In a picturesque village situated between Aarhus and Aalborg, by one of the deepest lakes in Denmark, you will find HUS 42. Here in Glenstrup, there are sacred springs, Viking pilgrimage sites, one of the oldest churches in Denmark, and runestones. The village boasts a rich history and a friendly local community. The house itself also has an intriguing past. Built in 1931, it served as the residence of a farmer working for a large landowner whose estate is nearby. When I encountered it, the house had been empty for 10 years. It was neglected and in desperate need of attention. Its transformation took five years, during which I came to understand the stories embedded in its walls and envision their future. This was more than just a renovation.
HUS 42 is a blend of historical elements and contemporary design, filled with natural materials and colours. It is a space where it is easy to connect with the nature outside, slow down, and reflect. The surrounding countryside is magnificent. On a walk towards the lake, you may encounter cows, sheep, deer, hares, and pheasants. You will also meet friendly Danes. Nearby, there is a fjord and a beautiful sandy beach. I invite you to embrace relaxation, find peace, and escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Hi! I’m Kuba, an architect, the founder of Studio Onu, and a photographer. Born in Poland, I embarked on a voyage at eighteen that continues to this day. Travelling the world, I developed a deep respect for history, learning from various cultures and traditions in the places I've lived. I'm fascinated by how new architecture can revive the past.
The decision to buy HUS 42 was intuitive and instinctive. It stood empty for over ten years, begging for some love and attention. Built in 1931, it served as the residence of a farmer working for a major landowner whose estate is the neighbouring property. Bringing HUS 42 to its current state took five years. Understanding the stories inscribed in its walls and envisioning their future was more than just a renovation. Building relationships with neighbours, who quickly became dear friends, influenced what HUS 42 has become. These neighbours guided the process by sharing their regional knowledge and inviting us into their homes, informing how Studio Onu approached the project.
My partner Ewa, born in Poland as well, works as a holistic coach combining her experience in design and brand building with body, voice and energy work helping people live and create business more consciously, healthily and purposefully.
If you meet her there, she’ll be more than happy to share her knowledge in holistic health, take you on mindful walks, or host a class where you can relax and awaken your body, voice and senses to immerse yourself even more in this beautiful environment and come back home truly recharged and inspired.
Together, by combining design sensitivity with a passion for conscious living, we have created a space where you get to experience this unique blend of architecture, history, and holistic wellness that rejuvenates the body and mind.
We look forward to welcoming you to our home, where every corner has a story and every moment is an opportunity for growth and connection.
