This time, don't head south to the Czech Republic. Go to the Wild East. Here lies the village of Czechy Orlańskie, which according to historical records already existed in the 16th century. Orlańskie because the village belongs to the Orla commune, unlike Czech Zabłotne, which is also in Podlasie. If you have read Anna Romaniuk's reportage "Orzeszkowo 14", you should know that it is only 15 minutes from here. As the publisher quotes, it was written in 1639 that the forest "begins from the village of Orzeszkowa". You will therefore have a stone's throw to the Białowieża Forest, as well as to other important points of Podlasie. We invite you on a journey through a region full of attractions: let yourself be seduced by traditional wooden architecture, Orthodox culture, festivals and cuisine, picturesque hiking and cycling paths. Shopping:
A car with basic food products comes to the village twice a week, but for larger purchases you have to go to Hajnówka. Depending on your preferences, you can shop at chain stores such as Biedronka, Kaufland, Lidl or Arhelan, but we also recommend the company store of the Dairy Cooperative in Hajnówka at ul. Batorego 1, the Podolszyński Bakery at ul. Białowieska 35, on Wednesdays and Saturdays there is a market at ul. 3 Maja with products brought by local farmers, you can also use the suggestions on the Podlaskie Centrum Produktu Lokalnego website.
If you don’t feel like cooking, we recommend the Niezapominajka restaurant in Hajnówka, Fanaberia in Białowieża or, a little further away, Bojarski Gościniec in Narewka, we use these places ourselves.
