There is still much to discover in Poland, for example ridges that few have heard of. The Słonne Mountains, because they were the ones that made us swap concrete houses for leisurely walks, took their name from the salt springs that flow from their interior, from which the local population has been extracting salt since the Middle Ages. Now we buy salt in the shop around the corner, but the forest streams, wild ravines and deep gorges still attract bears, lynxes and wolves more often than tourists. That suits us.
Although the boundaries of the Słonne Mountains have never been precisely marked, you can safely head between the green valleys of the San and Stryj, somewhere halfway from Sanok to Lesko. In the village of Stańkowa, just above the “horyłkowy” stream, we have an old house with dogs, cats and two Hucul horses. Now that we have mastered village life, it is with great pleasure that we invite you. Next to our house there is a charming wooden cottage, to which we invite you in max. 4-5 people. Sometimes the hucul Promyk will look in your window, our domestic wildcat - Tosia will accompany you on a walk, and Andzia will drop in for a cuddle. In our house cats roam the house, they sleep in pots on the porch, and couch dogs lie down on a walk in the thickets or under a blanket. On Horyłka the saying "like a dog with a cat" means taking a nap together on one couch.
There are two bedrooms waiting for you in the cottage. In one there is one double bed and one single bed. In the next bedroom there are two single beds and one bed for younger travelers. Downstairs there is a living room with a fireplace, connected to a fully equipped kitchen and dining room and a spacious bathroom with a shower. The cottage opens onto an intimate veranda and a garden with bushes, fruit trees and a meadow of flowers :)
We will gladly advise you who to go to for excellent quality products and homemade dinners, which are most often devoured with a helping. Our neighbor Mrs. Anita is a culinary wizard. She bakes bread herself, makes various preserves, delicious sweets, homemade cheeses. The dinners are delicious, always filling. We will give you Mrs. Anita's contact details before your arrival.
For delicious and natural honey and to observe life in the apiary, head to our closest neighbors. Mr. Staszek's bees offer the highest quality multi-flower and honeydew honey.
We encourage connoisseurs of local wine to visit the neighboring vineyard of Mrs. Sabina and Mr. Marek.
Walkers are welcome on board. Here, walks are like meditation. You can walk along the stream, collecting shales, you can jump from stone to stone to the other side, you can walk along a trail, through the forest, a clearing, a mountain pasture. The closest you can just leave the house and go into the forest, it's magical. Our domestic wildcat, Tosia, is recommended as a guide.
In summer, we will take you to a friendly vineyard, horseback riding behind the mountain, to Mr. Staszek for honey, to relax in a hammock by the stream and to the trails. In winter, we encourage you to go skiing on the newly opened ski lift 15 minutes away from us.
The closest to us are the trails right under our noses, those of the Słonne Mountains. The name of the range comes from the brine springs that occur here, from which salt was extracted for centuries. Today, no one does this anymore, but you can walk along the trails that cross the area, along unmarked paths that stretch for kilometers, drink water from springs and give bear tracks a wide berth. Apart from forest inhabitants such as wolves, lynxes or eagles, it is hard to come across other hikers, which is becoming less and less common in Biesy.
In winter, it is worth skiing, because the snow usually does not disappoint. Most often, we have it in abundance.
The nearest ski lifts:
- Wańkowa,
- Laworta,
- Gromadzyń.
We like to spend time by the water all year round, although of course most in the summer.
On a hot day, it is worth relaxing by the "horyłkowy" stream, where the water is equally cold at any time of the year. We have prepared hammocks, swings, places to relax, a shelter and a place for a bonfire for you there.
A little further on, we recommend trips to the Wiar River, Lake Myczkowieckie or Solina.
Kayakers and rafters can go on a rafting trip along the "Błękitny San" waterway.
Our horses Wirus and Promyk are great companions for resting on the grass. You can pet them, feed them, cuddle them, but you can't ride them. They are free spirits who feel best in the pasture behind the house.
For those who feel at home in the saddle, and those who are just starting out, we have a delicacy. Just behind the mountain you will find the friendly TABUŃCZYK Equestrian Group. They organize trappers' horse rallies and horse riding in the area.
For local wines, tasting and quite innocent shopping, head to the nearby Stańkowa Winnica. You can try whites - Cymmes and Sammar, and red - Bajust.
What’s there for children?
Right after waking up in the morning, the children will be able to greet our two Huculs Promyk and Wirus, who can be seen through the window and visited every day just through the fence :)
On the shore, we have prepared hammocks for them, a shelter to comfortably eat a second breakfast, and a place for a bonfire. And finally, there is a swing that you can swing on right above the water.
At our friends' place over the mountain, children can try horse riding, and at the nearest neighbor's place they can see how honey is made.
During the winter holidays, we encourage you to use the newly built BIESZCZAD SKI ski lift.
