It was 1900, when Alojz Atkáry came from Serbia, from the city of Vršac to Kremnica. A trained confectioner who carried this craft with him not only as a heritage in his DNA, but perhaps also as sugar flowing in his veins. And he settled down in golden Kremnica and got married. He used to live here, in this house, where today we have 5 spacious apartments. Here he also had his art workshop... well, a pastry shop. And just so you know, you can also find the original oven in which he baked his goodies here... From here, Mr. Atkáry (it's just that it's hard to tell whether it's the senior Alojz or the junior Elemír) became famous throughout the Austro-Hungarian monarchy for his sweet Kremnica potatoes.
We invite you here to a slightly different story, which started to be written by us. We bought the house from the original owner and the three-year painstaking renovation journey began before us. As is sometimes the case, you are looking for options. Even those from the state, which we eventually abandoned due to bureaucracy and the deplorable condition of the building. But that doesn't mean we gave up and left it here to fate. On the contrary. We fixed the state of emergency of one of the vaults, a collapsed ceiling, a collapsed roof, leaks, forged baroque doors, stone portals... Step by step, we solved the plastering and preservation of the original elements and headed towards our dream goal. Today, 5 apartments are hidden behind the walls of the national cultural monument, where you can find your refuge for exploring the extraordinary mining town... And on the ground floor, try fries from the best confectioner in the world, Mirka, or treat yourself to lunch in the incitebistro.
Here Slowhop will describe your place

Petra
In a picturesque town with a history of mining, you can relax within the walls of the National Cultural Monument and the former ancient confectionery, right in the center. The house, built during the 17th century, has been sensitively reconstructed with an emphasis on the barrel vault, creating a unique architectural character. Generously designed apartments provide guests with an ideal space for regeneration and recharging energy. The original baroque wooden ceiling has been restored in the living areas. The view from the windows provides a beautiful view of the city gate with the historic sub-castle and the pedestrian zone.
You can edit your name and photo in your settings.
Behind the walls of the house from the 17th century, there are 5 spacious apartments on the first floor, which can accommodate a family of 4. Choose which one you like...
APARTMENTS ON THE FLOOR
The apartments can accommodate from 2 to 4 people, and you will also find maisonettes among them... But in order...
Each apartment has: a functional kitchen equipped with everything you need (only apartment no. 5 has a large electric oven), a bathroom with a shower and a bedroom (possibly two).
Apartments 1 and 3 have a restored original wooden ceiling from 1775.
Apartment 2 is in the newly built part.
Apartments 4 and 5 are maisonettes (apartment 5 has 2 bedrooms).
Apartment 4 has an exit directly to the terrace, where you can think about how to spend the day.
We also have a dedicated storage space on the ground floor where you can store your cross-country skis in the winter :)
ORIGINAL ELEMENTS & DISCOVERY OF A MINE SHAFT
During the reconstruction work, we found a lot of hidden gems here, and those that could be saved, we saved (e.g. barrel vaults, wrought iron doors, wooden trusses, stone portals, ...). A surprise for us was the discovery of a mine shaft in the basement. We will be happy to show it to you :)
MALINOVÁ PANI CONFECTIONERY & :INCITEBISTRO ON THE GROUND FLOOR
If you like to sweeten your life with a good piece of cake, you've won bingo with us!
On the ground floor of the Barbican, you will undoubtedly be delighted by the Malinová pani pastry shop. You can order a sweet dessert and coffee not only there, but also directly to the apartment. And you know what else? You can enjoy this on a traditional Kremnica delicacy - Kremnica fries. The owner Mirka bakes everything with love...
During the weekends, you can run down to the ground floor in your slippers and enjoy breakfast right in the building.
In :incitebistro they will be happy to serve you and you can stay even for lunch :)

So, since we have already mentioned the Kremnica krumples, we consider it a sacred duty to explain to all palates what it is all about. Sponge cakes hollowed out in the middle filled with vanilla and cocoa filling, covered in nut mass and cocoa... Do you already know what to have with your coffee?
And you can taste them directly from Mirka from Malinová pana, or will you be tempted by the art deco look at Atkáry's confectionery? We would definitely taste everywhere...

KREMNICA MINT
- the oldest still existing mint in the world
- it has been operating since 1328 and its famous gold ducat-floren was also minted here. In total, over 21.5 million pieces were minted here (at today's gold price, the value of florins would exceed one billion euros).
- do not hesitate and order in advance the option of a tour, where you will learn a lot of interesting things and see many rarities.
CITY CASTLE IN KREMNICA
You know what's interesting? The entire area of the city castle, buildings, defensive bastions - none of it was built by any monarch or feudal lord. The construction as well as the financing of the defense of their city were exclusively in the hands of the townspeople and they were also its owners.
Check out the exhibits in the museum and be sure to plan evening tours during the summer, where you will learn a lot of interesting stories from the lives of real people who once lived and worked here.
Once you're at the castle, head up the spiral stone stairs to the top of the renovated lookout tower of the Church of St. Kataríny with the most beautiful view of the city and its surroundings, or go to the ossuary.
Next:
- museums
- festivals and various events (e.g. organ music, Kremnica lace, Kremnica musical summer, Kremnica guild feasts, Kremnica wine festival, Kremnica gags, etc.)
- treat yourself to an unusual journey through the history of Kremnice, where you will also get to the underground of Kremnice square and where at the end you will taste Kremnice krumples in the restored and period-furnished Atkáry confectionery
- go to the Acropolis Kremnica cinema
- for a walk in the Zechenter garden
WINTER
For cross-country skiing and cross-country trails, definitely head to Skalka, where they also organize evening cross-country skiing under the stars (there is a fee for using the tracks; you can rent bicycles and cross-country skis at Cyklo-Sante Kremnica)
- for downhill skiing, we recommend Ski Krahule, Králiky
- when it freezes well and for a long time, it is worth admiring the icefall on Skalka
NOT ONLY IN SUMMER
- let your adrenaline flow on Via ferrata Skalka
- treat yourself to rest for your body in the Sklené Teplice thermal baths or in the Skalka relaxation center
- Get to know the Badín forest by walking along the nature trail
- behind the mysterious runes on Velstúr
