You will find us where paradise is. Rajgród to be precise, because our wooden house is located in the village of that name, located on the eastern bay of Lake Rajgród, in the Rajgród Lake District. The oldest inhabitants call this place "hills". It looks like this: waves of landscape suddenly emerge from the pancake-flat fields. At the top of one of them, to provide a view of everything around, we built a wooden house. Designed to be pampered with the scent of jasmine in spring, the shade of the surrounding trees in the hottest weather, hydromassages in the tub at any time of the year, a common bonfire and the proximity of the lake, to which a path through fields and meadows will take you in less than 10 minutes. It's wild here and it broadcasts a nature program 24 hours a day, allowing you to watch moose walking, foxes running, hares hopping, and mountain goats nibbling leaves, all with a soundtrack prepared by birds. Sometimes we wonder if it could be even more charming here. And we think, probably not, we are in paradise after all.
The modern barn-type house is 70 m² and stands on a 1000-meter fenced plot. It is surrounded by fields and forests, and 350 meters from the beach and lake. The house can sleep 8 people, but you will feel most comfortable here in a group of six.
The ground floor consists of:
- a living room with a fireplace, a sofa bed and a large table,
- a bathroom with a shower,
- a well-equipped kitchenette.
The attic consists of three separate bedrooms with double beds. Each has air conditioning (which heats and cools) and a toilet. We have a home cinema set and WiFi for you.
Outside there is a terrace with a gas grill, a set of garden furniture, a hammock and a swing. On our large grounds there is a place for a bonfire and a wood-burning tub with a jacuzzi.
Just 10 minutes from our house there is a possibility of taking a sauna in a mobile sauna, in beautiful natural surroundings, right next to the Jegrznia River, near the Biebrza National Park or in the town of Czarna Wieś on Lake Rajgrodzkie.
There is a paradise here, or more precisely, Rajgród, a charming town in the Rajgród Lake District, on the border of the Warmian-Masurian and Podlaskie voivodeships, in the buffer zone of the Biebrza National Park. Wild nature awaits you here, which you can admire with a cup of coffee in your hands from the terrace (in the morning you can spot roe deer, deer and hares, and moose also live in the area).
The largest lake in our lake district is Lake Rajgrodzkie, from which we are 350 meters away (about a 10-minute walk along a path leading through fields and meadows. Lake Rajgrodzkie has a very characteristic shape. It consists of the main reservoir and four elongated arms (bays). In the north these are Lake Przepiórka (north-eastern) and Stackie (north-west), in the south it is called Zatoka Czarnowiejska, and the main reservoir and the eastern bay, on which Rajgród is located, is Lake Rajgrodzkie. There are several beaches on the lake, one of them is a seasonal pizzeria. You can rent water equipment at the lake and go kayaking.
You will also be close to the forest. To get to know the Biebrza National Park better, go to the Grzędy Field Educational Center (formerly the Grzędy forester's lodge), where there is a network of tourist trails and educational paths. With a bit of luck, you can spot moose feeding here, encounter a wolf's trail or see a lesser spotted eagle soaring in the sky. Very rare vegetation is also delightful (Lapland willow, round-leafed sundew, common shoewort). There are three educational paths running through the center: "Borek bartny", "Czerwone Bagno" and "Dunes". You can also observe animals staying at the Animal Rehabilitation Center (usually moose, roe deer and wild boars) and visit horses at the Konik Polski Conservation Breeding Center.
The yellow tourist trail leads from Rajgród to TOE Grzędy. It starts at Lake Rajgrodzkie, then leads next to Lake Dreństwo, then through the Rajgrodzkie forests, crosses the Jegrznia River, enters the borders of the BNP and ends at the forester's lodge. The route is 18.3 km long and can be cycled. There is also a red trail (from Rajgród to the junction of trails behind Dział Kumkowski), which can be cycled on the Rajgród-Nowy Świat section. Lovers of two wheels will be happy to know that the green trail R-11 EURO Velo and the Podlasie Bociani Trail also run in the area.
23 km from Rajgród there is Augustów, where you can drop by for dinner. And from Ełk, 35 km away, go on a boat trip.
A little further there are lakes: Serwy, Tobołowo, Blizno, Blizienko, Busznica, Studzieniczne and Białe. Next, the Augustowska Lock and the Augustowska Forest, with bicycle and walking paths. It is worth going for a walk along wolf tracks (the "Wolf Trail" path, which is one of the eight points of the "Wolf Trail") and visiting the educational paths of the Wigry National Park. You can also go rafting down the Czarna Hańcza, Marycha, Rospuda, or go to the Perkuć Nature Reserve and absorb chlorophyll there without limits. For those interested, a trip on the Wigry Narrow Gauge Railway.
Less than an hour away from Rajgród there is a year-round WOSiR-Szelment complex.
