When you first come across our little corner of the Dzierzgoń-Morąg Lakeland, you will be overcome by silence. So profound that on a windless day you can hear bees working in your neighbour's hives over 200 metres away. But we are talking about bees here, and you are probably wondering where our little corner of the lakeland is, the name of which few have heard. We will tell you now. Look for the lakeland on the map between Malbork and Miłomłyn, and we are a few kilometres west of the latter. This is the northern part of the Iława Lakeland, which boasts a wealth of 75 lakes. The closest to us is the one called Kocioł, and even closer to the Iława Channel. A little further away, in a village called Dębinka, we have built a red house with white details, which resembles the one on the children's cards from Bullerbyn. It was built to bring back for a moment the world of children's carefreeness and wild joy from holidays in the countryside. To run barefoot on the grass and ride to the lake on a two-wheeler. Four bikes waiting on site allow you to make this scenario a reality. And two kayaks can provide you with even more adventures. There is an idyllic atmosphere here, which will appeal to those who love nature and want to spend a lazy vacation. The kind where breakfasts are eaten for a long time, buns are baked from seasonal fruit, walks at will and without purpose, and morning, afternoon and evening lake baths.
Here is our Bullerbyn, a cottage for 4-6 people created to make you feel carefree.
On 84 m² you will find:
- two bedrooms upstairs (one with a double bed, the other with two single beds) and a toilet,
- downstairs a living room with a fireplace and a sofa bed (additional sleeping space) connected to the kitchen and dining room and a bathroom with a shower and washing machine.
The house is heated by a fireplace - a stove, we also have two portable electric heaters and air conditioning. The water is heated in a boiler.
At your disposal on site are: two kayaks and four bicycles. We also have a large parking lot and a garden shelter.
Our kitchen is fully equipped with an oven, electric stovetop, dishwasher, capsule coffee machine, electric kettle, and refrigerator.
You can buy honey from a neighbor, and order fresh eggs from Ania a few doors down (subject to availability). In Miłomłyn, there are two stands selling fresh vegetables and fruit, and a shop selling cold cuts from a local company with the "Warmia and Mazury Heritage" badge.
There is an idyllic atmosphere here, which will appeal to those who love nature and want to spend a lazy holiday. It will also be good for lovers of bicycles and kayaks, two kayaks and four bicycles are waiting on site.
The Iława Canal flows near the cottage, on the waters of which sailboats often appear. On its shores you can sit down and reflect.
The closest to us is Lake Kocioł, on the eastern shore of which is the village of Karnity. On the beach by the castle, or more precisely the palace and park complex from the 19th century, there are attractions for children and adults, mini-golf and a menagerie. Other larger beaches are: the municipal beach in Miłomłyn, the municipal beach in Ostróda, the beach by Lake Szeląg Wielki and the beach on the island on Lake Drwęckie, which can be reached by boat or kayak.
The blue bicycle trail of regional scope, which leads from Zalewo to Iława (and runs through Debinka), is perfect for cycling.
There are many trails in the area leading through forests and lakes, perfect for walking, running or cycling. For example, we recommend a walk through the Lake Iłgi reserve, where you can meet flycatchers, wood pigeons, tawny owls, and kingfishers. For a slightly longer trip, we recommend the Jasne nature reserve, which includes forests by the lake of the same name (which, by the way, comes from the clarity of the water). Next to it is also the smaller Lake Czarne, which in turn owes its color to the very lush life of underwater fauna and flora. There is also the Taborskie Sosny nature reserve, where several hundred-year-old pines grow, reaching up to 30-40 meters in height. For shipbuilders, they were an exceptional material for building, among other things, masts of sailing ships.
Here is a small list of places in the area that you can visit:
- the ruins of the castle in Szymbark (43 km from us),
- Jerzwałd (25 km), the place where Zbigniew Nienacki, the author of the series about Pan Samochodzik, created, where you can walk in the author's footsteps and visit the nature education center (great for children),
- Miłomłyn - a town located on the Elbląg Canal route, where there is a chamber lock,
- the Vistula Lagoon,
- Stegna (you can reach the sea in an hour),
- Olsztynek (with an open-air museum and blueberry buns from the Jagodzianka confectionery in season),
- Frombork and Olsztyn,
- the Ostoja beaver nature reserve on the Pasłęka River,
- the sanctuary in Gietrzwałd,
- the battlefields of Grunwald,
- Ostróda with a very pleasant promenade by Lake Drwęckie.
In Ostróda you can also rent a kayak, SUP board or boat. The Drwęca River flows through Ostróda - perfect for kayaking and very unique, because it is a nature reserve along its entire length (the only river in Poland). The Drwęca is considered one of the most beautiful kayaking routes.
The Miłomłyn commune, where we are located, has the status of a health resort - you will be delighted by the purity of the local air. In Miłomłyn itself you can visit a salt graduation tower.
What awaits children here? Close contact with nature, running barefoot on the grass, and also a trip to the nearby Kocioł lake at Karnity Castle where you can swim, slide, play mini-golf, and also watch some animals. At home we have board games, blocks and crayons.
Each bedroom has a desk, internet, coffee maker and air conditioning for when you need to concentrate on hot days. Then, a walk around the area or a swim in the lake is a great break.
