If you would like to be transported from everyday life full of hustle and stress to a fairy tale, we will send you to our hostess Dora in Šumava. She is the mistress of an old stone farmhouse from 1281. Forget about the asphalt road that would lead you here. It will rather shake you a little on the dirt road and you may feel for a moment that you have lost your way...
Until the moment when you see white walls peeking out in the distance through the surrounding greenery and cherry orchard. A little further on, two ancient, massive linden trees with a historical cross will lead you to a wooden gate. And not even what we write will prepare you for THAT moment when you enter the courtyard of the farmhouse through this gate...
The atmosphere and magic will "chirp in your nose", cause a small mental earthquake and finally gently caress and welcome you. With its beautiful surrounding stone walls. Wooden galleries, remnants of the original walls. Lots of stones and pebbles, from which the farm was carefully built over centuries, an old stone granary with rooms, romantic corners... Add a stream, a pond, a forest... And somewhere in between, intertwined and discreetly hidden art that enhances the beauty of the farm.
We will say only this much: choose one of the four rooms with high original ceilings, sit on the balcony and let yourself be enchanted... by the surrounding Šumava nature, the silence, the real starry sky. The soul of this unique place.
FARMHOUSE
A farmhouse from 1281 in the Šumava Mountains, in the middle of "nowhere", entered my life fully in 2010, when I packed up all my belongings, the children and myself, and moved here. Since then, we have been living our everyday lives in Krakovice. We are slowly saving its original self so that its unique charm can fully manifest itself.
ROOMS
Four renovated rooms await you in a former stone granary with a private entrance from a wooden gallery with a small seating area and a view of the courtyard.
All of them will amaze you with their high ceilings and historic trusses at a height of 5 meters, from where you can see all the way to the top of the roof.
- each room has its own bathroom with toilet and shower, table with chairs, small refrigerator, chest of drawers
- there is also a common room with a kitchenette
Firstborn ONE (3+1)
The skylight provides a view of the Šumava sky and stars.
The room has a table with seating, an electric kettle and a small refrigerator.
Artistic TWO (3+1)
Its greatest decoration is hand-painted copies of paintings by the Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh and a folded ceramic mosaic in the shower.
Romantic THREE (2)
A single room for a couple only. Here you will find a double bed, a table with chairs, a refrigerator, a chest of drawers.
The largest FOUR (3+1)
It is the largest, most comfortable of all the rooms and its pride is its own small kitchenette with a dining table (stove, sink, dishes, refrigerator and kettle).
COMMON ROOM
Located in the original part of the farmhouse, it has a beautiful stone vaulted ceiling and includes a fully equipped kitchen with a double hob, kettle, espresso machine, instant coffee machine and microwave. The room is for everyone to use, you can cook, fry, heat or just sit with a cup of coffee according to your taste.
Wifi is only available in this room.
Not far from Kraków Farm is the small town of Kaplice. There you will find restaurants and cafes where you can stop by for delicious breakfasts, lunches and dinners :)
LOCAL PRODUCTS a´la STOCK OF THE MORNING BAŠTA
We are happy to feed you well. That is why we have sought out the best local producers and prepared a basket full of goodies for you. So let us know at least 14 days before your arrival that you are in the mood for these goodies, and we will arrange everything.
And who helps us satisfy your tummies?
For example, the Mláka mini dairy, which produces delicious milk, yogurts and cheeses, the nearby Ideal coffee roaster with pleasant owners and a café in Krumlov or other producers of homemade jams, beekeepers and so on...
On the day of your arrival, we will prepare the best goodies that we have found or made ourselves in your room. We have 2 sizes to choose from and the choice is yours (Maxi and Mini).
Breakfast bastion maxi:
2 liters of milk, 6 white yogurts 150g, 1x farm cottage cheese 250g, 1x sour cream 500ml, fresh cheese/Třeboňská cihla according to the offer 160 - 240g, farm butter 250g (mini dairy Mláka/farm Němcovi), homemade honey 300g, handmade jam 220-280g (various seasonal types), homemade Krakovický cake whole (at least 900g, various types - either slices, or fruit cake, or sponge cake...), ground coffee from the Krumlov roastery 150g, loose herbal tea 50g and of course a good loaf of handmade bread.
Breakfast bastion mini:
1 liter of milk, 4 white yogurts 150g, fresh cheese/Třeboňská cihla according to the offer 160 - 240g, farmer's butter 250g, (mini dairy Mláka/farma Němcovi), homemade honey 300g, ground coffee from Krumlov roastery 75g, loose herbal tea 50g and of course a good loaf of handmade bread.
WHAT ELSE CAN YOU TASTE?
You can also go to the surrounding area - for example to the nearby town of Kaplice (about 5 km), where we recommend the Pučegl bistro. You can also drive to Český Krumlov (about 15 km) or walk to the pub in Omlenička "U železného dědka", which is really close to us.
The forest behind you, sitting with a book in the yard or by the water, walks and hikes, mushroom picking, cycling, trips, sights in the vicinity, cross-country skiing, sledding, building a snowman... and many other things you can experience in Krakovica :)
On our farm you will find many romantic corners - and it doesn't matter whether you enjoy them alone in your own company or as a couple. The stream and pond will tempt you to take walks and the fireplace to sit in the evening. Ancient lime trees will help you to meditate, under which you can sit on a bench with a view of the surrounding landscape or have a picnic under the cherry trees in the orchard...
The farm is full of places to discover and relax.
