Psst... do you hear? No? So everything is fine. Lake Ublik is a silence zone, which means that you cannot drown it out with combustion engines. The most distinct sounds that you will hear are the flapping of a sail or the crossing of the lake by our neighbor's beaver. Every day, almost by watch, he makes his journey at the same time. The kids love watching him from the jetty. The jetty is used for safe bomb jumps and sunbathing, whether you are 5 or 45 years old. On the other hand, the 100-meter terrace around the house regularly becomes a skateboard track. In our homestead, everyone spends their time as they like.
Masuria used to be synonymous with boredom for me, today I know that you have to grow into boredom. Then you can really appreciate it. It is worth being alone with it or sharing it with your loved ones. If you are wondering where - our homestead is made for this. The house will host you up to 8 people (we have 3 bedrooms) and pamper you in familiar ways. It will allow you to relax in a tub, read on a deckchair, drift on a SUP. In such circumstances, even boredom can be tamed.
Master bedroom (160x200 cm bed) with a wooden wardrobe from France that is over a hundred years old.
Two twin bedrooms – each with a 140x200 cm bed and a wardrobe and a workspace.
In the common area in the living room there are two sofas. One is huge, linen, filled with down, and the other has a sleeping function. A sofa bed with a sleeping surface of 140x200 cm.
1. Bathroom with shower. It is located right between the smaller bedrooms.
2. Master bathroom with bathtub, shower, toilet and bidet and sauna, right next to the master bedroom.
In the attic, up a steep ladder, there is additional space. There is also a nice alcove with a 180x200 cm mattress and two chaise lounges with TV.
At home, we have a fully equipped kitchen at our guests' disposal: from cutlery, through frying pans and pots, to glasses and a capsule coffee machine and a drip Moccamaster.
There is always coffee, tea and drinking water from a filtered tap on site.
All spices are available.
In the summer season, from the May Day weekend, a fantastic restaurant opens in Przykop, located in an old forge, from where the name of the place was taken: Karczma Stara Kuźnia. The chef is a MasterChef participant, Weronika Wąsiakowska-Otrębska. In addition to the fantastic atmosphere, you will find wine from Polish vineyards and local products there.
In Bogaczewo, on Lake Boczne, Rybaczówka - make a note of this place, because this is where they serve the best fish. Their signature dish is a Masurian sandwich with pike-perch.
Quite close, because in Upały there is Karczma Stary Młyn. Some may associate this place with the series "Przystań". Regional and close. Try the local delicacy – plince.
Seasonally in Kozin, try the pizza or pasta at Pepe i Lola. Believe me, sometimes the Italians can envy them. Lots of space outside and a playground for younger children.
A classic of the genre – Rydzewo and the Gospoda pod Czarnym Łabędziem restaurant. Right on the lake, next door, delicious ice cream, so dinner with dessert in one visit. There is also a playground on the beach. One of the more famous marinas is on site.
We recommend always checking the opening hours. In Masuria, there is sometimes an Italian approach to time ;-)
There is a large area available to guests on site, and you can play badminton, paddle on SUPs or kayaks, or jump from the pier. You can even sail kayaks to Lake Ublik Mały, sometimes called Zielony, due to the color of its water. Both lakes are connected by a tunnel. The water level is sometimes shallow, but it is quite a nice attraction. Above the tunnel is an old railway embankment, which used to take summer visitors to the nearby station in Ublik to relax at the Ublick Palace.
There is also a banya, which you only have to light yourself with wood, always waiting for guests. The banya came straight from distant Finland ;-), as did the house itself.
In case of bad weather, there are a lot of nice books and a fireplace.
The terrace itself is over 100 m². Our children rollerblade on it and prepare obstacle courses. One fireplace is right next to the terrace, and the place for a bonfire is closer to the lake.
There is also a yoga mat and Nordic walking poles on site. You can take your bikes and use the many bike routes, such as the one around Masurian Switzerland, as German summer holidaymakers used to call this area before the war. The bike routes are wonderful and sometimes challenging, you have to bear in mind that some short, but still, distances have to be covered on sections of a national road. This information may be important for families with small children.
In Giżycko, on the other hand, there is an electric bike rental. You can drive 12 km to the Sailing Capital of Poland and then change to electric bikes and go on one of the proposed bike routes. We use the Rowery Giżycko rental at Warszawska 3/1. They are often opened by phone even out of season.
In Giżycko itself, there is also an old water tower, which you can visit, and at the very top you can have a coffee and, if the visibility is good, admire the views of Lake Niegocin.
In addition to the tower, in Giżycko itself there is also the Boyen Fortress, you can visit it with or without a guide, or just take a walk. In the summer, numerous events and concerts are organized here.
Right next to it are two attractions for families with children. Wiewióra Rope Park - located in the forest, so even in the summer it is pleasant here. In the same place there is also Boyen Water Park - a wakeboard lift, inflatables on the water and many other water attractions.
Masuria is fantastic, and Siedlisko Ublik is an ideal location - on the one hand, silence is impossible, and suddenly a stone's throw and access to the Great Masurian Lakes Trail. For those who have a sailing or motorboat license, you can charter great units, e.g. through Bielak Czartery.
What’s there for children?
For the youngest, there is an area to run around, play tag and hide-and-seek. There is also a zip-line, but we recommend the first descent to parents to check that it is not a light version ;-)
There is Netflix at home, but we do not talk about it out loud, because you probably have it at home too. There are board games and books.
Our children love jumping on the bomb from the jetty and can literally swim for hours on SUP boards. They watch a beaver, which regularly, every day swims from one side of the lake to the other, like clockwork. Cows graze on the hill every day and storks come.
What’s there for employees?
In the smaller rooms there are places to work. We took care of quite efficient internet, because in Mazury it is not so obvious.
