is a terrace overlooking the garden.
VillageMać! – a small cottage stands on a plot of well over a hectare. There is an even larger Wsiamać cottage there! and our cottage, but they are located several dozen meters from each other. The small cottage is located almost in the forest. There are no other neighbors, only the forest, deer paths, meadows... Idyllic, angelic and grandma-like!
The kitchen is also decorated "grandma's style" and connected to the atmospheric dining room. There is no dishwasher, but as compensation, people eat here on English china, salads are prepared in a grinder, and coffee is brewed in a coffee maker (espresso machines of any kind do not fit the idyllic atmosphere of the cottage, so there are simply none on site). However, there is everything else you need for cooking, and you can enjoy your meals in the dining room or go out on the terrace with them.
Some local gastro curiosities:
– at the market in Krosno you can buy vegetables and fruits from local farmers,
– in Dukla you can buy delicious goat cheeses with various flavors,
– in the Wojkówka craft brewery you can try beers based on old recipes and see their production process,
– in Korczyn there is a Chocolate Pump Room, where, in addition to treating your palate with delicacies, you can also take part in workshops conducted by the Polish Master Confectioner, Mirosław Pelczar,
– at the Zamkowa vineyard in Korczyn, at your request, we can organize wine tasting (for at least 4 people),
– in Kombornia, at an altitude of 470 meters above sea level there is another vineyard, Widokowa, where, in addition to tasting wine, you can admire the panorama of the Low Beskid Mountains (the vineyard organizes various events, you can learn more on their FB).
Come to our cottage to feel the atmosphere of the past, sleep in comfortable beds in wood-smelling interiors, sit on the terrace and soothe your senses with the view of greenery, spend evenings by the fireplace, look out for forest animals in the morning, sip coffee in your pajamas, don't rush anywhere and allow yourself everything.
If you feel like discovering the area, here is a list of our recommendations:
– it is worth going to Korczyna, Haczów and Rymanów by bike, but you can also set off without a plan, because the area is perfect for two-wheeled trips (you can stop at a nearby brewery or a chocolate pub in Korczyn),
– every year in September, balloons rise into the Krosno sky as part of the International Mountain Balloon Competition, you can spot them from the garden!
– in the Prządki rock reserve, located on the border of Czarnorzeka and Korczyna, you will see, among others, rock clubs up to 20 meters high. There are 5 tourist trails running through the reserve, from which you can see the Kamieniec castle,
– the castle in Korczyn-Odrzykoń is the one described in Zemsta (its owner was Aleksander Fredro, who, while browsing the archives, came across the procedural files of the previous owners of the estate - they became the inspiration for the book). The castle is open to visitors from mid-April to the end of October, and during the autumn and winter season, maintenance works are carried out there,
– in winter, numerous cross-country trails and the ski slope in Czarnorzeki tempt you, although you can also have a lot of fun sliding down the nearby hills on sleds or apple skis (and not only children have it),
– the nearby charming Krosno is full not only of glass, but also of museums. We recommend to your attention the best tourist facility since 2013: the Glass Heritage Center in Krosno. In the Podkarpackie Museum you will see the largest collection of kerosene lamps in Europe, in the Crafts Museum - works of local craftsmen, and in the Parish Tower - clocks made by Michał Mięsowicz, the founder of the First National Tower Clock Factory, as well as pubs, cafes and a very nice market square,
– you can kayak on the Wisłok and San rivers,
– in August it is worth going to the Krosno Carpathian Climates (with wine, bread, dances, concerts) and the Hungarian Wine Festival,
– under Żarnowska Góra in Strzyżów there is a shelter tunnel, i.e. an underground railway shelter for Hitler's staff train,
– history enthusiasts may be interested in the wooden architecture trail and Orthodox churches of the Low Beskids,
– in Żarnowiec there is a biographical museum of Maria Konopnicka with a historic manor house, a 3-hectare park and a warehouse (former farm building),
– in Trzcinica there is an archaeological open-air museum called Carpathian Troja,
– a little further there is Sanok with a charming old town, a Galician market square, a beautiful open-air museum, a viewing platform, the Zbigniew Beksiński gallery and the Icon Museum, which is right next to it.
Here we have an atmosphere straight from a holiday with your beloved grandmother. The youngest can freely explore the huge garden, look out for animals emerging from the forest and watch birds (it's worth taking binoculars with you). Forest walks and bike rides are options for active people. In winter, it is worth having a sled with you, because the surrounding hills bring a lot of fun. You can also hit the slopes. We leave books and board games inside for children, which come in handy when the weather is bad or when the evenings are long.
What else?
– The Bursaki Swimming Pool Complex in Krosno is picturesquely situated right on the meandering Wisłok River. There are three heated swimming pools, including a paddling pool for children with numerous attractions (such as a water and dry playground),
– nature trails: At the Kamieniec castle and the path connecting Odrzykoń with the Prządki reserve,
– Glass Heritage Center in Krosno, where you can visit and visit glassworks shows (for various age groups),
– a train ride through the streets of Krosa,
– Museum of the Oil and Gas Industry in Bóbrka, which is located on the premises of the oldest and still operating oil mine in the world, opened in 1854,
– Ethnocenter of the Krosno Land, where you can go for an interactive walk, a meeting with living culture and one of many organized workshops (handicrafts, culinary, crafts and even singing),
– Educational Center of the Magura National Park in Krempna, where you can take part in a multimedia show showing a year of life in the park (and while listening to the sounds made by a wolf, deer or buzzard), take part in workshops on recognizing animal tracks and go on a trail in search of adventures ,
– Archaeological Open-Air Museum Carpathian Troja in Trzcin, where pottery and archery workshops are held,
– Żarnowiec, and there is a Folk School dating back to 1866, where numerous classes and workshops are held, as well as games and fun from the old days. Right next to it is the Maria Konopnicka Museum.
– a ride on the Bieszczady Forest Railway with two routes to choose from: from Majdan to Balnica (9 km long) and from Majdan to Przysłupa, which is 11 km long (currently under renovation and open on the 6-kilometer section to Dołżyca). In winter, the cable car runs only on the route to Balnica,
– a gondola ride in Solina, running between the Plasza and Jawor mountains, along the dam on Lake Solina (takes about 8 minutes).
