In the westernmost range of the Carpathians, shepherds celebrate the traditional and redyk, when it snows, it snows heavily, so sleds and snowshoes are set in motion, and old highland houses find new owners. It is here, amidst the silence interrupted by the wailing of sheep, that we run a cozy homestead in the Żywiec Beskids. And in it, next to a traditional cottage built in 1894, we also have a cottage with the interiors of an old barn, but in a comfortable setting and with a view of the panorama of Muńcoł, deer and birdsong as a bonus. Just right for a single, a duo or a quartet. The summer season looks like this: kilometers of trails in the mountains or hammocks or deckchairs in the garden and a tan, as you can see. You can go to the mountains, knock on the shepherd's door for the best oscypek cheese and eat plums straight from our trees. To relax after a long hike, you can jump into the pool in the former quarry under our mountain. In winter, traverse the snowy trails in the available snowshoes, build a snowman and put an igloo in the garden, or grab a sled and slide down the hill just behind the fence.
We don't serve magic or sorcery. But we do have people. People of flesh and blood. We want you to feel at home with us.
On the premises of the settlement, we also offer a separate double room or a multi-person apartment in an original Beskid cottage. You can find the offer on Slowhop here:

We are opening the door to a new cottage in our settlement. Your rest will be made more pleasant by the terrace with a beautiful and undisturbed view of the Muńcoł panorama, as well as the singing of birds and deer behind the fence. You will receive the keys together with a fresh breath of mountain nature.
The cottage is 37 m² and the interiors are in the colors of nature: the green of forests, the brown of trees, but also meadows full of colorful flowers. The ground floor is a living space with a bathroom, a living room with a kitchenette, and access to the terrace with a beautiful view of the meadow, forest and mountains. In the attic there is a bedroom with a double bed and a bedroom with two single beds.
We filled the interiors with delicacies that refer to the old life in the countryside and the long history of our mountain habitat. We hope that in the cottage you will feel the atmosphere of an old shed in a comfortable version.
We do not like waste and ostentation. For the construction we used boards recovered from the original shed, and the interior has refreshed furniture and lighting from the times of the Polish People's Republic, and even parts of crumbling antiques. There are also countertops, shelves and even lamps made of pieces of ancient trees. Most of the new materials were obtained locally, and many elements of the interior were hand-made by a highland carpenter.
We tried to create atmospheric lighting so that you could spend time playing board games with your family, reading in peace and quiet or having a romantic dinner for two.
In the garden of the homestead there is a barbecue shelter and a place for a bonfire, and behind the fence there are 3 hectares of meadows. Cell phones catch LTE range and everyone will find a corner for themselves to work. The house is centrally heated, so you will be warm and cozy.
We don't offer meals (apart from freshly baked homemade sourdough bread), but you can order delicious homemade and local products before your arrival. The dishes are prepared with love by local housewives. IMPORTANT! Please place your meal orders at least 5 days before arrival. If you haven't placed your order yet, you can still order the daily menu.
Of course, you can also cook, as the cottage includes a kitchenette with a refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, two-burner induction cooktop, coffee maker, and essential kitchen accessories. Our mountain clearing also features a fire pit and a barbecue shelter.

Shepherd's hut on Hala Królowej (7 km from us) serves incredibly delicious oscypek cheese. The shepherd sells it from May to October. He drives 500 head of sheep from Zakopane for the summer season. Unforgettable views are included with the oscypek cheese. Year-round, for delicious local cheeses, head to Serowa Kraina in Rajcza or take a walk with the hostess towards Wielki Smereków.
In Rajcza, there's a local market on Thursday mornings, where you can buy good produce, and in Ujsoły, the Centrum Delikatesy delivers authentic cold cuts from local producers on Thursdays.
Our habitat is located on the yellow trail to Wielka Rycerzowa and on the other side to Krawce Wierch. There are shelters at both peaks with delicious food and beautiful views. For mountain hikers, we have kilometers of hiking and cycling trails. We provide maps and advice on site.
Winter can treat us to a lot of snow, so in addition to building an igloo, having a snowball fight, sledding behind the fence, you can grab a shovel and dig up the house as part of some outdoor exercise. You can go ski touring just outside the fence, and if you don't have your own equipment, you can rent it near us in Rajcza. If you don't ski, we have snowshoes for you.
Autumn is full of mushrooms and the phenomenal calls of deer in the rut. It often looks like this: "Honey, I'm going to the larch for a moment to see if there are butterflies" and you come back with 4 kilograms of mushrooms.
In August, Ujsoły hosts Wawrzyńcowe Hudy - a celebration of the highlanders from Ujsoły (it is part of the Beskid Culture Week), when there is a festival of folk bands from all over the world over the weekend, and the culmination is the evening burning of a 20-meter-high wooden tower.
An important ritual in the highlander culture is the spring custom and the autumn redyk. Sheep with shepherds go all the way from the Tatra Mountains in search of green grass. In June every year, a shepherd's custom takes place in Soblówka, i.e. a drive of sheep to the village and an accompanying event. In autumn, there is a holiday in Soblówka, i.e. redyk, a farewell to the shepherd before returning with the flock of sheep to Tarty for the winter. Every year, Baca drives a herd of 500 sheep through the mountains from Zakopane to Soblówka and back.
Not far from us, in Soblówka, there is a shepherd's hut where Baca works while grazing sheep. You can buy delicious, fresh and not cheated cheeses there. We recommend it wholeheartedly.
Endless stretches of grass, hares, roe deer, deer and sometimes sheep outside the window, in winter snow up to the tip of the nose and icicles like knights' swords. The reality is truly fairy-tale, and this is the best natural playground.
There are hammocks and swings for babies to swing on. In winter, we provide snowshoes, sleds and shovels for building igloos for little yetis. Evenings are filled with baking food by the fire, playing board games, reading books and counting the stars in the sky.
On site, we can rent a Thule off-road trailer for hiking (summer or winter) and mountain biking trips with children from 2 months up to 22 kg. If you want to climb higher peaks and shelters, we will rent you a Thule backpack carrier.
Below our mountain (approx. 2 km away) is the Glinka Geopark, an old quarry transformed into open swimming pools. In July and August there is a zip line, a rope park, a playground and something to eat. There are plenty of attractions for a whole day of fun.
In the house, at your request, we can place a travel cot for babies, a high chair, and the equipment includes a potty, a stool and a changing table.
The larger bedroom has a work corner with a small laptop table and an armchair. On the ground floor you can work at the dining table or at the table on the terrace with a beautiful view, where there is also an electricity socket.
