Mondays are lazy in Leszczewo. Tuesdays are basically the same, Wednesdays are also not the worst. If you think about it, in natural circumstances like this, it becomes quite an effort - every day of the week is lazy here. Because the circumstances are truly lazy, the greenery is pleasing to the eyes, the trees cast a shadow, and the memories of the former habitat in the Wigry National Park are still present. Movements become slow (this rule does not apply to children), bodies become lazy, hair is loose, and decisions about what to do are not made immediately. However, there is no need to think about this feature of our piece of Suwałki countryside, it is better to indulge in leisurely drinking coffee on the terrace and eating quiche aux poireaux at a table under a linden tree. The one Patrycja planted when she was 6 years old. The tree has grown and a house has been built on it, which can be visited by daredevils who specialize in tree climbing. And next door, on the foundations of a hundred-year-old house ruined by time, we rebuilt a new, large house with respect to its former form. We gave it a light gray façade mixed with blue, and we decorated the interior in natural colors, mixing modernity with rusticity. You will be happy to see the meadows surrounding us, the river flowing nearby and the news that you can swim across one of the nearby lakes or bask in laziness on a pier where you can be completely alone.
We put forward a thesis: nowhere can you relax as well as here. Now you have to check it out!
In the Wigry National Park, where wildlife peeks through the windows and traces of the former habitat are still visible, we have a house for you with a light gray façade decorated with blue elements. We built it on the foundations of an old house, respecting its original form.
The house surrounded by forest is divided into 2 independent apartments, each of 75 m² and can accommodate 6 people. We are currently renting one part (the second one is not ready yet), in which on the ground floor you will find: a living room with a kitchenette, with a dining area and a seating area (with a comfortable corner sofa and a stool) and a bathroom with a shower. On the first floor there are two bedrooms (one with a double bed, the other with two single beds that can be put together) and a second bathroom with a shower.
There is a terrace in front of the house, and in the garden there is a hammock, a swing, garden furniture and a two-story treehouse. Don't let the name fool you, it will be perfect for older children and adults.
Our area is not fenced, so if you want to visit with your pets, please take this into account.
Everything in the kitchen depends on you. The kitchen is large and well-equipped, and you can enjoy meals not only inside, but also on the terrace and in the shade of the linden tree in the garden. We have wonderful neighbors here from whom you can order cheese, milk and eggs. You can buy vegetables from Mr. Jacek, who lives across the bridge. Just let us know that you are interested and we will share the details.
Nature is waiting for you here in the Wigry National Park! From the windows of the house you will be able to watch storks in the nest, meet rare bird species in the garden (it is good to use a bird atlas or an application to recognize them), and in the evenings watch a herd of deer passing through a nearby meadow on the way to the small, wild Kamionka river, which it flows behind the house and flows into Lake Pietry behind the bridge. Beavers live by the river.
You can reach the little-known Lake Petry in a 15-minute walk, passing a bridge and 3 houses along the way. There is a pier there that is sunny until 1 p.m. and a swimming area that is rarely visited by anyone. A kilometer away there is Lake Gałęziste. A walk to its clear waters takes about 45 minutes, and a bicycle trip about 20 minutes. It is small in size, but it can charm you. We like them for their shallow area near the shore.
Moving in the other direction from us, the road winding among the hills will take you to Stary Folwark, a town with a marina on Lake Wigry. There is a large beach and water equipment rental. We recommend you to jump in a kayak and go rafting down the Czarna Hańcza River. There are often hot tubs and saunas along the river that you can use. You can also sail down the Marycha River and some people think this is an even better option.
Following the path through the forest behind our house, you will reach Lake Czarne in Krzywy, where there are swimming areas with a fantastic pier, bike rental and a small bar.
The Wigry National Park is within easy reach, and there are hiking and cycling trails there. You can walk here as much as you want, through meadows, forests and villages. And if you take your bikes with you, know that in the area there are: the Podlasie Stork Trail, the Bicycle Ring of the Suwałki Region, the Euro Velo R-11 bicycle route and the more intimate Krzywe - Stary Folwark bicycle route. The park also houses the Wigry Museum, a narrow-gauge railway runs here, and in winter there are cross-country skiing trails.
You can also set off from Leszczewo:
– to Wigry (9 km) to see the Post-Camaldolese Monastery,
– to Suwałki (12 km) to visit the District Museum and the museum of Maria Konopnicka,
to Sejny (21 km) to visit the "Borderland - arts, cultures, nations" center (check the online calendar of events).
– to Druskininkai, a Lithuanian health resort on the Neman River (90 km).
What’s there for children?
Kids have fun here! Before we describe it in detail, we will start with important information: our terrace is 1 meter high at its highest point. It has steps and is surrounded by grass, but you will have to be careful with active toddlers. The linden tree house is intended for older children (and adults), because you enter it by climbing the tree and using ropes. It is not dedicated to children. For younger children, we have a large area, beautiful surroundings, lots of animals to observe (wild and those in the surrounding pastures) and animals that can be visited in the mini zoo in Mikołajcówka. You can go rafting as a family, rent a pedal boat and a kayak and explore the nearby lakes. The beaches above them are very child-friendly (due to the infrastructure or shallow, safe entrances to the water) and there is no shortage of attractions there. The youngest enjoy contact with nature, swings in the garden, and wandering around the neighborhood. Sometimes you don't need anything else to have fun and relax.
What’s there for employees?
The Internet is not bad here, you can work if you need to, and it's best to do it from the terrace, with a cup of coffee and a view of the greenery.
