From the windows of our cottages, you'll have a spectacular view of Śnieżne Kotły (Snow Cirques). However, we believe it's worth changing your perspective and gazing out from the edge of two massive glacial cirques, looking out over the "Window to the Karkonosze Mountains." The experience will be unforgettable.

How, you might ask, did we manage to acquire a plot of land in such a location? It came with the painter Wlastimil Hofman's house, "Wlastimilówka," which we plan to restore and open to the public in the future. You've probably encountered his work many times. He was a Young Poland artist, a representative of Symbolism, whose paintings can be seen in museums in Poland and around the world. In Krakow's Zwierzyniec district, you'll find Hofman's Villa. The painter came to Szklarska Poręba after years of wartime wandering and supported himself for the rest of his life by painting portraits of locals and tourists. At such an altitude, he certainly had no shortage of inspiration. We built our two contemporary cottages exclusively from natural materials to complement the wooden "Wlastimilówka." They will provide you with exceptional proximity to trails, a view that people climb to this height specifically for, and the silence that only the forest at the top can provide.

Two bedrooms are upstairs, one with a large window spanning almost the entire gable end, overlooking the mountains, and the other overlooking the parking lot/forest. Downstairs, there's a living room with a fireplace, a kitchenette with a dining area, a bathroom, and a porch. Charming granite paths lead from the parking lot.

The plot borders the forest, with two hiking trails and two cycling trails running along both sides. Deer and red deer are frequent visitors. We used only natural materials in the construction: wood, stone, and wood wool. The house features a private well, a biological treatment plant, sheep's wool mattresses, wood wool insulation, and larch siding and decking fired using the Japanese Shou Sugi Ban method.

Besides the beautiful views, the property also houses the house of the painter Wlastimil Hofman, whose works can be admired in numerous galleries worldwide. This Polish painter and poet is one of the most respected artists of the Young Poland movement. He represents the Symbolist movement and holds an important place both in the local artistic tradition and in the context of European modernism.

The "Window to the Karkonosze" cottages are a place with soul, where every corner tells its own unique story.

In our cottages, guests are responsible for their own tummies. However, we can recommend Chata Izerska (a 12-minute walk) for local food (the Izerska dumplings and beef pierogi are excellent), or a 15-minute walk to Karczma Placek for pork knuckle.

The Karkonosze Mountains are called the Polish Alps. They're famous for their hurricane-force winds and frequent weather changes, but also for their 150 incredible rock formations, mountain lakes, and glacial circuses. The Chronicles of Narnia were filmed here, Liczyrzepa takes care of the peaks, and in the mountain huts you can sip delicious hot chocolate, eat blueberry pancakes, and eat the best apple pie in the world :-)

Exceptional tourist attractions in our area include:
– Śnieżne Kotły, glacial cirques and a great viewpoint,
– Wielki Szyszak, the second peak of the Karkonosze Mountains,
– Polana Jakuszycka, a paradise for cross-country skiing enthusiasts, and you might even meet Justyna Kowalczyk during the run,
– the Jakuszyce Glassworks, a major attraction for both children and adults. – Szklarka Waterfall, perhaps the most photographed site in Szklarska Poręba and perfectly prepared for tourists,
– The Crocus Reserve in Górzyniec, best visited in early spring.
– Bobrowe Skały (Boarfrost Rocks), especially attractive for climbing enthusiasts.
– Zakręt Śmierci (Death Turn)
– Wysoki Kamień (High Stone) with a fabulous view of the Karkonosze and Jizera Mountains
– Ski slopes
– The Palace in Staniszów and the captivating Pakoszów Palace, which you must see.

A well-developed network of hiking trails in the town and surrounding area (nearly 100 km of marked hiking trails) and proximity to chairlifts and T-bar lifts in the mountains create excellent conditions for a variety of activities year-round.

You can also enjoy cycling. You can choose a route that suits your fitness level, willingness, and skill level, such as the 9-kilometer-long Three Districts Connector or the challenging 50-kilometer Cogeneration Route, which runs through the Karkonosze and Jizera Mountains. You can also hit the sweet spot and tackle 20 kilometers on the Large Szklarska Loop.

Jakuszyce needs no introduction to cross-country skiers. Those who have already mastered the technique can try their hand at Bieg Piastów, while beginners can start learning with an instructor and, after an hour's training, head to the beautiful Orle Mountain Hut or Chatka Górzystów. The effort and falls (the beginnings can be difficult) will be rewarded with blueberry pancakes.

An unassuming but much-loved attraction is the JUNA Earth Museum, worth a visit, especially when the weather is not cooperating. Although guests don't always go there with excitement, they usually return delighted, because the collections are so beautiful and diverse.

There are plenty of attractions for kids in the area, and we especially recommend the Dinosaur Park.

There's a desk with a lamp in one of the bedrooms, and good fiber-optic internet. But our absolute favorite place to work is the terrace, which has an outlet and a comfortable sofa ;-)
