Our wooden house was and is beautiful. And perhaps, when you see it today, you will find it hard to believe that it has been standing here since 1913. It even once served as a backdrop for the recording of the still black-and-white film Wooden Bread. It has been through a lot: there was a school, a shop, a cultural center where a theater was performed and, for the last 50 years, a well-known pub. Just go to our stone cellar, which was once used as a beer keg cooler. In winter, ice from the stream was added to them, and it was able to maintain the ideal temperature of the beer until autumn. And we can tell you that the winter here is not just any kind... During the reconstruction of the wooden house, we slept in tents in the attic and even in April we had minuscule mornings here...

But it's not just about beer and winter here. Veľké Borové also became famous for its glass smelters. In the past, sheet glass was produced here, which the local glassmakers carried around the whole area on their backs. Today, we ourselves deal with stained glass, and through some of the stained glass windows you can look at the outside world. Or, thanks to the location of the wooden house in the heights, also for the belling sheep on the hills or the beautiful morning inversions in the valley. From the terrace or even from bed.

After we took over this beautiful and old wooden house, we set about fully renovating it. And so the more than 100-year-old wooden house underwent a complete renovation, from the foundations to the attic, where we pitched tents and slept there during the renovation.

Here you will find authentic elements such as exposed beams or stained glass windows. We invite you to the cozy premises of our wooden house to relax...

WOODEN HOUSE FOR 11 PEOPLE
- the wooden house accommodates 11 people and we rent it as a whole
- it is divided into two apartments so that everyone has enough privacy and their own space
- the apartments have a common entrance
- Apartment 1 has: 3 bedrooms for 6 people; bathroom with steam and infrared sauna with color therapy; large kitchen with living room (common room)
- Apartment 2 has: 1 separate and 1 connecting bedroom for 4 people; a smaller kitchen with a dining area for 5 people; the bathroom
- for both apartments there is a large common kitchen in the larger apartment, which also serves as a social space - here you will also find a large table for 6-10 people, a corner sofa and an electric fireplace

TERRACE & STONE CELLAR
- a large garden
- terrace (35 m2) with a view of the valley and covered seating under the terrace in case of rain or a desire for coolness
- bandit kitchen with grill, stew pot and roasting sticks
- stone cellar with seating  

 

We prefer to relax on the terrace. And in autumn, when inversions begin to occur, especially. Here, we can sit on the terrace in the sun in a T-shirt, and it's dark and cold below under the clouds.

- walk to Gruň
- go see the Tree of the Year 2004 at the foot of Súšava hill - estimated age is 250 to 350 years, circumference at a height of 130 cm reaches 460 cm.
- bell tower above Veľký Borový - only 30 minutes will separate you from the brick lookout tower with a wooden superstructure. The wooden staircase takes you up to a height of 7 meters, from where you can enjoy beautiful views of the surroundings.
- the Svorad plateau – on the northern border of the Chočské vrchy mountains, discover a vast plateau and go for a wander along one of the many hiking trails.
- Prosiecka dolina - Veľký okruh - ladders leading up the rocks, karst formations, rich fauna and flora, educational trail
- Kvačianska valley and Oblazy water mills
- Roháče and Roháčska dolina (Zuberec)

In the winter months, you can explore the slopes of several ski areas: Zuberec Janovky, Zverovka - Spálená dolina, or Podbiel.

We have a Children's Kingdom for them... in the form of a wooden climbing frame with a slide and a climbing wall, a swing and surprises. 
For the smallest guest, we are happy to make a cot and add a children's dining chair.
