I welcome you in the heart of the Elbląg Old Town, on Bednarska Street, which before the war was one of the most representative streets of the city. In the 14th century it was called platea Doleatorum, then it was known as Böttcherstrasse (böttcher is German for cooper), and from the 17th century until the war it had a plaque with the inscription Spieringstrasse. The latter name commemorated a merchant who came from what is now the Netherlands and who owned the House of Kings, eagerly visited by European monarchs. It housed, among others, Władysław IV, Charles Gustaf, Augustus II the Strong, Queen Catherine with her court and her daughter Maria, the future wife of Louis XV, and Frederick the Great. It became Bednarska Street in the 1990s because it was previously known as Mostowa Street. Throughout history, it housed the first underwear factory in East Prussia. Its founder, Hermann Paulus, organized fashion shows in Elbląg. There are many things you may not know about the lowest city in Poland. Elbląg is one of the oldest Polish cities, and nearby there are traces of the ancient settlement of Truso. You can discover stories by walking, kayaking or cycling. You can also go on a cruise on the Elbląg Canal and on a narrow-gauge ride. Your base will be comfortable apartments, the interiors of which I can say are exquisite. I found and added furniture and accessories that make it feel like home. A house to which I invite you to relax and have a closer encounter with the Elbląg Uplands and the Gdańsk Coast.
In the heart of the Elbląg Old Town, I have two apartments for you, located on Bednarska Street, a short distance from each other.
The apartment at 5 Bednarska Street has 55 m² and consists of a spacious living room with a kitchen, a separate bedroom with a double bed, a bathroom with a shower and a balcony facing the courtyard, with a view of the cathedral tower.
The apartment at 8 Bednarska Street has 50 m² and has the same layout and a balcony overlooking the river.
Both apartments are located very close to the Elbląg Canal and right next to the marina run by Grupa Wodna.
Welcome to Elbląg, one of the oldest cities in Poland (and also in Germany), which is the lowest-lying city in Poland. It is located at the mouth of the Elbląg River, to which it owes its name, to the Vistula Lagoon. Geographically, it is the south-west of the moraine Elbląg Upland and the Gdańsk Coast. Elbląg is located within the Elbląg Plateau Landscape Park.
The attraction is the old/new town of Elbląg, in the heart of which you will live. During World War II, the old town was completely destroyed. The Old Town of Elbląg was rebuilt in a style called retroversion, in accordance with the old urban layout, but freely referring to the historical style. Take a walk around this part of the city to admire Elbląg's tenement houses, including: the Jost von Kampen tenement house (ul. Grabary 12), a tenement house with a carved entrance portal from the end of the 16th century (ul. Wigilijna 3) and tenement houses on ul. Saint Spirit 3-4. Bednarska is very close to the port from which historic ships sail on unique slipways. Thanks to the ditch - a shipping canal connecting the Bay of Gdańsk and the Vistula Lagoon, you can get from Elbląg to Krynica Morska.
Right next to the apartments there is the Grupa Wodna marina, where you can not only rent a kayak, SUP and play volleyball, but also drink coffee and use the sauna. You can also rent bikes there to see Żuławy and the Vistula Spit from the perspective of two wheels. Velo Baltica (a route included in the international EuroVelo 10 route) leads from Świnoujście to Elbląg, one of the longest marked bicycle routes in Poland, leading mostly close to the sea.
What else is worth doing in Elbląg?
– visit Pheasantry, a forest park with a beech and hornbeam forest, ravines, streams and hills – an ideal place for a walk, a bike ride, and in winter, cross-country skiing. There are four trails, and in the park's buffer zone you will find Góra Chrobrego, which offers a panoramic view of the city,
– go to Lake Drużno,
– visit the Art Center – EL Gallery,
– see the Market Gate, which is the only preserved fragment of the original defensive fortifications, where there is a viewing point,
– enter the cathedral of St. Nicholas from the 18th century, where there is also a viewing point,
– walk along the church path, i.e. a narrow passage between houses, connecting Wigilijna and Mostowa streets. In the past, the trail led from the Old Town to the gate of the former Dominican church,
– visit the Archaeological and Historical Museum,
– walk along the boulevard along the banks of the Elbląg River.
It is worth going on a kayaking trip along the Elbląg Canal or a cruise along it from Elbląg to Buczyniec (cruises take place from the beginning of May to the end of September and have various lengths). You can also set off on a narrow-gauge railway that connects Nowy Dwór Gdański with the coastal towns of the Vistula Spit. In addition to beautiful views of the Żuławy landscape, forests and beaches of the spit, you can see interesting monuments, including: the Gothic church in Cyganek, the railway bridge over the Szkarpawa River and the Stutthof Museum in Sztutowo.
Nearby cities and towns:

– Nowy Dwór Gdański, the capital of Żuławy with the Żuławy Museum. In the building of the former dairy of the Swiss Leonhard Krieg from 1902, traces of the cultural heritage of Żuławy of the Vistula Delta are collected. In addition to the history of the narrow-gauge railway, stories about Stobbes Machandel, a traditional regional drink, and the secrets of the history of the Mennonites, you can also take part in ceramics and regional cuisine workshops - brewing, cheese-making and bread-baking.
– Stablewo, Orłowo, Żuławki and Cyganek are towns near the new Dwór Gdański, where you can see arcaded houses, real gems of wooden architecture of Mennoites, settlers from the Netherlands who once inhabited these areas.
