At the age of four, children start to build longer sentences, count to ten and ask the question "why?" with the frequency of a machine gun. And in Switzerland? They learn to ski. That's what happened to my husband, who had his first ski runs right here, in Dieni. Our sons followed in his footsteps. You understand that there could only be one winter address for us!
In the area, we have 165 km of trails, 33 ski lifts reaching 3,000 m above sea level. And a bonus, a holiday from the car, because everything is at your fingertips. From the balcony we look at the cross-country trails, the ski lifts are a few meters away, and the toboggan run ends exactly 20 steps from the apartment. Sometimes we swap our skis for snowshoes and go on a family trip. And other times we choose to relax in the thermal baths with swimming pools and sauna. In summer, the landscape changes to green: mountain trails, meadows, cows, horses. There is also rafting and via ferrata climbing. We don't expect boredom. But we know a few tricks to save money and we're happy to share them.

Blue Alpine is an apartment located in the picturesque town of Dieni, in the heart of the Swiss Alps, at an altitude of 1,500 m above sea level. You will find it in an intimate building with only seven apartments, and ours - under the roof, like a penthouse, with a view of the mountain panorama.
The area will not disappoint you. This is a huge ski area, which a few years ago was connected by lifts with three other areas, creating a unique Ski-Arena. In total, there are 165 km of ski slopes, 16.5 km of freerider trails and 33 lifts, which reach up to 3,000 m above sea level.
The apartment itself is cozy (55 m²) and comfortable for 6 people. Inside you will find three double beds and a sofa bed, and the decor combines modernity with subtle Swiss accents that add a warm character to the interior. The sunny balcony overlooking the Alps and the cross-country trail is the perfect place for morning coffee, post-ski relaxation, or even winter sunbathing in short sleeves. The windows let in plenty of light, and for lovers of long evenings by the fire, there is a fireplace. Right next to it you will find a cozy alcove for reading and relaxing, a favorite place of our youngest guests.
When it comes to food, you have complete freedom. There is a fully equipped kitchen in the apartment, so you can cook if you feel like it. But if you prefer to leave the kitchen revolutions for another occasion, there are plenty of places to eat well in the area.
Our favourite place? The apres-ski bar on the "Schlius" slope. It is the perfect stop before the last descent - a rest with a view of the Alps, good music from a DJ and something delicious on your plate. If you are looking for a cosy place where you can warm up after a day on the slopes and feel the real atmosphere of Alpine après-ski, this is the place to visit.
There is no shortage of places in the area where you can taste real Alpine specialities. It is worth visiting the nearby farms, where you can see how regional cheeses and other dairy products are made. Ziegenhof "Edi" in Sedrun is a farm specialising in goat breeding. You can take part in workshops, learn how to milk goats and try fresh products straight from the farmers.
And now something for those looking for excitement, but also for those who prefer peace and quiet. Blue Alpine is a great base for those who want to combine comfort with active relaxation. Around us you will find everything - from skiing to peaceful walks, plus beautiful views and an Alpine climate. Most importantly, everything is literally under your nose, so you don't have to waste time commuting.

You can walk from the apartment to the first lift in 5 minutes, and cross-country skiing trails start right outside the door. The entire region is a huge ski area, which was connected by lifts a few years ago, creating a unique Ski-Arena in the Alps. In addition, the toboggan run from Milez (4 km) leads right to the door.
Snowshoeing is a great way to discover winter landscapes in a cosy way, close to nature. In the areas around Disentis and Sedrun there are picturesque trails leading through snowy forests, along mountain streams and across vast, snowy areas.
When taking a break from skiing, we recommend the spa area (just 5 min. by car to Sedrun "Bogn Sedrun" - thermal complex), where children can have fun in the pool, and adults can bask in the sauna or relax with a massage. We also have a special sauna in a beautiful, snow-covered area, which can be booked just 15 minutes' walk from us.
In Sedrun: The Rhaetian Railway (RhB) allows you to travel through spectacular Alpine landscapes, and in the village itself you can feel the unique Alpine atmosphere with traditional wooden houses and regional architecture.
Paragliding, a unique opportunity to see the Alps from a bird's eye view. You can fly in tandem with an instructor, without experience, but with a lot of excitement.
For water lovers: Disentis offers rafting and kayaking on wild rivers, which will provide excitement and close contact with nature.
Hike with the whole family to the source of the Rhine River (also just a few minutes from us). Tomasee, located at 2'345 m above sea level, is one of the most beautiful lakes in Switzerland and the symbolic beginning of the Rhine. The route takes 2-3 hours and is a great idea for a family trip.
"Klettersteig Diavolo" or "Via ferrata Diavolo" at the Schöllenen gorge in Andermatt leads you along a spectacular route with fascinating views down the wild gorge and winding transport roads. An unforgettable experience. Fun and excitement guaranteed. An exciting climbing route. Steel ropes, ladders and views that will stay in your memory.
3 km from us: golf at an altitude of 1600 m - Golf-Club Sedrun is a nine-hole course designed by the famous architect Peter Harradine (5,570 meters long). With a driving range and practice area, all among mountain peaks.
A range of possibilities to release children's energy! In the area around Sedrun and Disentis, there are many attractions that will satisfy the youngest and allow them to spend their time in an interesting way. Everyone will find something for themselves!
Relaxed fun:
Playgrounds - by the Rhine River and the lake in Sedrun, where the youngest can play carefree and parents can catch a breath.
Snowshoe hikes - ideal for little explorers who are not afraid of snow and want to traverse winter trails together with their parents.
Farm and animals:
Bio Hof Edi Hess (Sedrun) - an opportunity for children to get to know life in the countryside, try milking goats and taste local delicacies. In winter, Mr. Edi organizes sleigh rides on skis.
Horse riding - in "Eddies Pferde" you can go for a ride on mountain trails, and in Sedrun there are charming ponies for the youngest.
Adrenaline seekers here:
"Curtin Medelin" (Disentis) rope park - routes of varying difficulty, abseils, rope bridges and other attractions testing courage and dexterity.
"Catrina Rodelbahn Caischavedra" Alpine toboggan run - 700 meters of exciting descent and 100 meters height difference. Fun guaranteed in both summer and winter!
Explorers and treasure hunters:
Crystal hunt - quartz and other minerals can be found in the area of Oberalppass. The expeditions are held with guides who teach geology and help in the search.
Gold hunt in the Rhine - a real treat for little treasure hunters! Great fun combining adventure with science.
Our hit for young and adult anglers - trout fishing on the Oberalpsee Pass (2027 m above sea level), you don't have to be a master angler to have fun! Just buy a fishing license right by the lake and go fishing!
Suspension bridges:
1. "Mutschnengia" suspension bridge. Almost 100-meter wooden structure made of larch wood in "Val Medel".
2. New "La Pendenta" suspension bridge in Disentis with a length of 300 m and a height of 100 m
Creative workshops:
Weaving in Rueras (5 min. from us) - children can try their hand at traditional crafts.
Baking sourdough bread - in the old bakery in Rueras you can learn how to make and bake your own loaf.
And yes, let's not forget about the classic attractions: swimming pool, sledding and other outdoor fun.
Generally, we recommend pretending you're in the mountains without signal. But if you really need to reply to those few emails... we have fast internet and a large table where you can easily spread out your laptop.
