Hello! They say that whoever has sheep, has what they want. And we have over 500 sheep of the traditional Cakle breed, so we share this goodness. We also have several dozen cows, goats and several shepherd dogs. As befits shepherds! Because for years we have been cultivating traditional shepherding, such as with a free herd and a juhas, we create oscypek, bundz or żentyca, just like 500 years ago, and we share knowledge about the culture and folk of the Żywiec Beskids. Father Józef Tischner used to say that "there you have to bloom, ka grows", and we are from here and we want to develop this region. So we created the Górom Foundation, we save old cottages from oblivion, organize sheep therapy, cheese-making, shepherding, nature, herbal, tissue paper workshops and many other activities. We celebrate redyk, the Dziewięćsił Festival and invite folk bands to our settlement. There is always something going on here, and a new chapter is the cottage on Polana Wspólna.
The cottage is located directly on the red hiking trail, which is part of the Main Beskid Trail - the longest mountain route in Poland. This means that you will not have any neighbors, except for wild animals. But you cannot get here directly by car. You have to leave it at the parking lot 3.5 km below and decide what to do next. Do you walk to the cottage along the picturesque route or use our help to transport you to the cottage? This one has been here for over a hundred years, and we only saved it from ruin and now we are giving it to you. It has a view of Romanka, Rysianka, Przełęcz Babosia. It also has a great terrace, bathroom with shower, kitchen, sofa by the fireplace and two beds on the mezzanine. You can set off straight from the cottage, e.g. to the shelters on Hala Boracza, and go sledding behind the cottage. Beautiful pytomy!
In the bedroom on the mezzanine, you will find a comfortable double bed and a single bed – ideal for a couple, a family with a child or three friends. In the living room, you will find a sofa that turns into an additional place to sleep. There is a fireplace, a wooden table and a kitchen. It is fully equipped, with a fridge, induction hob and kettle, so you can cook your favorite dishes without any problems. A bathroom with a shower? Of course, with fragrant towels for good measure.
The cottage is intimate, for 3 to a maximum of 4 people, but the space has been planned so that everyone has their own little bit of privacy. We are not in a hurry here, but we have a soothing view, closeness to nature and warmth that you can feel not only from the fireplace.
Who comes? Those who want to relax, immerse themselves in silence and feel that you can escape from everyday life for a moment. But also those who are drawn to the mountains – to the trails, meadows and forest paths, to return tired, happy and with tea in hand to sit by the fire again.
You can reach the cottage on foot along a hiking trail or use the transfer of guests from the monitored car park (3.5 km), additional fee: one transport PLN 50.
You can get there by your own car (equipped with 4x4 drive) only in the April-October season.
Although in our cottage you cook at your own pace and according to your own tastes, it is worth going out for something delicious in the area sometimes. For those hungry for excitement (and good food!) we have:
- Sheep cheese from our Sopki Stopki shepherd's hut (seasonal) - if you fancy a real taste of the mountains, be sure to try fresh oscypek and bundz. You can buy them straight from the shepherd's hut, smelling of smoke and mountain meadows. We also always warmly recommend our drink of the gods, i.e. żętyca.
- Karczma Pod Baranią - homemade flavors, filling portions and an atmosphere of highlander hospitality. The perfect place for kwaśnica and roasted ribs.
- PINTA Beskidy & PRAWDA Restaurant - for lovers of craft beer and cuisine inspired by local ingredients. Try the local burger and one of PINTA's beer classics.
- "Szelągówka" Inn - wooden interior, the smell of fire from the fireplace and traditional Beskid cuisine.
Smak i Wino Restaurant - an elegant place for an evening for two. The wine list is impressive, and in the menu you will find both regional flavors and modern accents.
The cottage is located in the Żywiec Beskids, in the town of Cięcina, directly on the red trail, which is part of the Main Beskid Trail - the longest mountain route in Poland. You can set off on mountain hikes right from the cottage - the Shelter on Hala Boracza (4.5 km), Rysianka (8.8 km) and Lipowska (9.6 km) are almost at your fingertips.
There is no room for boredom here! Right next to it are the Abrahamów and Słowianka tourist stations, ideal for shorter and longer walks. Cyclists will appreciate the picturesque Velo Soła route, and on warmer days it is worth jumping into the water at Lake Żywieckie.
If you dream of contact with nature, try horse riding at the nearby "Stajnia W Górach" stable or visit our "Sopki Stopki" shepherd's hut, where in the season you can try fresh sheep cheese. In our settlement we organize concerts, exhibitions, and author meetings. In spring and autumn, there is a ceremonial redyk, we take part in the Czyste Beskidy Festival and the Dziewięćsił Festival. And this is just the beginning of our foundation activities.
We also run workshops, to which we cordially invite you:
- shepherding workshops
- cheese-making workshops
- workshops on felting sheep from sheep's wool
- workshops on painting ethnic patterns
- folk instrument shows
- and many other attractions.
In winter, the slopes in Cisiec, Korbielów and Zwardoń await you, and right next to the cottage - a perfect hill for sledding and winter fun. If you prefer a slower pace, visit the Żywiec Brewery Museum or the Żywiec City Museum - Old Castle and end the day with a walk in the charming Żywiec Park.
The terrace of the cottage overlooks the mountains, and the forest around provides silence, privacy and plenty of oxygen. You can lie in a hammock, light a bonfire, listen to the birds or simply do nothing. No matter the season, you will always find something for yourself here.
What’s there for children?
We don't have a plastic playground with a slide - instead we have a forest, space and nature that stimulate the imagination and allow children to create their own adventures. Stones become treasures, sticks become swords and bushes become secret bases. With us, children play exactly as they used to - with creative freedom and endlessly.
In the cottage you will find board games and children's books, ideal for quieter evenings. And if you prefer outdoor activities, the nearby forest paths encourage joint adventures and discovering nature.
In winter, you can go sledding right behind the cottage, because there is usually no shortage of snow, we have it up to our armpits.
Be sure to take your children to our sheepfold and our farm. You can see tiny sheep and adult sheep here, and even sign up for shepherding workshops. In spring and autumn, the biggest celebration is redyk, i.e. taking the sheep out to pastures and bringing them back to the sheepfold after the season.
The kids also love workshops on felting sheep from real wool and those on folk instruments.
Sopki Stopki is our center of Beskid culture. You can show the kids what the old cottages of Beskid Żywiecki look like, because we are building a mini settlement in Cięcina out of houses, where workshops, dances and concerts are held.
Be sure to follow the activities of Fundacja Górom to stay up to date with our events: https://gorom.pl/
When the weather is not good, you can go to Aqua Relax in Węgierska Górka, where swimming pools and water attractions await. You can calmly and walk to the boulevard on the Soła River - a river, a playground and a beautiful place for walking and cycling.
What’s there for employees?
Here, you work with a view of the mountains, in silence and with a cup of hot tea at hand. True, the signal can sometimes disappear here, and the internet doesn't always work like in the office... But maybe that's the point?
For those who don't need a constant connection and are looking for a space to create, write, plan or simply catch their breath from the corporate hustle and bustle - here, fresh air works better than coffee. Your head clears and inspiration comes by itself.
This is a good place for offline work, creative thinking and a break from notifications. Laptop on the terrace, notes under a blanket, and in the background only the birds singing and the rustle of trees.
