Those who say that the heart of the house is the kitchen are not lying. Ours used to be a farmstead, which is why it has so much space. But since we covered it with hand-painted, green tiles from Wiktor Polak's tile factory, which has been operating since 1931, it has become a place for the most joyful and warmest family meetings. We decided that such noble tiles would be a good complement to the traditional Spisz cottage from 1911. It was this cottage that fulfilled our dream of our own house in the mountains - one we had been looking for for years. And when we got to know the area and its surroundings, we could no longer imagine choosing any other place. Over the last 10 years, we have managed to create a cosy atmosphere in this traditional Spisz cottage, which combines the traditions of the region with modernity and comfort. We did not design the house for rent: we made sure that it would please our family and friends. We did not change the layout of the cottage, but we stuck to the traditional one - that is why the rooms on the ground floor and first floor are walk-through. There is a family, warming and casual atmosphere here. And although the mountain trails are calling and there is no end to skiing on the nearby slopes, you can just as easily catch the sun on the porch, warm your feet by the fireplace and think about how life was here 115 years ago.
The house has 2 levels. The ground floor consists of a kitchen with a dining room and 3 rooms and a bathroom. The rooms on the ground floor are walk-through and each has 1 sofa bed, where 2 people can sleep. 1 of them also serves as a living room. The house will not be a good choice for a group of couples looking for intimacy, but for a larger family with children it will be.
The first floor has 2 bedrooms and a bathroom.
The rooms are walk-through because the house has the layout of a traditional Spiš cottage.
Next to the house there is a grocery store run by Mrs. Zosia, our neighbor, where you can stock up on essential food and industrial products. There are many catering outlets in the area, especially in nearby tourist towns such as Białka Tatrzańska, Bukowina Tatrzańska. We recommend the Bury Miś restaurant in the lower part of Bukowina Tatrzańska and the Schronisko Smaków in the upper part of Bukowina.
Łapszanka is a village in a valley stretching from Łapsze Wyżne to Przełęcz nad Łapszańskich. Our house is located halfway through the village, surrounded by nearby mountains, which you can go on trips to.
There are many tourist attractions nearby, available in the summer (bicycle trails, rope parks, trips to the Pieniny and Tatras, rafting on the Dunajec River and many others) and in the winter (nearby ski slopes, both in Poland and Slovakia, thermal pools in Białka Tatrzańska, Bukowina, Poprad in Slovakia).
