In 1976 the Arrábida Natural Park was established in Portugal. This exceptional protected area can be found on the southernmost part of the Setúbal Peninsula. Imagine the white sand beaches, the turquoise waters of the Atlantic Ocean and the evergreen cliffs towering above the beaches... And perhaps slowly, with this vision, you begin to understand why is this area called the Costa Azul - the Blue Coast. In combination with the beauties of nature, you can also discover some special local gems: Moscatel wine and the famous Azeitão cheese made from sheep's milk. And all this is just an 45 minutes by car from Lisbon...
Near Sesimbra you can find our Horta's House. From here you can head in the direction that appeals to you the most: to the castle in Sesimbra, to explore Arrábida or towards one of the popular beaches. Come with your family or friends - we have place for six people. The whole house and garden will be yours and if you need any help, advice, feel free to approach us. We will be happy to welcome you.

HORTA´S HOUSE
The house is situated on a farm. The coordinates you find here will lead you to the farm entrance gate, which I will open for you. Beyond it, you will reach the house within few minutes.
There are also other houses on the farm besides Horta's house, but don't worry - everyone has plenty of privacy (you can't see others).

QUEIJO DE AZEITAO
Definitely try the Azeitao sheep's milk cheese... A local treasure you won't find anywhere else. And how best to enjoy it? They say to take it out of the fridge at least 10 minutes before you decide to have a taste. Cut it in half, let it breathe, and then just start enjoying it. Preferably with bread and local wine ;)
WINE TOURISM
Oh, wine! Have you heard about Costa Azul Wine Routes? It´s correspond to the wine region of Península de Setúbal. The Setubal Wine Route includes the villages of Palmela, Setúbal, Montijo, Alcácer do Sal and Grândola. Its headquarters, the Wine Route House is located in the Largo de S. João in Palmela.
The most grown grape variety is Castelão, commonly called Periquita and Muscatel variety.

- ARRÁBIDA NATURAL PARK - access to some areas is only possible with a guide authorised by the Park Headquarters
- OCEANOGRAPHIC MUSEUM - located in the Fort of Nossa Senhora da Arrábida, next to Portinho Beach
- PEDRA DA ANIXA - small islet that constitutes a zoological reserve due to its underwater vegetation
- SERRA DA RISCO - the highest point on the Portuguese mainland coast, with panoramic view of the Atlantic
- SESIMBRA BEACH - the nearest beach (10 minutes by car)
- COSTA AZUL WINE ROUTE - Península de Setúbal Wine, which takes you to the charming village of Azeitão, where you can enjoy some delicious cheeses

How do I get there?

Coming from Lisbon on the N378 - Arriving at the roundabout at Moagem de Sampaio; - Calculate 2.6 km, 3 minutes to the door of the property; - Take Avenida 25 Abril (N379) towards Azeitão; - Go straight over the roundabout and continue on the N379; - On the right you will see a sign indicating the passage of riders; - You are almost there, the gate will be a few metres on your left at the bend. When in the gate, you have to contact me so I can open it for you.

SECURITY
- We cannot be held responsible for injuries sustained during your stay or accidents in the grounds, garden or swimming pool. Beware of farm animals. Our neighbours' dogs are very friendly, but always make sure your child is safe.
Before you leave, make sure you do the following:
- Replace furniture (if it has been moved);
- Take out the rubbish - There is no rubbish collection service, so you have to dispose of your rubbish (on the way to Santana and Cotovia there are several recycling bins).
- Empty the fridge;
- Unmade beds and place all dirty clothes on the beds (NOT on the floor);
- Leave towels in the bathrooms (NOT on the floor);
- Load and run the dishwasher;
- Complete the check-out list with Teresa to assess any damage;
- It is essential to leave the house as you found it.
