In the westernmost range of the Carpathians, the largest Polish river has its source, shepherds celebrate the custom and redyk, when it snows, it snows heavily, so sleds and snowshoes are in motion, and old highlander houses find new owners. It is here, amidst the silence interrupted by the slaughter of sheep, that we run an intimate habitat in the Beskid Żywiecki Mountains. And in it, next to the traditional cottage built in 1894, we also have a house with the interior of an old shed, but in a comfortable setting and with a view of the panorama of Muńcoł, deer and birds singing for free. Perfect for a single, duo or quartet. The summer season looks like this: kilometers of trails in the mountains or hammocks or deckchairs in the garden and a tan, you see. You can go to the mountains, knock at the shepherd's hut for the best oscypek cheese and eat plums straight from our trees. To relax after a long hike, you can jump into the pool in the former quarry under our mountain. In winter, traverse the snow-covered trails in available snowshoes, build a snowman and place an igloo in the garden, or grab a sled and slide down the hill right behind the fence. We do not serve witchcraft or magic. There are people for that. People of flesh and blood. We want you to feel at home with us.

Here Slowhop will describe your place

Host:
Klaudia i Witek
We are a married couple in love with the mountains and nature. Varsovians who led the life of townspeople, who set off in search of a mountain home on the edge of a natural paradise. We knew that the place had to be special. An old cottage that needs to be reconstructed, in the not yet fully discovered, not trampled by tourists mountains, close to trails, high with a view of the surrounding mountains, with access to the forest, surrounded by meadows, so that we can implement our ideas for the development of the cottage in the future. The search did not last long. A coincidence took us to Soblówka, a village in Beskid Żywiecki, on the very border with Slovakia, and there to a mountain cottage with a soul, built in 1894. Despite the fact that we visited many places in the following weeks, we knew that our hearts had already chosen it. We became the owners of a mountain cottage right on the trail, surrounded by silence and breathtaking views of nature, away from the rush of the city. Come to us in the mountains to experience peace and quiet, listen to the singing of birds, and the roar of deer in autumn, gaze at the starry dark sky, traverse uncrowded mountain trails, follow unpaved trails in snowshoes in winter, and we will be happy to share the family atmosphere on-site, by a campfire or fireplace, we will tell you about the contact of townspeople with everyday duties in a mountainous cottage and we will tell you about local cultural traditions.

We are opening the door to a new house in our habitat. Your relaxation will be enhanced by the terrace with a beautiful and unobstructed view of the Muńcoł panorama, as well as the singing of birds and deer behind the fence. You will receive the keys along with a fresh breath of mountain nature. The house has an area of 37 m² and interiors in the colors of nature: green forests, brown trees, but also meadows full of colorful flowers. The ground floor is a living space with a bathroom, a living room with a kitchenette, and access to the terrace with a beautiful view of the meadow, forest and mountains. In the attic there is a bedroom with a double bed and a bedroom with two single beds. We filled the interior with delicacies that refer to old life in the countryside and the long history of our mountain habitat. We hope that in the house you will feel the atmosphere of an old shed in a comfortable version. We don't like waste and luxury. For construction, we used boards recovered from the original local shed, and the interior contains refreshed furniture and lighting from the times of the Polish People's Republic, and even parts of crumbling antiques. There are also countertops, shelves and even lamps made from pieces of old trees. We sourced most of the new materials locally, and many interior elements were handmade by a highland carpenter. We have tried to create atmospheric lighting so that you can spend time with pleasure, playing board games with your family, reading in peace and quiet or having a romantic dinner for two. In the garden of the habitat there is a barbecue shelter and a place for a bonfire, and behind the fence there are 3 hectares of meadows. Cells have LTE coverage and everyone will find a corner to work. The house is centrally heated, so you will be warm and cozy.

A shepherd's hut on Hala Królowej (7 km from us) with incredibly delicious oscypek cheese. Baca sells from May to October. He then drives 500 sheep from Zakopane here for the summer season. Unforgettable views in a package with oscypek cheese. However, all year round, for delicious local cheeses, go to the Cheese Land in Rajcza or take a walk to the landlady towards Wielki Smerekowo. In Ujsoły, on Friday mornings, there is a local market where you can buy good products, and on Thursdays, Delikatesy Centrum delivers real meats from local producers.

Our habitat is located on the yellow trail to Wielka Rycerzowa and on the other side to Krawce Wierch. There are shelters at both peaks with delicious food and beautiful views. For mountain hikers, we have kilometers of hiking and cycling trails. We provide maps and advice on site. Winter can treat us to a lot of snow, so in addition to building an igloo, having a snowball fight, sledding behind the fence, you can grab a shovel and dig up the house as part of some outdoor exercise. You can go ski touring just outside the fence, and if you don't have your own equipment, you can rent it near us in Rajcza. If you don't ski, we have snowshoes for you. Autumn is full of mushrooms and the phenomenal calls of deer in the rut. It often looks like this: "Honey, I'm going to the larch for a moment to see if there are butterflies" and you come back with 4 kilograms of mushrooms. In August, Ujsoły hosts Wawrzyńcowe Hudy - a celebration of the highlanders from Ujsoły (it is part of the Beskid Culture Week), when there is a festival of folk bands from all over the world over the weekend, and the culmination is the evening burning of a 20-meter-high wooden tower. An important ritual in the highlander culture is the spring custom and the autumn redyk. Sheep with shepherds go all the way from the Tatra Mountains in search of green grass. In June every year, a shepherd's custom takes place in Soblówka, i.e. a drive of sheep to the village and an accompanying event. In autumn, there is a holiday in Soblówka, i.e. redyk, a farewell to the shepherd before returning with the flock of sheep to Tarty for the winter. Every year, Baca drives a herd of 500 sheep through the mountains from Zakopane to Soblówka and back. Not far from us, in Soblówka, there is a shepherd's hut where Baca works while grazing sheep. You can buy delicious, fresh and not cheated cheeses there. We recommend it wholeheartedly.

Endless stretches of grass, hares, roe deer, deer and sometimes sheep outside the window, in winter snow up to the tip of the nose and icicles like knights' swords. The reality is truly fairy-tale, and this is the best natural playground. There are hammocks and swings for babies to swing on. In winter, we provide snowshoes, sleds and shovels for building igloos for little yetis. Evenings are filled with baking food by the fire, playing board games, reading books and counting the stars in the sky. On site, we can rent a Thule off-road trailer for hiking (summer or winter) and mountain biking trips with children from 2 months up to 22 kg. If you want to climb higher peaks and shelters, we will rent you a Thule backpack carrier. Below our mountain (approx. 2 km away) is the Glinka Geopark, an old quarry transformed into open swimming pools. In July and August there is a zip line, a rope park, a playground and something to eat. There are plenty of attractions for a whole day of fun. In the house, at your request, we can place a travel cot for babies, a high chair, and the equipment includes a potty, a stool and a changing table.

How do I get there?

Icon Car

Our address: Mały Smereków, Glinka, Żywiec Beskid Mountains, Poland

Translated by Google Translate.

Our habitat is located on the top of the hamlet of Mały Smereków at an altitude of 690 m above sea level, where you enter from the town of Glinka. The entrance to our mountain hamlet is a short but winding asphalt road (if there is snow, you need a 4x4 drive and sometimes chains, or we will take you down). At the top, at the end of the road, before the fence of the last house on the right, there is an unpaved exit to us (150 m). If you are unsure about the descent (it may be slippery), we will advise you to park upstairs near the exit, we can always help with your belongings :) If you leave your car downstairs in winter and want to drive somewhere during your stay, it's a 15-minute walk from the house to the car. Remember that there will be an entrance back to the top :)
