Šumava is my second home. I have been spending every free moment here since childhood, and I still escape here from the hustle and bustle of Prague. For as long as I can remember, there was a large, abandoned and dilapidated house next to my parents' cottage. Years passed, its owners changed like socks, but none showed a real interest in saving it. And when it dragged on for years and there was a threat that we would have insensitive creatures as neighbors who would destroy the house, we decided to buy it. All this happened fifteen years ago... I was pregnant then, we were building our own house and there were a lot of responsibilities. That is also why we decided to postpone the reconstruction of the house in Hodnov in Šumava and let it bloom in our minds like the flowers that grow in his garden today.

That time came two years ago, when we fully started the reconstruction. We tried to approach the house, its story and the legacy of our ancestors as sensitively as possible. We have combined the old and the modern with love and courage. We saved what could be saved, and we finished the rest with love. Today, 4 spacious apartments for couples and families are hidden behind the walls of Hodnova 17. One where you will immediately feel at home. Where you take a deep breath and exhale all the nonsense.

4 APARTMENTS OR THE WHOLE HOUSE
The house was once a blacksmith shop, later a fire station, and in "more recent times" there was also a pub. When we started the renovation, the house was without electricity and water. We also had to remove all the insensitive modifications left by the previous owners, we decided to create a replica of the old door to the fire station and we also set about building a concrete staircase. We excavated the original granite half a meter below ground level and reused it in front of the house. And we also did a white line paint on the facade under the cornices - just like it used to be. We boldly but lovingly combined the old and the modern. So come and see how it all looks now! 

OTICE (max. 5 persons) - with an approved wooden ceiling 
- one separate bedroom, living room (sofa sofa) connected to the kitchen, bathroom (possibility of 1 extra bed)

FORGE (max. 6 people)
- with beautiful brick vaults and a cellar from the original blacksmith's workshop
- spacious apartment on the ground floor of the house with direct access to the garden, 2 separate bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and an equipped kitchen (possibility of 2 extra beds)

CHURCH (max. 2 people)
- with a view of the linden tree and the church 
- double bed, kitchenette with dining table, bathroom

OLŠINA (max. 8 people)
- maisonette apartment with a spacious attic and a view of the Olšina pond 
- on the open ground floor there is a kitchen with a dining table, a double bed and a sofa bed. Upstairs in the attic is a separate bedroom for two people (possibility of 2 extra beds).

You can rent a separate apartment or, as a larger group, the entire house (19- max. 21 people). 

Each apartment has its own fully equipped kitchen. 

In the vicinity of Hodňov, you will find quite a lot to reset... So for a start, it may be enough to go out to the meadows, fields, forests, for a walk and wander. And then depending on what attracts you and what time of year brought you to Šumava... It is beautiful in every season.  

Olšina and Lipno ponds are located nearby. You can wander here on foot or by bike. When the snow falls, you can go cross-country skiing right outside the door. The Lipno-Kramolín and Hochficht ski resorts (in Austria) and the Schöneben cross-country skiing area are also within easy reach. You can also visit defunct villages in the surrounding countryside.

A few tips:
- you can also go to the village of Horná Planá near the Lipno dam, where the birthplace and regional museum of the writer Adalbert Stifter are located (here you will also find the Stifter Trail - green tourist sign and Forest Park)
- Square in Horná Plané with the oldest houses around 600 years old
- Forest park and lookout tower on Dobrá Voda
- Alpine lookout - do you want to see the Alps in good weather? So hop to the viewpoint at the waterworks from the first republic in the southeast direction in Horná Planá
- Schwarzenberg canal (technical monument)
- Taper Chapel
- Nové údolí and from there to Lake Plešné, at the Trojmezi - the meeting point of the borders of three states (Czech Republic, Austria, Germany) or to the neighboring Bavarian town of Borská Mlýny (Haidmühle), which is approx. 1 km from Nové Údolí
- in the premises of the Pošumavské železnik, you will also find three historic railway wagons, in which you will find other interesting things - for example, a museum of railways with a unique set of period photographs
- or you can go all the way to Český Krumlov

The Pošumavská Southern Railway is probably the shortest international railway in the world. During the tourist season, you can take a ride on this railway in a replica steam locomotive, a pedal train and receive a commemorative ticket (Šumavské summer with steam in Volarsk).
And those children who want can have fun completing the tasks of the Railway Leprechaun Exam or send a view from the fairy post office.
