At a glance

Instead of a movie – a heron over the reeds. Instead of noise – the flutter of wings and the quiet rustle of a book being read in an armchair. There are plenty of them here, and they're diverse, collected over the years by people with different tastes, so it's very likely you'll find something you've been wanting or wanting to read. We don't have a pool or entertainment. We have a lake – a real one, wild, teeming with life. We have fallow deer and moose that come right up to the house. And guests who tell us that "we dream differently here." This is a home where no one organizes our time or offers entertainment. It leaves complete freedom to you and your four-legged friends.

This is a home for people who love to simply be. To look at the lake, swim in it, on it, listen to nature, breathe, sleep without limits. To listen to yourself. To listen to friends. To talk about what's important and what's completely unimportant. To cook in the large kitchen, to fetch wood, to light a fire under the stove, to smoke cheese. Is that about you? We invite you.

This house began with walls, chimneys, and a truss. Nettles and mirabelle plums grew inside. In 1984, our father bought it as part of a former Prussian farm, once part of the palace complex in Sztynort and then abandoned after the liquidation of the State Agricultural Farm. In the 1990s, my parents renovated it as best they could – with care, improvisation, and enormous effort. In 2019, the house passed into our hands. We began organizing, renovating, furnishing, and re-acquainting it. We continue to do this to this day – slowly, in stages, with care. It is a house that is constantly evolving. Of the original interior, only the structure and the old tiled kitchen remain – rebuilt from pieces salvaged from other stoves that were being dismantled en masse at the time. It still stands today. In the fall, it will be handed over to a stove fitter, who will patch it up, polish it, and restore it to full working order. There's no absolute silence here. Instead, there's the constant sound of birdsong, the rustle of the forest, reeds, water, and wind. The garden is semi-wild – sometimes the gardener adds color, but nature tells its own story. Guests most often comment on the scale of the house, its labyrinthine structure, and how quickly they feel "at home." They're surprised that the lake is so close. And then they start to sleep deeply. Or dream. Or talk differently than usual. Things happen at Siedlisko that are difficult to plan: friendships and loves are born, sometimes separations come, and a dialogue with the water, trees, and animals emerges. This place fosters pause and connection – with others and with oneself. We are a quiet, somewhat shy couple: a physiotherapist and a teacher with a philosophical bent. We enjoy tea, long conversations, and morning dew on the leaves. Siedlisko nad Mamrami is for people who can be themselves and don't need entertainers. For those who enjoy water, books, reflection, and silence, understood as a lack of rushing. It's a place a bit like Master Yoda's cave – you enter without instructions and encounter what's yours. We don't have a beach with a gentle slope – you enter the lake from a pier, into deeper water. We don't have attractions or activities, so families with children who need constant activities and stimulation may feel uncomfortable here. But if you're looking for a space that allows you to breathe, listen, and be – Siedlisko nad Mamrami is waiting for you.
