You've probably heard about enchanted forests many times. But has anyone ever told you about the Zakuty Las? Lend your ears, we will tell you. About a kilometer behind the village of Kuty there is a forest covered with rustling pines. For now, we are alone here, just us, a small house with a red roof and green shutters. It has two comfortable bedrooms, a handy set of children's amenities that means you don't have to pack things up to the roof, a large table at which you can eat well and paint pictures, and a garden full of space. In Zakuty Las you can indulge in undemanding activities such as hammocking, lying in the bathtub and breathing pine oil with health-promoting properties. You can try moderate activities, for example, go to the forest for a canoe for lunch, organize a comet tournament or light a bonfire. You can also hop on a bike and complete one of the nearby loops or take a seat in a kayak to paddle through rivers and lakes. And also go with all your equipment to one of them to go sunbathing and build sand forts. We must warn you that Zakuty Las, although inconspicuous, is like a forest from a fairy tale. He gives everyone what they want.
In our house right next to the forest, there is plenty of space for everyone looking for rest, both big and small. On the ground floor there is: a living room with a fireplace and a fold-out sofa, connected to a kitchenette and a dining area with a table for 8 people and a bathroom with a shower. In the attic there are two closed bedrooms, a bathroom with a bathtub and a work space with a desk and a fold-out sofa.
You can choose whether you want a double bed or two single beds in the bedroom, we will prepare the selected arrangement for you. Additional sleeping places are available on two fold-out sofas (in the living room and in the open space upstairs). If you need it, we also have a travel cot.
The house has a large, covered terrace with a table and a sofa set. There is a place for a bonfire in the garden. Our plot is fenced, and the extension of our garden is the forest that begins just behind the fence. Due to the proximity of the forest and the animals living there, as well as out of concern for children with allergies, we decided to invite you here without animals. We hope you will understand this.
There are 3 parking spaces on the plot, one is covered.
The house has a fully equipped kitchen where you can prepare everything you want. You can also light a bonfire or barbecue. We leave you the sourdough starter and the bread recipe. And we encourage you to bake a cake or make waffles, because a holiday without cake or waffles is nothing!
There is no question of boredom here! Well, unless that's what you want. Our house is located in a beautiful place in Masuria, right next to the forest, and nearby there are small and charming lakes. We recommend walking, cycling, Nordic walking and mushroom picking just outside the fence. At home you will find: books, board games, a fireplace and a bathtub in one of the bathrooms, and our terrace is perfect for communal feasts.
Less than a kilometer from us there is a rural beach on Lake Czarna Kuta. There are also several other beaches quite close, we will share with you the directions to our favorite places. There are also lakes in the area: Wiedza Kuta, Krzywa Kuta and Wilkus. And north of the latter, the Piłackie Wzgórza Reserve, which may surprise you with its terrain reminiscent of foothill regions.
The Masurian Legends and Stories Trail runs through Kuty, a loop of approximately 100 km. You can cross it by bike. For two wheels, we also recommend: the Masurian Bicycle Loop (i.e. about 300 km of routes completed in the summer of 2023, connected near Węgorzewo with Green Velo), the Mała Pętla Mamr, the Węgorzewska Loop or the Great Loop of Lake Stręgiel. There is a very pleasant 18 km long bicycle route around Lake Gołdopiwo.
While at the above-mentioned Gołdapiwo lake, see the Przerwanki lock on the Sapina River. You can cross it by kayak. Sapina connects Kruklin, Patelnia, Gołdapiwo, Wilkus, Pozezdrze, Stręgiel and flows into Lake Święcajty. Its kayaking trail is 35 km long. Along the way, you can see the ruins of a destroyed railway viaduct in Grądy Kruklaneckie and a historic wooden (partly brick) fisherman's house.
We can help you organize the trip. We also have a friend who is a fishing guide and can take you to places where you will definitely catch something.
Other attractions:
– Bison farm in Wolisko. From May to September, you can drop by for morning or evening feeding and watch the animals from the viewing platform (remember to make an appointment in advance). About a hundred of these animals live in the forest.
– Trace of the devil's paw near Jakunówek.
– Giżycko. Visit great pubs there, as well as a unique place on the cultural map - the Schron Art Gallery, organized in a historic shelter, where there are graphics by Picasso and works by Beksiński.
– In winter, we have Okrągłe Resort Ski near Giżycko and Piękna Góra in Gołdap, which are a paradise for skiers. There are also cross-country trails in the area.
What’s there for children?
Children are waiting for children in the garden surrounding the house; trampoline, swings, small sandbox and slide. We also have a badminton set, balls and frisbee on site. And the house has a lot of children's amenities that make staying with the little ones easier (a high chair, a toilet seat or a baby bathtub).
What’s there for employees?
Do you have to work during your trip? This may not be an ideal option, but we have a solution. On the mezzanine there is a desk with a monitor and keyboard, connect your computer and work. You can also enjoy listening to the birds singing on the terrace or in a hammock.
