At a glance
It's summer noon, at the end of the world, by the Pisa River. In Podlasie, with one foot wading into Masuria. Because the Masurian lakes are about 30 minutes away. That's where my home is. You'd think there'd be nothing to do here, but after visiting so many corners of the world, this is where I return most often. To a house smelling of wood, with a crackling fireplace, to the veranda where coffee tastes delicious, to the comfortable sofa – to read.
When I come here, my nervous system rests. I slow down too. I have time for a morning walk. After returning, it's time for breakfast, which I eat in the dining room or in the gazebo overlooking the river. The day's plan takes shape slowly – depending on the season and the weather. When the heat pours down, I jump over the fence to swim in the river or take friends on a kayaking trip. In winter, we light huge bonfires, gather for sleigh rides, and walk through the forest. Autumn means mushrooms, golden sunsets, and long hikes with the dog. That means lots of time outdoors and lots of time on comfortable couches. That's how life should be!
